My ma came here in the trunk of a car all the way from Guatemala in the 70's and now she's banking 150k every year of yall's savory and delicious American moneys teaching under educated illiterate American kids how to stop crossing their eyes and diddling their lips.

The traditional route of the better educated generally involved over staying visas.

Those folk are tribal . They marry from their ethnic group and had strong family bonds .
They have lived on that land a very , very long time . They would like to carry on their lives as they have done for 100s of years .
Making their homeland unlivable and breaking up the family bonds turns them into individuals and consumers . What more could you want ?

we have the same issues in the uk.. it isn't about racism its more to do with being a wealthy country which is being over exploited by others. and the powers that be, opening the gates to more people than it can sustain with that said wealth.
sooner or later the overall public- mostly working class people are the ones who are hit hardest.
the uk and the usa needs to take back control of its borders, then start healing their domestic issues to make the country great again. that's why Donald trump won the electoral vote, that's why the uk public voted to leave the Eu. same issue, different place.
then maybe in the future they can once again welcome in more migrants sustainably.
