TB, what latitude are you at?

Thanks peeps. These are growing at approx. 42 degrees north in an area that is dominated by a Mediterranean climate, but bordering on marine and continental climates, the northern tip of the Emerald Triangle defined by California, Hawaii, and Southwest Oregon. Actually, I think Cannabis grows just fine in a lot of other places in the U.S., but it became widespread in these areas first as home growing became popular in the U.S..

that is pretty far north for your plants to begin flowering any time soon aint it?... I have seen some pure indicas start flowering by late july that finish up by the end of september at around 39* (which will initiate flowering even earlier than your latitude if I am not mistaken) versus some 80% sativas that don't start flowering until well into september when the Indicas have already or are being harvested.

it would be quite a benefit though... to have some sativas flowering so soon, so that they could have the time to finish.

I'm counting on seeds from the two plants I'm hoping are males that I have in reserve. One is a NepaleseJam, and the other is a Bangi Haze, both of which seem to be big fat leaved phenotypes which I imagine are from the Nepalese side. Remember, both of these strains are about 50% Nepalese, known for its euphoric high. The trippy part I believe is from the Congolese in the Bangi Haze. I have grown what I believe was the Jamaican Blue Mountain that is in the NepaleseJam, and that was euphoric, floaty, and mildly disorienting. If I feel like I'm floating around, I'm feeling like I'm tripping.

Great thread TB - been following right along. You've inspired me to forgo a long list of beans I wanted based basically on the names of things having been reported to be 'good weed'.

This part of your post reassures me that Ive chosen wisely in my own search for euphoric/psychedelic highs. I got Congo, Nepal Highland, Destroyer and Golden Tiger from Ace/Cannabiogen - as well as Malawi Gold from Seeds of Africa. I really wanted Zamal too, but it seems to be hard to find.

I only got 5-packs so I plan on 'f2'ing them all, making select crosses and letting them all have a big orgy.

Thanks for this thread.

Hi RoadRash,

Thanks for visiting. It has been getting a bit vacant around here, relatively speaking, without Bushweed posting his amazing tropical garden plants that makes everyone's jaws drop and drool. I was about to post some more updates, and it feels weird posting multiple posts in a row, like I'm an old man living alone with a house full of cats to keep me company. No offense to you cat lovers out there. I have two cats and a dog. Uh oh, I am that guy!

Speaking of being self absorbed, I completely agree that getting off my ass and doing something, even if it is just smelling the roses, helps to calm my mind, focus less on myself, and more on the magical world around me, smoothing out any overly energetic or nervous rush of thoughts that can feel like paranoia in extreme cases, if that is what you mean. Which is why I don't mind it if I eventually get to a place of wonder and bliss over this crazy world.

Here is a picture of Gypsy Nirvana Thai Stick x Neville's Haze x Mullumbimby Madness, on the left, and Copalita Oaxacan on the right. I'm calling GNT x NHz x MM "Orange Marmalade" because of the aroma. I wanted to capture an image before I start bending them. They both have exploded in growth and stretch, especially the Oaxacan. One of those Oaxacan internodes is over 5 inches!

Also, here are a couple of pictures of my outdoor Nepalese , Bangi Haze and NepaleseJam. Their growth seems to have slowed down recently, partly because I am trying not to water too much so the roots grow deep into the ground past the compost and into the natural red clay soil. I want them to be drought resistant and strong. The fastest columnar and fat leaved individual is leaning over and lost some lower branches. I had to apply some bindings to try and prevent further damage. I think the others have a more natural stronger structure and are slower growing. I have not been following my own advice and probably have been over fertilizing them, because I want to "keep up with the Joneses". It is so temping when others are posting pictures of massive plants.

You can see a fruit box that I was using in the past for a raised bed. I decided to go with fabric pots and in one case a wire fence, with leaves to prevent soil from falling out, so they are not so far off the ground. I believe I will build a greenhouse over the top so that any early rains or light frost do not kill my plants. I expect these to be done by November 1, which is pushing it in our area. If any get done by the end of September, it would be ideal, but I'm not counting on it.

The chair makes the plants look not so big, but it is an illusion because these are on a steep hill. The plants are between a bit shy of 5 feet to 6 feet tall. Those fabric pots are about 5 to 6 feet in diameter. The plants should explode in growth soon, as the days start to shorten.

