TOTALLY RANDOM POST II

M

moose eater

Is there a difference between random and totally random?

If it were a matter of strict definition, does either actually exist?

Maybe the thread should be re-named, 'tangential posts,' or 'hey, I just thought of this' posts.

Grazed on raspberries from my wife's prize arbor for breakfast, followed by a bit of French brie on quinoa and flax seed crackers, with black French roast coffee, and R/O H2O.

Breakfast this time of year is fairly easy; just walk outside and munch.

More of a walk-through than a drive-thru, but it works.

Not long until walk-thru stir-fries now. My favorite time of gardening. Leave the door with a huge empty bowl, walk a short distance, and return with carrots, broccoli, cabbage, snow peas, peppers, etc... Everything but onions, though there's chives out there.

With shrimp, moose, etc., in the freezers, the next month or so of dinner is shaping up nicely.

Can't play vids, Squall. Wish I could. We may be able to connect to new fiber optic cable in the 'hood this year, but not sure. Told they won't fish wires, and the thought of having wires visible, running along this baseboard or that trim piece, as well as patching vapor barrier on my nearly-air-tight, super-insulated home, then the sheetrock patching, nearly causes me to accept life in the VERY slow internet lane.

Anyway...

I again stared at the very nice, semi-decorative, stainless steel salmon/fish-poaching/steaming device atop one of the freezers in the freezer room when I fed the dogs this evening..

I don't know that we've -ever- used the fucking thing. I've kept it because it came from my mother's estate, or because she gave it to us; can't remember which now.

I've never poached fish.. at least not in the cooking sense of the word, anyway. Might've kept a fish or 3 that I wasn't supposed to, but that's poaching of another sort.

I suspect that as we get older, it's time to cut loose of anything that hangs out for strictly sentimental attachment reasons, or some other poor bastard down the line, when we pass into the next realm, will be stuck staring at the same contraptions, wondering why THEY keep the things around.

I bet we'd have a lot less clutter, and a lot more usable space if we critically looked at what ever it is that needs examined, and asked ourselves why we keep it. And failing to arrive at a satisfactory reason, get rid of it.

Hell, we'd likely have some decent spending money from selling such stuff.

The raspberries are coming ripe in a short window, and the broccoli, both early and later varieties, are nearly all ready for harvest as well. Snow peas are going ape shit as well; tons of the buggers now.

No recipes I know of that use broccoli with raspberries. Probably a good thing. The combination sounds less than desirable.

Best be figuring out who we know that could use some organic-grown fresh garden broccoli, some hybrid raspberries, and acquiring a carboy or 2 for my wife to start making raspberry wine.

Otherwise it'll be a summer of wasted resources, and that's a cardinal sin here.

Robin Hood is my great, great .......... Grandfather. He has left me some really important Genes. Like the one which allows me to take from the poor ... no, that's not right ... what was it he gave me? (thinks) That's right! A cousin called Marion! Who of course I wanted to have sex with which is what we did in our family. Ha Ha! She'd shit herself, albeit demurely, if she knew I was posting about her here!

And ya wouldn't furkin believe but she was born in Nottingham altho not in the Forest because that is gone now.

And my Dad was born in Nottingham too and all his brothers and Sisters most of whom died young because of tobacco and no exercise.
Like their illustrious ancestor Robin H. they were not thieves. They just collected things that fell off trucks!

What a downfall for the Family over the years. (Sad, Sad.) a demise from Noble Outlaw Film Star to cringeing working class morons in less than five centuries!

Bye now ... off to rob a stagecoach!

little Suzi's goin' thru withdrawals for the love of her life, Uncle Hank :dunno: I adopted Suzi as an adult and for the 3+ hour ride home she sat in Hank's lap, he fed her cheeseburgers, rubbed her belly....

and when he said "I wonder if she gives kisses?" Suzi sprang into action on cue, on the word 'kisses' and she showered Hank with love. His boyhood dog was a dachshund that was killed by a car, to say that he & Suzi bonded on the ride home would be an understatement.

So every time uncle Hanks leaves, Suzi goes into a funk; oh yeah, while he's here he let her stay on his lap getting belly rubs n' love, she really really loves him.......

Morals over money? Every time! Unless the morals aren't really morals at all in the first place. Which would be why folks might choose money; because their stated morals aren't really their morals at all, but rather just a book cover or veneer of sorts.

But I was watching the beginning of the movie 'The Monuments Men" and the film ran the Producers' or motion picture regulators' group's blurb on justifying their rating of the flick, saying something about 'graphic war violence,' and 'historical smoking.'

No BS.

What the fuck is historical smoking? Is it somehow different than modern smoking, or smoking in general?? Is it smoking of historical significance?

Hmmmm. I decided to watch a movie for purposes of relaxation, and maybe to feel more enlightened, but before the thing even began, I came away more confused. Not good. No, not good at all, I say.

Historical smoking always brings to mind young healthy fit males and the phrase 'light 'em if you got 'em'. I do have cancer, and that may somewhat skew such memories.

If only they'd have had a mandatory-for-public-view crystal ball in ad-land, where the viewers could see the outcomes in quality of life for the Marlboro Man. Probably would've changed a BUNCH of RJ Reynolds' investment portfolios.

Yes, in the movies back then, ciggy smoking was seen as chic. The most glamorous and liberated of women smoking with their long slender cigarette holders (rarely inhaling, btw, if I recall correctly).

At some point, the message was even that smoking cigs was GOOD for us. Amazing what kind of bullshit money can buy when it comes to claims of findings or science.
