The Search for Trip Weed

:tiphat:
That's what I'm talking about!

Lyfespan - Please post pictures and updates here as you search through those seeds.

So... what genetics went into Satori? Do I have it right that it is Nepalese x Purple Haze? If so, I might cross my SAGE x Purple Haze Thai with a Bangi Haze (Nepalese x Congolese) x Wicked Weed to bring down the ripening time.

I want to funnel all the good genetics I'm saving down to 3 or 4 separate lines. I will try to keep the ones that are most related together in the hopes of phenotypes from ancient lineages will pop out of the population now and then.

All - If you think or know you are on to a trippy variety, feel free to use this thread as your grow journal. If trippy is what you are searching for, breading, smoking, remembering, or writing about, I'd like this thread to be the "one stop shop". It could be a time saver.

ThaiBliss

will probably be a minute before getting to pop those, so many others on deck right now. but i will make a SATORI post for sure, people need to have more strains like this floating around

On the topic of trippy stuff, music brings out the auditory hallucinations. Years ago my friend had amazing Alaskan Thunderfuck. We would listen to CCR, turned up loud. Every time we'd hear Susie Q we'd hear the phone ringing. Hunt all over the house, find the damn phone and nothing. Took us a while to realize it was the music.
For visual hallucinations lack of light is key. Same Thunderfuck, running around a graveyard at night. Our night vision wouldn't really kick in, too many colors swirling around. My friend slid 20 feet down a muddy cliff into a creek, walked right off it.
Mushrooms also, darkness combined with potent cannabis can have amazing effects. I'd agree that usually they just enhance what's there. But sometimes, magic. I recommend putting a sleeping bag over your head.
I was having a bad trip, got depressed and stuck my head in the sleeping bag. In the darkness I had a vision of a multidimensional deity. Hindu God type being. Figured out what the multi arm and head thing was. This guy was in a garden with two attendants, had an infinite number of heads, arms and legs. Realized what those images represent, a being immune to time. Those heads and arms are all the moments of his existence, compounded into an image a 3 dimensional being like myself can perceive. I felt an incredible bliss, came out of the sleeping bag and had a great time.
Getting off topic, but I'll mention one other incident, this time with some lighting. My friend had cropped a bunch of Northern Lights, one of the first harvests I was involved in. It had hermied full of seed so he couldn't sell it. We had to smoke it all.
Sitting around his friends' apartment, tripping and smoking tough. Laying back on the floor I was so relaxed, I saw a Roman style garden superimposed over the room. I'd close my eyes and see it. Open them and see the room but still see the pleasure garden. Pillars, ponds, Roman style architecture, it was a beautiful place.

@thaibliss I definetly wil look into thread. Definitely could be a relation between the drying method and the effects/strength of the final product. By the way some of the weed we get here is still wrapped in the 'thai stick' fashion except we call them 'brown sticks'......at least I do.

@therevverend so are you saying that when you smoke in complete darkness, you tend to trip out more or you smoke first then surround yourself in complete darkness?
I have also noticed that when I wake n bake a few hours after my usual time (usually midday) and when the sun is fully out and am standing( doesn't work when I sit) the weed seems to be a bit stronger.

Peace.

O.K.,

Here is a sampling of some of the strains that I am planning on growing in the next year or two:

Nanan-Bouclou (Papua New Guinea Gold x Haitian)
Zamaldelica x Malawi Gold
Destroyer x Fire Fox Tail
Jamaican Ganja (60's Lambsbread)
Oaxacan
Gypsy Nirvana Thai Stick x (Mullumbimby Madness x Neville's Haze)
Panama (Green Pheno)
Cambodian
Colombian Punto Rojo

Just to prove that I'm willing to overcome my fear of Indica looking phenotypes, one of the ones on deck next is Nanan-Bouclou. It looks very Indica-like. However it does have leaves with 11 leaflets so far, and it is not yet mature enough for flowering. Many Sativas have high leaflet counts, and many Indicas have low leaflet counts. It also does not smell acrid at all. I believe the fat leaves come from the Haitian side. I'm hoping that the Haitian side is the source for the "NYC Piff", or "Church Haze". Here are some pictures:

A funny start for someone searching for extreme Sativa-like trippy power.

I have a couple of others on deck for the same flowering cycle. More on that later.

Thinking back to the late 70's... the best strain that would have you seeing stars on a rising shotgun joint hit was the real punta roja colombian Gold.

i remember sifting and oz of seeds outta a QP.

^^ All those seeds people threw away. Man. I could have just asked for seeds from some elite strains that I could not afford and most would have said sure, was going to toss them anyways.