Hi Koondense,

What a beautiful plant! It looks very healthy with it's strong stems and beautiful glowing leaves. Nice job. Is that your Muay Thai?

Kanaman - Thanks for passing along the positive vibes.

It has been hovering around 100 degrees here for the past several weeks. I hear it is supposed to drop down into the 80s this weekend. I hope so. I like to visit my gals in comfort.

Cheers,

Greetings,

I have an indoor update. The Oaxacan is progressing quickly and smells strongly of pepper and ammonia.

picture.php

The GN x NHz x MM is still looking very early in it's bud formation, but slowly building colas.

I upped the fertilizer a tiny bit because some older leaves turned yellow and started dying a little early for such long flowering plants, in my opinion. I would usually be decreasing a tiny bit at a time. Now, I think I made a mistake. I think the yellowing of the older leaves was due to heat stress. The plants are looking over fertilized now. I'll slowly back off on it.

I started the next round of trip tests, a couple of Bushman's Jamaican and about 5 Cambodian. The Cambodians are very old seeds. After about a week, only one Jamaican has sprouted.

Infinitesimal,

Thanks for the heads up. This sounds exactly what I am looking for. I've got to go Google this and find out where I can get some.

Thanks Much,

My heart was beating fast from skimming that thread, but I just did a little research, and I found Chimera's "Highland Mexican":

"Genetic Heritage by region: Mexico, Thailand, Columbia, Afghanistan"

This allowed me to calm down and not feel like I totally missed the boat on this one. I think I'm on the right track already. I have a Mexican and a Thai dominant plant in the oven right now, which from my past experience are the sources of the vibe I want to feel. I can do without the Columbian and Afghani for the moment.

:dance013:

Interestingly, I have my eye on another thread that has Neville's Haze x Blueberry. I have smoked Blueberry before and was not greatly impressed, but it seems there are great ones out there and apparently they cross well with some other interesting strains.

This is exactly what I was hoping for in this thread, for people like Infinitesimal, to help each other with our search for fine trippy strains that are out there some where.

I'm going back to that thread and read more carefully a time or two so I can absorb any possible hints about growing these strains.

Mucho Gracias,

ThaiBliss

African Black Magic/ Ituri Norie

this is what I can conclude I've been reading about a black strain of weed found in the Ituri Forest in the Democratic Republic of Congo and that the Pygmies of the forest smoke it and it is said to be very psychedelic

links did not work. images did not upload. copy and paste this into "google".

that sounds like a DJ quote... he says the african black looked like shit and wash harsh but also the most potent herb he's ever smoked... compared it to smoked DMT.

Greetings,

I have been doing some research on Chimera's seeds, and I found a few interesting things.

"Trip" is listed in a cross with Blueberry. Apparently, Trip is a nickname for Big Sur Holy Weed (Mexican Zacatecas Purple x Afghani) and is described as the strain used in SAGE. Apparently, I have found Trip weed already.

I'm only half joking. I do believe my SAGE cut has a slight bit of trippy to it, and has survived 4 years as one of the best in my small collection from my 10 year search for some trippy weed that I can cross to my seeds of the legendary freak Neville's Haze cut I once had. If I found THE ONE that I am looking for, I would get rid of SAGE, but not before folding it's genetics into my line. It has survived too long to not contribute. Perhaps I am a little too sentimental to be a good breeder, but I think SAGE has a lot of good traits besides the quality of the high, superb aroma; fast flowering; easy to grow; vigorous; killer bag appeal.

Here is a post about Trip from the Chimera thread:

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showpost.php?p=4298363&postcount=147

The other seeds I find interesting are Vision Thai, Highland Thai x Afghani backcrossed 3 times to Highland Thai while selecting for early flowering and the Thai high. Obviously, I think the old Thai Sticks are the gold standard of what I think is a trippy high, and I like the energetic and euphoric vibe it has. This breeding strategy used in Vision Thai is essentially what I am working towards except I'm going to use something with a better high than the Afghani, like Bangi Haze or something similar if I can find something more potent (unlikely).

Of course, I also think the Highland Mexican (Guerrero) is interesting. Chimera describes this as "stellar".

