Lead is a known (for centuries) toxic metal that retards IQ. The EPA outlawed it in 1973 for gas and paint and other items. Yet the City of Chicago insisted that new water connections up to 1986 be made with lead pipes. What some politicians will do to keep the Plumbers Union happy. it wasn't too long ago that a large city north of me legalized PVC and PEX for water as copper required skills to put in.

any curbing of the Supreme Court is going to have to be overwhelmingly popular in both parties or it won't happen. but since they "self-police" :) but never seem to see a conflict....:dunno:and what is to keep a rogue group on the court from simply declaring any legislation aimed at keeping them in line unconstitutional? are they not the final arbiters? would they have to be impeached & removed from the court for any movement forward?

The very same families who financed the coup of 1933, are behind
the intentional and deliberate corruption of the Supreme Court.
Thank you for posting what you did Moose Eater, no finer example
of that than the Koch family, they are certainly not alone in their
on going effort to take over a this country.
Their most treacherous and treasonous behavior has been swept
under the table and hidden from the public over and over again.

I recall the presence of Alito and Thomas at the Koch's private club home as having been related to the Federalist Society and some shindig they were hosting, though in my opinion, if true, that in no way removed the coflict of interest.

Re. self-policing on the SCOTUS, they appear to realize they've compromised their standing and objectivity, and of late, they seem to be watching some of their looser decisions a little bit more closely.

Just ask Mr. tRump. I think he's still feeling the sting from some of his latest assumptions gone awry where 'conservative' and even tRump-appointed judges are concerned.

If you're able to locate that bit of news from back during CU, specifically related to those 2 Justices staying at the Kochs' home during that case, for purposes of the Federalist Society's get-together, I'd be very grateful.

after the uproar/backlash from Roe V Wade savaged the GOP this election, it won't surprise me a bit for the Gang of Six on the court to pull their horns in for a while hoping people (women mostly) forget what a blatantly political stunt they pulled after all of their lies about "respecting precedent". two, and possibly three, currently on the court should be facing impeachment proceedings for openly lying to the Senators who voted them into their lifetime jobs....the ends DO NOT justify the means!

Testimony of Lisa Graves | Senate Judiciary Committee

https://www.judiciary.senate.gov › download › lis...

"Over the past decade, special interests have pumped hundreds of millions of dollars into sophisticated campaigns to influence judicial nominations, judicial decisions, and judges themselves through a dizzying network of dark money nonprofits and limited liability companies. This is not a positive sign of civic engagement; it is an exercise in raw power, and a dramatic reminder that the choice of who interprets the U.S. Constitution and the laws of our land is every bit as important as electing those who make the laws in the first place. "

I knew I remembered reading it. My memory, even after everything is considered, is still fairly stout. My wife says she's sometimes frightened of my memory. One day I hope to lose it. At least some of it.

Here it is, in at least one publicaiton. Thanks for doing the leg work, Gry.

Edit: I guess we posted at the same time after my go-ahead and initial deference to you.. Apologies.

the legislature can enact the laws. judiciary interprets them. but if the public disagrees, and acts accordingly, then it won't matter much what a judge decides. alcohol prohibition illustrated this pretty well.

here's something ELSE to gnaw on, lol. "if" it became apparent that a bloc of Justices decided "fuck it, we're gonna do this and we don't care..." you could NOT successfully impeach them if the political party they decided to push for had enough self-interested corrupt Senators to cover their ass when it was time to vote.

I'll abstain from commenting in a public forum re. the probable/eventual outcome of such an act.

Would think that someone who had access to a cool and dry area where things could be stored
long term at little cost, might be able to do real well with buying up old sets of encyclopedias
Such things can be had at little cost today.

We had the World Book Encyclopedia at home, about the 1964 version I would guess. I spent hours reading it.

Do they still print out encylopedias?

I would imagine they do indeed, on paper and disc.
Can only imagine there are a number of people who have all but educated themselves with them.