Been tripping balls for a week. Really worn out.

Its funny to me when people say they've never tripped from cannabis. Especially because I love getting them freaked out from a strong brownie or FECO.
Cannabis IS and entheogen

So, I've been making brownies with my outdoor harvest. Mostly sativa hybrids, some africans, and some kush/og stuff.
The first batch I made was super narcotic. Super trippy but it was so strong that I was in my bed and couldnt even focus my eyes - I was stuck in that trip world: like a 5 gram mushroom trip where your vision pops back and forth between reality and the other dimensions. I kept finding myself contorted and contracted and arousing myself from that astral slumber from the sound of me choking. I dont know if anyone has ever been on pain medicine where you nod off and you choke and gasp from being so sedated. Thats what was hapening - from cannabis.
Since that batch, I've made 5 more (and a dosed funfetti cake) and I really have the recipe dialed in. The first batch was 1/4pound buds to 1cup butter. Yup.
I now do an ounce per 1/2 cup, but I play chemist and use some carriers in the resipe.
The 5 batches with this recipe have been perfect. Definitely a daywrecker, but not lethargic. Instead, you feel active but then get that brutal headfuck like mushroomsare
peakingn and you need to sit down because you see green. Laying down, the intense visuals start to dominate. Closed-eyed visuals are in your vision as your eyes are open but closing your eyes just makes it that much more intense as you feel like you are flying/falling.

I've been smoking GTxCCf2 and its the "devastating malawi" pheno of Golden tiger. Shit hits real hard - like headband but with an active buzz, though I havent been active because I always have to sit down. Lol. . I've been getting queezy when I smoke more than a few tokes.

I feel blessed to be experiencing trip weed/cannabis.

Much Love

Lovely pictures Yaxu... those Peruvian Reds from Santa Teresa look amazing!

Same with the old hemp picture... Not many time ago I've found out that Chile was one of the biggest hemp producers wordwide, together with others as China, Korea or France. Very interesting indeed. I'm sure there must be a rich hemp farming heritage there.

Vibes bro!

Saludos musta!

Could someone give me a quick recap / "tl;dr" of the trippiest weed strains (and ideally where to find their seeds/clones in Colorado)? Cheers

Zamaldelica and other Zamal hybrids have been consistently mentioned in this thread as being exceptionally psychedelic. Probably damn near impossible to find in a store/disp though.

Thai-based genetics seem to be a common mention as well, so look into the genetic lineage of available strains and see if any reach back to Southeast Asian sativas.

It's worth mentioning that each individual's determination of a strain as "trippy" or "psychedelic" varies, ie: some expect speedy, clear headed effects, while others would regard more dreamy or introspective effects with the same qualifier.

As with all entheogens, they come into your life at the right moment.
But, trippy plants are everywhere. Even hasplants and indicas can throw out trippy plants.

But yea, a quick readthrough of this thread should give you all the info you need.

You need (semi-)landrace genetics, anything that has been worked for mainstream purposes (i.e. yield) will not be trippy not matter what the breeder says. If there's any substantial amount of indica in there, move on. Don't worry, if you don't like a speedy sativa high, there are plenty that are more dreamy.

Middle-American (particularly Mexican) genetics for me have the best trade-off: very reasonable flowering times and choice of speedy or dreamy laid-back highs. Further south, the flowering times tend to increase (closer to equator), but so do your chances of finding something incredible. My best experience: Double Jam.

African genetics are famous for their caffeinated bursts of jittery energy, and a good one can be quite trippy. My pick: Bangi Haze and Zamaldelica.

Thai takes a long time, but well worth it. It has spacious, mind-expanding, up-UP-UP!!!! highs. Didn't have a really trippy one from 6 Double Thais, but there's got to be some varieties that are.

Pure hazes offer a wide variety of experiences, but require selection from a large number of plants.

MostlyMe,

I really liked your summary of where to find trippy weed. Good to see you posting here. I think it has been a while. Hope you are doing well.
:tiphat:

Haze and Thai are the best examples of what I think are trippy and are the most potent, but a good Haze is hard to find, and Thai are very difficult to grow.

Easiest to grow and find are probably Zamaldelica, but I actually like the quality of Bangi Haze or a good Mexican. Lots of people like Kali Mist, and I like Burmese. South East Asia might be the source for all the trip weeds.

