Its funny how people forgot what the GOP did to Merrick Garland...

It is funny how you forget that Obama nominated someone for SCOTUS in the certain lame duck period of his presidency.

Trump isn't technically a certain lame duck. In fact he is the incumbent and soon to WIN 4 more years.

Just like you forgot all the things the dems said about impeaching Clinton and then complained about what the republicans said about the Trump impeachment.

It isn't new for either side. Stop pretending you don't know this. It is what they both do. It is what they both have always done.

So here's a thought....what if Schumer were to tell McConnell,

"You ram through a new Justice before the next president is sworn in, and when we take over the Senate and the President, DC and Puerto Rico are gonna become states."

Wonder how McConnell would like 4 new Democratic Senators and 6 Electoral votes for PR and 3 for DC....and then if McConnell backs down and if the Dems retake the Senate and Presidency....they should do it anyway.

This is exactly why the republicans need to nominate and vote in their choice for SCOTUS.

Sidebar...

RBG said a president is in office for 4 years not 3 years and 6 months. She said this when people complained about Obama nominating someone. This makes her a hypocrite or it makes her granddaughter a liar about her saying she wants the new president to nominate her replacement.

I tend to believe her granddaughter is lying. Because if RBG said "new president" she would mean somebody not named Trump. When he wins he would have to wait 4 more years to grant her dying wish.

Take a closer look at RBG... supposedly she didn't try to hire black law clerks, she said Colin Kaepernick was disrespectful to the flag, she didn't denounce confederate flags or statues and many of her decisions were political, social justice decisions and not constitutional.

She also broke tradition buy complaining about a person running for president and then a newly elected president.

She loved the limelight and could not walk away. She hung on too long.

She made major decisions while sick with cancer and taking who knows what drugs.

She needed to go and Trump needs to get a replacement in before the end of 2020.

Even if Garland was put to vote...the repub senate would not have put him through....get it?
No one is forgetting...some are to fucking stupid to figure it out....instead they fill their head with drive by media talking points and spew it out thinking they have a legitimate point....then they get sand in their pussy and cry about people always calling them names and being mean to them...we even have a few on here....

No need to put Ruth on a pedestal or knock her off, the truth of the matter is that none of the supreme court justices are saints and they're all mostly politically biased in favor of their party, that's why they were chosen.

Rep. icon Sandra Day O'connor was actually complicit in the choosing of Rep. George W. Bush over the popular vote won by Dem. Al Gore in the 2000 election.

I remember seeing her caught on videotape in her home watching TV and mouthing off gleefully abt how she was gonna turn the whole thing around, think Hanging Chads :tiphat:

https://news.cornell.edu/stories/2007/10/sandra-day-oconnor-remarks-2000-presidential-election

Sandra Day O'Connor concedes Supreme Court's ruling on 2000 presidential election 'was controversial'

In a crowded Bailey Hall on Oct. 23, retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor conceded that the court's ruling in favor of George W. Bush in the 2000 election, even though Al Gore won the popular vote, "was certainly controversial."

During the question-and-answer session following her Milton R. Konvitz Lecture in American Ideals, she declared: "The court's decision rested on federal law … the allegation was that Florida officials were not correctly applying federal law in the counting of the votes. That's a perfectly OK federal issue. Now, what bothers people about that election is that the popular vote was for Mr. Gore ..."

Thus, five long weeks after the contested election, O'Connor voted with the majority of the Supreme Court on a 5-4 decision to stop the recount of votes in Florida, the state that brought us the hanging chad. Bush became president, the third in U.S. history to be elected despite losing the popular vote.

Impeachment proceedings would take precedent over scotus picks. Dems should just start throwing impeachments around lol.

Play dirty games, win dirty prizes. If Democrats want the power to nominate judges they have to win the senate in 2020. Democrats couldn't even take the Senate in 2018, and what you guys are talking about will scare many independents right into our arms again.

.... but is there even enough time to vote to agree to proceed on Impeachment before the election?

As I recall it took awhile last time they tried. :shucks:

Trump got a bump in support last time he was impeached. I actually welcome the idea. They could get the nominee through while the house is busy with whatever they impeach him for.

like the Pentagon, the 2 big parties are always war-gaming things like this.

e.g. the Patriot Act, had been worked on for a long time.

my guess is, the impeachment papers for a second go-round are ready to drop on the altar, or wherever they put cases - wherever they put whatever they call them.

That's just an excuse. Your muddying the water with 5 different issues. Even the GOP at the time said they wouldn't vote on any SC nomination within the last year of a rep POTUS. They lied, they always lie. The dem are just pussies. They don't know how to play hard ball politics.

And what have the dems said of this issue in the past?

I'm rooting for our 2A rights to finally be restored the way the constitution intended. Automatic weapons that can be physically carried should be 100% legal.

Of course there all liars. In the end it was Moscow Mitch that took away Obama's right to pick the next SC justice.

According to the constitution it's not mandatory that the Senate advances whoever the president nominated. Part of the checks and balances. If the American people wanted democrat judges they would have given Democrats the Senate in 2018.

That's true but every nomination must get a confirmation vote. Merrick Garland never got a vote. Like I said Moscow Mitch prevented a legal nomination by not allowing a vote that he was bound to give. Doesn't matter whos in power. They seem to make up there own shit .. .

over 60% of americans in polls support the winner of the election picking the scotus. so as usual boogie thinks he's on the right side of the issue lol.

and as usual boogie is looking at the causes of a corrupt system (just as you do on the subject of BLM/racism) as if they are the true will of the people lol. republican districts are gerrymandered to shit. they literally cannot win without doing this and other vote suppression tactics. you completely ignore one side's corruption in favor of another's.