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showpost.php?p=521523&postcount=1

If I found Chimera offered the Mexican x Trip, Vision Thai x Mexican, or any other combinations with these three strains, I'd probably jump and grab them. Seed vendors rarely cross and offer their stellar cuts. They usually use them to cross with easier to grow varieties.

I should probably look for a good selection of pure Big Sur Holy Weed. I grew it once, and got rid of it. I think I had something better at the time, I don't remember what, but the high grew on me as I smoked it more, or got better as it cured. In the end, I regretted getting rid of it. Snow High once posted pictures of Big Sur... that looked far more Sativa dominant than the one I had.

An observation of the indoor flowering cabinet: The GN x NHz x MM started out airy and wispy and is getting more dense clusters, while the Oaxacan started out relatively compact and dense but is now getting airier and wispy from the fox-tailing that has started in earnest in the last day or two. Funny... huh?

Have a good day,

ThaiBliss

yeah the "trip" cut was big sur bag seed found in a film canister labeled "trip" it could have meant road trip for all I know lol.

I think I would rather cross the HM x BB to the thai stick than grow the vision thai... although backcrossed why even meddle with the afghan genes a pure thai x bb would have been better IMO.

stellar individuals from landrace populations are pretty hard to find... one of the reasons I think the guerrero cross is so awesome not only is it a real un worked landrace its a highly selected one too.

the catch is going to be finding individuals in the cross that breed true for the qualities... otherwise it becomes just another needle in another hay stack that we must search through to find the trippy and awe inspiring effects we are looking for.

what is the origin of the oaxaca you are growing?

I believe I recently read somewhere... or heard in a you tube clip that TH seeds used either a big sur holy x afghani hybrid or that same "trip" cut as the mother, fathered by an afghani to create Sativa Afghan Genetic Equilibrium (S.A.G.E.)...

theoretically genetic equilibrium is where the expression of traits among a population doesn't deviate over generations, practically, regardless of the individuals selected from a population...

I would have to spend some time to try and find the source info but I think it was the big sur holy weed x afghan used as the mother for sage... making it 3/4 afghan, pure big sur holy weed is supposed to be very very staiva dominant if not near pure... and it has difficulty finishing properly outside a greenhouse even in so cal (based on what I've learned, as I have never grown it)

what is the origin of the oaxaca you are growing?

This is the story as I remember it, which could be totally wrong. It was collected by someone on the coast of southern Oaxacan near the town of Copalita. It was smuggled by locals from the Oaxaca highlands on footpaths down to the coast, probably where the surfer tourists hang out. I'm old and forgetful, so that is the story I'm sticking with.

It looks like an authentic old school Mexican strain to me.

The pure Vision Thai was lost as far as I know. The reports of the VT x BB dont sound Sativa leaning or trippy. The Trip x BB sounded alright but the smoke reports from the HM X BB are all amazing. I dont know that Chimera has the Mexican in pure form any longer. He has never mensioned having it. Would be cool if he had HM x Flo sense it leans more Oaxacan then the BB. I like the HM X BB and Zamaldelic reports the best and made sure I have a nice stash of them and Kangas gear.

Seems like one of us has to strike gold. Enough are digging thats for sure.

I got to say ThaiBliss this is one of my favorate threads to visit!

i do have a chimera trip x bb, throws wild leaves, have not seen it before, similar to an image of bodhis cut iv seen on google.

its not a 'narrow leaf' or a 'wideleaf' its a 'narrow wideleaf'

truly unique when compared to the 'alligator claw' of a zamadelica or the 'dinner plate' a deep chunk will throw out.

it has a 'refreshing' smell, similar to the minty-liver of a mextiza. if i remember correctly 'bob' said when shes done right you'll cry for 5 hours.

from some of the picture i have seen of the 'recent' resurfacing of the black african, it looks awfully tamed to be seeds from wild selection... pictures remind me some what of the 'black' phenos from bangi haze.

Hey bud, you know I'm keeping an eye on things here and enjoying your updates. I would love to see your Copalita Oaxacan outside with the Banghis - but I understand, so I'm looking forward to running some in a few months. Thanks for the updates on the Thai x NHz x MM. I've got to say I love this cross the most of anything I'm smoking, some of the phenos sound like your special Nevil's Haze freak in the high dept. I haven't encountered any hay yet. The sweet citrus is putting me straight in the heart chakra for hours - it's hard to stop smoking it....