Hi TB, thanks and yes I am doing well! I was never really away, just didn't feel motivated to contribute. I find run of the mill THC talk not very stimulating and circular. I need a topic to latch onto, something new to ponder. After our spirited debate here and finding middle ground, the trippy thing kinda lost it's appeal. But I kept checking this thread, hoping something controversial would pop up... It didn't, but hey... :)

Best wishes to you too!

Haze and Thai are the best examples of what I think are trippy and are the most potent, but a good Haze is hard to find, and Thai are very difficult to grow.

That depends on how you grow them. If you use an organic compost-rich soil, you can leave them to it and you don't need anything else. Just pot up if needed.

Easiest to grow and find are probably Zamaldelica, but I actually like the quality of Bangi Haze or a good Mexican. Lots of people like Kali Mist, and I like Burmese. South East Asia might be the source for all the trip weeds.

ThaiBliss

Kali Mist and it's sister Western Winds are in my current line-up. I had some commercial KM and it did have that Thai quality to the high. I would be extremely lucky to find a pheno like that from 2 seeds though.

Some months ago, on a weekend afternoon, while thinking on, let's say, a scientific hoppy of mine, I smoked a little Zamaldelica and it got me so inspired and focused, I really dug into the topic, so much that I felt like taking a very small hit of acid to enhance and prolong this effect. This desire surprised me because I hadn't used psychedelics for a few years before that, and never had had the need or urge to take psychedelics for a practical, useful reason. But my high was so thought-productive and motivating, that I felt brave enough for a small dose in a casual day with meetings in the evening. I smiled at the thought that Zamaldelica is definitely The "Search for Trip" Weed :)
I have eaten 1/8ths of a blotter (still strong after 7-9 years in the fridge) on several occasions since then and I find this small dose (maybe about 20-25mcg) to be great both for physical and mental work - 10 hours of maximal productivity without the after effects of stimulants. And while my pure-effect pheno of Zamaldelica is quite close in effect to a small dose of acid, the combination is rather edgy and I much more prefer to mix with Panama, which is great at taking the acid's razor edge off, bringing peace and harmony, without losing clarity.

Zamaldelica

Zamaldelica

Here is a little Zamaldelica that I pulled from a pack of Ace Tropical Mix (standard) last summer. It fits the primary theme of this thread for sure, and has a lot of special qualities. Not enough can be said about this line so here's my contribution to the knowledge base of this wonderful sativa.

Environment: Indoor under HPS using coir-based mix amended with organic goodies and lots of clean water.

Schedule: 4 weeks veg, 12 weeks flowering with an 11/13 photoperiod. Harvested when the plant seemed to have run its course and was rapidly approaching senescence. Trichomes were around 80% cloudy.

Yield: Marginal, but this particular plant seemed very sensitive to heat, especially since it defied any training attempts with its mighty stalks and insisted on standing upright. Produced fat colas but my inability to offer her the environment she needed made them airier than I feel they could have been.

The Senses:
Fantastically Old School. This plant produced trichomes sparingly, but the tiny calyxes are jam packed with dense concentrations of them that are only really evident under magnification. Mild citrus, then carrot, then earth in the nose. A dominant flavor is hard to pick out because it is just so smooth and sweet. There could be a fruitiness there, but maybe it is more Sweet Earth. Delicate buds, due again at least in part to my slightly hotter than average July/August grow.

The High: And in this case high is definitely the appropriate descriptor. Here's what it isn't: terrifying and racy (but it was before a 4 month cure), necessarily "warm". Like many I combine this plant with Indicas or hybrids on occasion depending on what I am after.

What it is is pretty spectacular. Cerebral and trippy in the sense that it can definitely alter your perception of space/perspective and take on a highly vibratory, transportative type of feel. Not visually hallucinatory, but with definite spatial distortions. As far as I can tell it lacks a ceiling altogether, though I have never tested it beyond a certain extent . Something about what this does to my mouth/face makes it reminiscent of the lysergic, as advertised.

Good medicine for the spirit, and very invigorating but without a lot of euphoria or "rocket fuel" effects. Worth every second I gave it in my grow room and then some.

Through temperatures just exceeding 90 degrees on about 10 days, a minor bout with mites early in flower and becoming rootbound late in flower this plant remained stable in its sexual expression.

This lady was hit with the only pollen I had on hand at the time, a pair of vigorous and heavily sativa dominant Hawaiian Sativa x Sweet Tooth #3 dudes. Testing is ongoing. Subsequent seedlots yielded 2 Zamaldelica males of good vigor and abundant flowers. These were mated to two Durga Mata and one Aurora Indica.

Thanks Ace for this rare Manna from the far corners of the world over here in the Land of Kush!
