Im Testing an unstable cross which is my first attempt at "roadkill". It leads me to believe i am on to something... Only it needs to be made different, this cross tells me I am on to something good...
The growth,plant phenotype, leaf pheno, and budset are very close on my F1 ...
Lime green golfball shaped nugs, squat bushy plant....
Smelly at 2 weeks old....
But it does have a rather sickly sweet smell to the skunkiness, I beleive I know from where this influence comes... The re-do should be dead on....
I need one more "pure parental' line, but at least Im pretty sure I know 'which' parental line I need...... Im frantically trying to search down the camera charger.. I'll edit in a pic when i do if it takes weeks even....
After seeing how the budset was forming- I switched her over to 18/6 and she is reverting to veg as we speak...Small lime golfballs of skunkiness are barely visible....
All parental lineage is being withheld at the moment of course...
Timelines- I been hitting the pipe here in cali since 1971..... I first discovered the "roadkill" in 1980.... It was being sold by the "1% club" in ocean beach...
It was supposedly being grown, and came from fallbrook california.. At least that's one story.....of one roadkill... Lime green golfballs of skunky greatness making your forehead sweat ....almost like a fat line of cocaine (the sweating effect)....
And that's the clue from hell.... (for me at least)

If my deductions are correct afghani is only half the parental stock (not 1/3 BTW)
But you are on the right track....Now out of well over 20 afghani varieties try and find the best one... What some would call "primo" afghani....

hey people, I was at reefermans forums, and saw a thread about a guy currently in Afghanistan with U.S. military, he said he saw a-lot of skunky weed while there. He said he sent seeds back to friends/family; just a thought maybe afghanistan is the origin of RKS. In my experience growing skunk, most of it was some kind of Indica-sativa hybrid. Always was the best smoke, some plants were sativa dominant in the way they grew but most tended to be indica dominant. The high seemed to be the best of both, and the sativa dominant phenotypes didn't have as strong of a Skunk smell, although it was still very strong. that could also be because maybe the seeds I started with were not pollinated by a pure skunky male. don't really know though because back then all I used was the best of bagseed and then what I produced. I definately know what real RKS smells like though as I have been sprayed by a skunk on more than one occasion. Living out in the woods does has a few disadvantages .HaHa! I live in the city now, sadly.

Tom hill's "Hill temple skunk" is reputedly decended from this line...
I'd stake my reputatiuon on tom's... Us cali boys gotta stick together. He He He.
But what im after is A F1 version of the fallbrook roadkill. (or was it from trinity?)

people still have this strain,,,, its just that alot dont post anymore after emery went down.... people stopped growing it cause of security risks (smell) and because peeps wer einto the low odor northern lights indoor buds!

then reeferman or someone will say they've made it and you'll end up paying 120/00 for 10 seeds cuase its got a reeferman or rez sticker on it???

i remember when certain people were a member of the seed swap club in the mid nineties and we traded the same stuff everybody is payin thru the nose for!!!!

the afghani is the biggest part of the rancid smell but not the total equasion!
the sativa side of skunk is what its all about!!!! it is the indica style bushyness with the sativa high!!!

thats what skunk is,,,,,, a sativa that finishes early and has the skunky smell ,,,,hence the name skunk!
unfortunately sam the skunkman bred the skunk out of skunk from what i am reading???
i have some that gypsy gave me about 5 years ago but i never popped them........ but to me,,,, that is like dj turning blueberry into a strwberry and still callin it blueberry

ive had everything and nothing stinks like the real skunk!!!!
i know cause ive had it for ever!!!
i will make seed for new generations and ive allready commited to sending a few packs out!
to spread the plant around,,, not for someone to cash in !!!!

Roadkill is a must have for me. I want f1 because the growth is more virile.
I would love the old kill, but what the hell.

LOOKS VERY CLOSE BUT EVERY PLANT LOOKS CLOSE AT THAT STAGE!
its about the finished product,,,,,,, and rks is a ibl so there is no f1 cross....
all the plants turn out alike in potency , high and structure,,,, you can try to recreate it but that would be like saying i will recreate northern lights or widow,,,, yeah it can be done but there was several years in the making and breeding of these !
they are a classic !!!!

they are not extinct !!! just were tossed aside for the smorgasboard of new frosty non smelling indica hybrids,,,, after 94-95 you stopped seeing the real good skunk and more northern lights stuff!

ps.... there is no lack in vigor either!
these mofos are strong like trees!!!! not finicky like widow !
they are hardy , robust green bud machines!!!!
these are from seed i used to grow before i went dutch & canadian,,,,
this is the real skunk,,,, i never tried tom hill stuff or anything ,,,,i also will say that i tried skunk #1 and it is not the same ! i was actually dissapointed with skunk #1 that i grew,,,, it wasnt the skunkmans seeds that i still have in a small ziplok but one i got from willie jack seeds from emery's site about 8 years ago,,,, they were a sensi knock-off company that took 50 seeds from each sensi strain and made their own seeds and sold them for 40.00
i cant say for sure about anything i never seen!
all i know is what i have and i will be pollenating more in the upcomming week !

This is what i do I have fun... I love breeding. I really get a kick when people ask me for more seeds of my own strains. Like the ones i culled from landrace stock....
I don't sell my seeds, but Even if i did there are worse ways to make a living.
I spent years developing what I have, I'll charge something fair if I ever sell seeds though.
I used to feel the same as you, but a couple years of full time study and development has enlightened me to another train of thought.
It's the weed that should be free, and if someone makes something worthy he should be able to get a fair price....
Heirloom tomatoes are what 2 to 5 dollars a pack?
What would a fair price be? nothing over 50 bucks id say.. For anything...

I am of the opinion that it is made up of North/Central and South American strains as live on a border state where the weed rolls through constantly ... I have seen true skunk(smells like a day old dead polecat) roll through many many times ... its generally once a year and the stuff makes the rounds of another shipment from across the border...

It comes in brick and dirt brown to green and airy to imo the holy grail Lime green and hard as a rock... sad to say I have not seen the holy grail in damn near 20 yrs... but it all rolls north to me from just across the border to the south..... all of it no mater what it loks like stinking to high heaven of a day old polecat in the sun.

Yeah it's hard to do it just for the love when ya don't (or can't) work, somehow we manage....I end up with seedy weed a lot, no-one wants seedy greenbud,L.O.L.

this stuff was chunky kinda hard yellowish green nugs with tha smell from hell!
years after this they had arizona buds which was just a common name for midgrade that was stinky and good but not this good!
the shit i got is the honest to goodness real skunk!
