The Search for Trip Weed

Hey Thai,

You know I like to share when I find anything good. Well I do believe I have found the best thing to happen to indoor growing in years :)

But it comes with a HUGE WARNING !!!!

I'm talkin bout the Agromax Pure UV T5 bulb. I've run UV and actinic bulbs for several years now so when I saw this one I had to try it. But this is not your standard UV bulb, this bulb is very serious !!!!

I got 3 of em NOTE: ya don't need 3, 1 will cover 4X4, I put em in, not thinkin nothin of it, I was standin in front of em at the edge of my garden for less than 3 minutes and had leaned in to look at a bud with a loupe which was approx 30 seconds with my left shoulder 8 inches from one of the bulbs. In that short time I got a sunburn, and my left shoulder blistered.

I had walked away and left em, when I came back to check things all the plants were burnt (the Dalat is recovering) badly, I removed 2 of the bulbs and left the center (highest) one these bulbs were 3 feet off the canopy, plants were only a foot tall. I left the one bulb and the next morning the plants were worse, basically dying. I removed the 1 bulb removed the dead plant matter and put the plants back in veg to recover. This was a total of 10 hours that these bulbs were on.

This bulb wants its own fixture and timer !!! it should be run for 15 min during the center 4 hours of the light cycle to mimic noon sun. It needs to be 3 feet (minimum) off the canopy !!!

I had this Kali Mist in week 4 of flower it is a 100 day plant, the UVB basically finished it. It was covered in trics and most all of em went amber, I have included before and after pics. All the pistils turned red, so I chopped off the top 6 inches and put it back in veg hoping to re-veg it.

Then I dried and smoked that 4 week top and guess what it was a great high, taste not so much as it was fast dried but the buzz was awesome !!!

PLEASE DO NOT take these bulbs lightly (like I did) if you decide to use em. Turn em off when you are workin in your garden !!!!

Riddleme - Thanks for sharing. I'm glad you found a real industrial quality UV bulb.

Have you grown and smoked the Kali Mist before getting this bulb? I'm not a questioning the results. I'm sold on broad spectrum, including UV. I'm just curious with your experience with Kali Mist. I acquired a cutting myself.

Any chance you secured that Zacatecas Purple yet? I'm going to want to see lots of pictures.

Good to know Riddleme. I have the Agromax 10,000 K bulbs, do not think they produce uv. The little uvb cfl's for lizards are safer but only go a foot at most for any uvb. Not really sure if the uvb is helpful or not, I know it changes the cannabinoid profile somewhat and bumps up the thc a bit.

Not sure if it makes the smoke more tripped out. Might just be the high intensity, and high Kelvin light in general. Weezard thinks that and lives in Hawaii, land of high intensity sun.

UV decrades THC to some extent but the effect on the terpenes is probably greater (as is infrared's)

riddleme this: why are all your solutions hazardous to human health (lead, UV, etc.....)? Just kidding do what you will. ;).

High Uv is bad for humans as eb points out ,
where i live we have some of the highest skin cancer in the world,
i think us white folk arent sposed to be here ,
tropical sun at altitude is great for the cannabis , but doesnt seem to be as good for our skin or eyes ...

G`day Wal , RM

The contemporary school uniforms in Oz.
Wide brim hat and wrap around sunglasses .

Melanoma kills a lotta people down here .

Clear skies during flower make the diff . Too many clouds and the end product is noticeably different .

Round here 1 year in 7 is a bumper mango fruit season .
Rain when the blossoms set means low yields . Similar for ganja .

Thanks for sharin

^ exactly what I found on the soa Malawi gold. I also found some strains that performed great under constant dreary, overcast rainy conditions during the flowering window.

This bulb actually allows us to replicate equator uvb levels

I had not smoked the Kali prior, and it is the same cut you got

Still waiting on the Zacatecas Purple

Is it just me or does anyone else think of those Leprechaun horror films when you post? Maybe time for a new sequel about growers of UV illuminated lead-laden Zamaldelica.
Just kidding. I. Really want to try those lights.

Hey, I'm not the only one doin it

The reason why burst of true uv work in our gardens,,,,,

Diurnal Variability

The variation throughout the course of the day (diurnal) of UV radiation is much like that of visible light. Figure 1 overlays a mostly clear day's observations of the "global" or mostly visible radiation and UV radiation. Notice how UV radiation is much more attenuated than the global at high solar zenith angles in the early morning and late afternoon. This is because the two components which make up UV and all other forms of radiation; the direct and the diffuse, are both greatly affected at these low sun angles. Direct UV radiation is greatly reduced by the increased absorption by stratospheric ozone during its increased path length through the atmosphere (about 6 times more than when the sun is directly overhead). Also, radiation at the UV wavelengths is scattered much more than visible light. This further decreases the direct component and increases the diffuse component. As the Sun rises above the horizon, the amount of absorption in the stratosphere and scattering in the troposphere is reduced. The result is a drastic increase in UV radiation reaching the surface.

The variation of surface temperature differs significantly from both UV and global radiation. Where as the diurnal variation of incoming infrared radiation is similar to that of global radiation, there exists a delay between the time when the earth-atmosphere system is irradiated to when the temperature begins to increase. This is know as the thermal response. Depending upon the time of the year the lag in time between the peak radiation flux reaching the surface (solar noon) to when the surface temperature reaches its maximum can be as great as 3 to 4 hours. For example, have you noticed that it is hottest in the mid afternoon not at noon. A typical summer surface temperature plot is shown in Figure 2 showing how the peak temperature is reached later in the afternoon. By the time of the temperature maximum, the amount of UV radiation reaching the surface has decreased almost by half of that at solar noon.

The product that has its heavy-metal impurities listed (proudly) is supposed to contain less of these impurities than the products where this information is "skipped" :) So, you are not feeding with more lead than with any other mineral fertilizer with similar ingredients.

UV light however really speeds up flowering and maturation of resin. The same clone flowered outdoors under the sun is ready in fewer weeks than when flowered indoors.

sheeeiiit, if we want to trip then we need to get that "entourage effect" by taking flu shots before we toke up:

CDC Caught Hiding Data Showing Mercury in Vaccines Linked to Autism
In a press release issued last year, one that almost no mainstream media sources have bothered to report, it was announced that Dr. Brian Hooker had finally received documents from the CDC through a Freedom of Information Act that revealed the CDC had access to data linking Thimerosal in vaccines to autism, non-organic sleep disorders, and speech disorders.
This information is very damaging to the CDC, which has stated for years that there are no studies linking the mercury of Thimerosal in vaccines to autism.

Thimerosal is a mercury-based preservative that has been used for decades in the United States in multi-dose vials (vials containing more than one dose) of medicines and vaccines.
oh, I forgot. cannabis is illegal because it's harmful. Just take a few flu shots, spread 'em on something and then cob 'em for a month. chew that for the "mad as a hatter" effect.

hell yeah!

LOL You reminded me of an incident circa 1980. There was a guy about our age that my friend and I would buy weed from. Not sure but I think his diagnosis was autism, probably Asperges type. One day he gave us some of his meds which made me feel autistic. My friend and I drove back to our college town in separate cars. We kept getting out to kick the tires because it felt like we were sliding over the road. Later that night I watched a religious program and kept seeing the priests words as type on the screen. I would realize the illusion when I would run out of screen at the bottom but, try as I might, I could not keep from doing it over and over.

Word. Intense sunlight at mild temperatures is the key. Then you have to work on the other hundreds of variables.
