don't worry if the clones look a bit taken aback by the whole thing, that's quite normal, i'm haveing a lot of leaves yellowing off too on my clones to be. 9 days at good temps in the rw plugs in those domed greenhouses and not a sign of a root on the rw plugs, lol. oh well i'll have to be patient, the weakest ones have died off and been removed. i hope the rest make it, lol.
hey NT, are you using the 1k on the seedlings and clones? i wonder if it might be just too much for them at a young age. if your using the 400 you talked about though, i dunno what to say about them. anyways good luck
Gaius - Yeah man, clones like to be drama queens But I think these little ones have just died. Mostly. Still two I have hope for, but I'm about to just chuck the whole lot of 'em. I tell ya, I've had the damnedest time cloning these Sweet13s.
Baker - Yeah, they're under the 1kw. I explained the deal there a few posts back. Seedlings are looking fine, just a bad germ rate. The 400 hasn't arrived yet, I'm still waiting on the tax return before I can move forward on any of that. Was supposed to have arrived last Friday, still not here yet
I'm thinking I may just abandon the idea of keeping a mom and running clones. I just have no need for that kind of volume. Thinking what I may do is flower out this revegged Sweet13, run through the BrainWarps, and go ahead and start the Mississippi Mud from JLP. That would give me some staggered harvests, and if any of them do well, I should I have plenty for quite a while. Plus, I was talking to my wife, and there is something to be said for not running constantly.
But dammit, cloning from this Sweet13 is enough to drive me to drink!
it's only a matter of time and even the most stubborn of clones will root eventually. if it doesn't die in the first 2 weeks, then it's very likely gonna make it and just needs time to make the roots grow visible. who cares if they have a yellow leaf or two as long as they make those roots, i can always bring them round. but you are right, you should sow more seeds. and take a clone from each in the first week of 12/12. clones root quicker when the momas were in 12/12 for some reason. and put them aside in your veg space, just so you don't lose any genetics that might be real special. just an idea. can you tell i found a few rooted ones today and am back into my positive cloning opinions, lol. it was funny 9 days nothing and then bang quite a few had enough roots to be transplanted, those were the quick ones now i go to wait for the rest so i have enough for my table.
Yeah, you can tell you're having luck with cloning These little ones are flopped over completely, not just yellow leaves. No big thang, just do another round
On the upside though, the tax check came in and the new lights have been ordered as of today
what i have noticed, is that decent sized clones work faster and better then really thinn or small ones. today i plan to pick out all the rooted ones and give them a quick feed. so they stay healthy while waiting for the rest to root.
I'm expecting the new 400w light today or tomorrow, and I've got all the supplies for my flip flop. Today, I'll be assembling the new veg pod in anticipation of the incoming 400w. I'm also going to insulate the pods.
The 30 amp circuit I'm installing was originally on the plate for yesterday, until I discovered I have an ancient no-longer-made panel. That the CPSC has some unkind words about. So, had to order a breaker off of eBay.
So, in short, unless the insulation makes a much larger difference than I anticipate, we're still looking at being next week before everything is in place as planned.
On the upside, I got my pump, so I'm all set to go recirc when the time comes.
I'll keep you guys updated as I make the changes I can (insulation and wiring the ballast and flipflop).
Insulation is done, and with a few tweaks to the airflow, I think everything is in place for the veg room to go back online. Well, need to add a humidifier, but I've got it, just gotta add it
While waiting for the 400w MH ballast to arrive today, I went ahead and turned this
into this
We'll cut some clones tonight and see how they go.
As soon as the MH ballast kit gets here, we'll walk through that and get it running too
Then remembered I was supposed to take pics, and so now I'm disassembling it
Although, I really doubt I need to do a step by step, as the instructions provided by HTG are very very good. Not to mention they made the instructions themselves.
Nice to see a shop take the time to do that. Most places just send you out the stuff and tell you to kiss their ass - if you wanted help assembling it, you should have bought it assembled LOL
hows it going NiteTiger, nice looking cloner your making, hope it works. i ended up with about a 70% soccess rate with my old cloning method. partly because i chose to use some very small twigs. but i should have just enough if the rooted ones all survive lol. there will not be any selecting possible lol.
anyway hope all is going as you wish, have fun seting up your circuit and braker, lol.
I decided not to do the step by step instructions because the instructions that HTG supplies are very, very good. Simple, easy to follow, with plenty of pictures. You can see them behind the parts in the first pic.
Note that the enclosure, power cord, bulb, and remote socket wire did not come with the kit, they were from a dead ballast. If you didn't have them, the power cord and wire to the socket would cost maybe $15.
Still, the kit was $45, so $60 for a 400w MH ballast. Not too shabby at all
