According to one the original NL breeding crew nl#2 is a pure indica:

The 11 packets of seed Nevil received were graded the #1 ,2, 3, were 100% indica, #5 the clone I traded Herbie Nelson for was 50% Afghani & 50% Hawaiian sativa. The others #6-#11 were crosses with Columbian, Thai, and Mexican Sativas.

The 11 strains were graded by height and flavor for indoor growing. The #1 was a short phenotype pure Indica from Afghaniatan as was #2,3, & 4.

#5 to #11 was the Hybrids with the narrow leaved strains we worked with.

I brought NL Strains to Ben and Nevil in the Netherlands and genetics from California were not involved as the strains from Hawaii were superior at the time. At that point and time the Californians were coming to Seattle looking for the wonder weed coming out of The Emerald City and the Pacific Northwest.

I've only just come across this thread so forgive me if I haven't taken the time to read it all, but I truly believe the RKS is still alive and kicking. It seems many are on the hunt to try and track down clones but my way of thinking was tracking down the original seeds. The ones made by Mendocino Joe & the crew back in the 70's are the guys responsible for the RKS.

I'm lucky enough to have some of these pure along with some crosses that had been made. Any homies out there holding any of these that would be willing to participate in a preservation project?

Anyone out there with original Mendo Joe beans? come on peeps lets keep this baby alive. I would have rather had a bigger selection before I'd f2'd these, then with the plan to take them further to lock that bitch down.

No one?

I'm still holding out hope that Tom Hill releases some N. Indian seeds. I'll deal with some intersex traits if I can find some proper RKS funk.

^ I wouldn't hold your breath...

TH seems to have left the building.

KTF, those seeds are only getting older, probably best just to get it done.

What ever happened to that guy 2 pages back with the end all be all RKS, we get a cool story and promised pics then nothing...

Im starting to think the best method to find this terp profile is not sit around waiting for some 30 yr old clone to magically appear but to actively get busy breeding a new roadkill. I think Chem is a good place to start, my Chem91xSFV/Appalachia has some definite roadkill characterisitcs, but its not fully skunk.

Thanks peeps, so much written online these days!
I knew the story of sk#1, but when I heard this I thought maybe it was a different sk line.
Never smelled a real skunk (don't get em in uk! ) so I wouldn't know the true smell.
I know that the skunk we had in uk early 90s stank the house out tho!

Sk1 can not be recreated in one cross. You have to follow the steps Sam took to make it . A undaunted task in my opinion for what I would call a novelty strain.

I don't think anyone is trying to recreate the sweet sk1. I like that skunk, don't get me wrong but I think people here are searching for the stink

3 simple steps

First
Genetics of the 70's . Can you source a true colombian gold and Acapulco gold . More soo if the smell is what you want a pure 70's affie . Because common knowledge tells which parent contributed this trait to the skunk strain

Second
Now you need to do proper selection , real large number selection . Which probably less than a handful of breeders are doing today

Third (I think storm shadow has shown its still possible with his recent Iranian stock )
Aquire some pure affie direct from the region an follow number two

If your searching the same stock or hopin a old clone gets spread like GG . Your not doin all you can and its most likely RKS won't resurface anytime soon

Soo make it happen n get crackin
