Tri_Cho_Me's First Grow & Grow Diary

Good morning Ginge.
I think you are at least a couple weeks from transplant and maybe more. You need a root ball to hold the soil when you transplant.
How big are those pots that they are in?
If they are bigger than beer cups than I would wait until your plants are bigger than Tri_Cho_Me's to transplant.
I had good luck going from beer cups to 6" pots then to 14" pots to finish.
I know how hard it is for us new guys to be patient but you have to let them take their time. Plants have their own schedule and don't care if we are in a hurry. Give them love and keep them happy.

Goodmorning.. should i say after noon lol
You couldnt be more right.. the pots there in are 2litre pop bottles cut in half or maybe more.. so id say just under a litre... im gona give the ouple weeks yet..
Yh i dont like rushing mother nature just gotta let her take her course..

Hope all is well your world

Keep smoking
Ginge

@fiddynut - Thanks man! I'm trying my darndest to keep them happy!

@Gingerginge - I'm not great with liters, however, I am doing a light MaxiBloom solution about once a week. Other than that, just normal pH'd water or pH'd water with a little molasses. Both are at 1/8 teaspoon per gallon.

Tri_Cho_Me
They seem to be getting what they need.. mollasses is a form or sugar and carbohydrates for the babys (correct me if im wrong).. iv only used it on auto flowers but didnt test it as in feed it one plant and not another so i couldnt realy coment. But it did make the buds sweeter..

Hope all is well keep up the good work

Day 24 Veg - Showing Sex

Day 24 Veg - Showing Sex

Hey everyone,

I took a close look today at the girls and they are both looking fantastic. Really taking to their new homes.

I noticed what I believe are the girls showing their sex. The start of what appears to be pistils, or those little white hairs. I tried to get the best pic I could below. I'll keep an eye on these in the days to come.

#2 continues to be a miniature version of #1, however also shows her pre-flowers as well. #1 is getting VERY close to topping. In fact, I was close to doing it today, but I want to make sure they're good from the transplant, and so that top can grow a bit more. I will probably wait to top #2 until it gets a little bigger.

I want to top each of them twice and then I will start looking at implementing the ScrOG. A few days after that has been implemented, I am sure it will be time to flip them to flower.

Let me know what you think! Thanks for following along.

Looking really nice Tri_Cho_Me.
Looks like they took to the transplant very well. I think that is a sign that your girls are happy. You seem to have a green thumb as they say. They will really take off now that they have some space in those pots.
Looks like pre flowers to me too. Keep an eye open for male flowers even after seeing female buds and throughout the whole grow. If you do get any pollen sacks you can pick them off and avoid some seeded buds. On my plant they popped up under the lower buds and it seemed to only affect the bottom 1/3 of the buds. I didn't see mine and I think I got lucky that my other plants didn't get pollinated. I hope yours stay 100% female.
Keep up the good work and those girls will reward you.

Yea, these are feminized, so I should be good, but yea, I was planning on keeping an eye out for anything male looking!

Thanks for the input Fiddynut!

Expensive??? You can get a little packet of Mykos at any hydro store for like $10. It will last many transplants. And yes, it's great stuff. I never transplant without it!!!

Day 26 Veg - Topping

Day 26 Veg - Topping

Back again...

First off, the explosive growth continued and #1 gave me a beautiful opportunity to top her with as little damage as possible. Can't wait to watch the change take place now. I am holding off on topping #2. The current top it's producing isn't at the right time to do it. However, it is really starting to catch up height wise.

As you can see in the wide view pic of my tent, I have the two 1 gallon Smart Pots on two pieces of wood so they're not sitting in their own waste (hehe) and to get some air flow under there. And, as you can see, I have the wet towel on the bottom right by the intake so that air just blows right over that soaking towel. You can't see in the pic, but I'm at about 81 degrees F and 49% RH.

I have been keeping the light right around 24 inches like Platinum suggests and they really seem to be enjoying things now. They have been 'praying' ever since the re-pot. With the explosive growth I have had to adjust the light more often. But, I feel I am attentive enough, I don't need to worry about it growing into a danger zone.

Questions:
- If I plan to top both plants twice, how long do you think it will be from the first topping to the second?
- If you look close in one of the pics below, you notice little sparkles on the leaves. What are those?! I have in my head they're mini trichomes
- I plan to ScrOG after I top each plant twice, should I be doing something now to prepare for that? Or is the topping enough at this point? (I of course have the ScrOG itself installed and ready to implement.

Thanks for your input, idea's and suggestion's!

Do not let your plants grow through Annette until they are in their final pots. Once they grew through the net you cannot repot. As for topping it's the same is everything. Don't be impatient. Let the plants grow and grow and really show you that they are thriving and then top again. And your relative humidity is way too low. In veg I would have your temperatures at at least 82° and get that humidity up to around 60%. The humidity that you're at now is great for flower but not veg.

I think it's great you both have found a method that works for you. I don't think it's necessary, so, regardless of cost I don't see it as a necessity.

It's a good tip for others following along though. Try it out. Maybe it will accomplish what you're looking for.

Day 28 Veg - News & More Topping

Day 28 Veg - News & More Topping

Hey all,

#2 finally got to a point where I could top her. Only two days behind #1 and starting to look almost identical size wise. I feel like #1 is starting to look different, like she got the message she lost her head...

Also, I think I decided I am going to veer off script a little. I was going to ScrOG after I topped, but I think I am just going to top a couple times and leave the ScrOG out. It's my very first grow attempt, so no need to rush into things too quickly.:)

They're both starting to put out a good pot smell (I dont know how else to describe it). Almost how a tomato plant smells, but more sweet.

After topping #2, I watered them both really well. They were light before and heavy after. They seem to be on an every three day watering schedule. And they get really dry. I have quite a bit of air movement between my intake, exhaust, and two smaller fans sitting at the bottom. Between that and the smart pots, these girls are loving life.

Let me know what you think. Or, make fun of me for chickening out with the ScrOG!

Peace,
Tri_Cho_Me

Good evening Tri_Cho_Me.
Things are looking really good with your girls. They are starting to grow quickly now. #2 may not be such a runt. I love the way they smell early just a nice green scent with a bit of ganja.

I don't think you are chickening out at all. As a new grower it's not a bad idea to be able to move your plants around. You will be able to get a better look at them. It's much easer to water when you can move them out and let the runoff go into something you can dump. I think it will make your grow go smoother and less stressful. You only have one first grow and I think you should enjoy it. Top them a couple times and maybe tie down a few branches. Make some bushes out of them and you'll fill that tent.

It sounds like you are doing a great job watering them and your ventilation is working well. I hope you are having fun with this grow and I think you are doing great. I bet you are going to have a huge smile on your face on New Year's Eve when you are puffing a fat joint of buds you get from your girls.

Thanks man! What is the goal of tying branches down? Is it to get them out of the way of the new growth underneath? Is this going to create more tops as well?

Tying them down helps them grow horizontal so you can maximize your Scrog and not break the branches when you start pulling them through. If your branches are growing vertically and you start bending them to pull them through (especially wide) You will break them. Or at least some of them. LST'ing is standard practice for scrogging.

I decided against the ScrOG. I'm just going to top this first round. Still a need to tie the branches down then or no?
