Mel has some amazing pics on his IG, so many good ones from the 70s, 80s and 90's. His photo collection really displays the monumental leap forward cannabis has made in such a short period of time.

He has one pic of a High Times cover photo from 1996 that was probably hot shit in its day that would pass for poops today. Interesting stuff.
You got it, super interesting to follow such a knowledge guy, sharing knowledge freely with the community.

Is it alluring?
Or would most non potheads be kinda grossed out?

I've been looking into making cannabis perfumes/colognes and there appears to be demand for the road kill skunk terps for cannabis perfumes/colognes . pretty funny imo.

Back in 1978 I tried to trademark the name "SinSemilla - The Essence of Florescence" as a perfume. I hoped that later I could branch out, being that it was the first use of that name, and use Sinsemilla with weed when it became legal. Little did I know that it would take almost another 40 years!

I got through the first level of trademark registration. I had to show interstate commerce so I made up a baggie of flower pieces and local herbs and sent it to my brother in Kansas. He first sent me an "order" for the "product" along with a check for $5.00.

The next level of registration involved the US gov office to do a deeper search and make sure it was not already in use in any similar way. I hired a Patent/Trademark attorney and spent close to $500 before the office examiner wrote back to my attorney that there was no way in hell that he would agree to trademark a name that could be asssociated with marijuana.

I guess he read the newspapers and magazines back then because not many normal joes knew that "sin semilla" meant seedless and was used to describe the up and coming new breed of weed hitting the streets back then.

I came across someone working on trademarking "Skunk" and they spent a lot before their attourney said to just back away.

Many people dont understand that it may be legal at a state level but at the federal level its still a Class I so no judge will hear any case relating to cannabis.
And this needs to stop being a state issue - once the federal laws change it wont matter what states say.
However, the Fed govt has patents on cannabis...so...(kinda messed up when you see who worked the patent with the govt and who published a book with that group, and who..., lol)

Ive said many times, that my Dads buddy imported clones of skunk in 1980. It could easily be the thing everyone calls BC roadkill. It certainly was excellent, and very skunky. It wasnt called roadkill by us at the time and wasnt called that yet by the people we got it from. people started calling it that like a decade later in our area, say around 1990, the name started spreading, but I think it was in the states earlier, for one thing we have very few if any skunks in BC (lower mainland anyway, I have no idea about the interior etc.).

The BC RKS cut that cannacopia used was from Chimera.. In fact a lot of the mother cuts came from Chi for cannacopias work.

Nice plant brother bear. I heard there cross has good plants but what I'm curious about is the mother of the cross they call BC Roadkill , same one chimera is using for the RKS X Chem d cross. I'd love to see a good picture or 2 of this elite mother

Ok why would you breed out superior traits? Just doesn't make sense, look at all the og's on the market today, they have been outcrossed etc and most of them still at leas resemble the orig. you can tell they are related in other words. Sk1 was never road kill!

Sam bred sk1 ok, but the road kill I had in the early 80s was totally diff! If someone had that road kill it would be at the top of every cup now days second place wouldn't even come anywhere close! itbwas hands down some of the best cannabis I have ever seen along with the Colombian golds of old, the real deal mtf Maui. And kuai electric.. As I sai before the sk1 isn't the same as roadkill sk, it may have a distant relative but so does all cannabis!

You can say what you like but for a decade it was RKS, everyone that grew it pre 85 said so, I would never try to convince you as you seem to know the truth already, but if you find posts by people that bought Skunk #1 in seed packages pre 85 and ask them you might change your mind.... They all say Skunky.....Mad Jag, Mtn Nektar, a few more that know what really happened. As for me breeding out superior traits, that is your opinion, not mine, I like it better sweeter, now I can smoke the resin, before I did not like it.
-SamS

But you also mentioned that the picture i posted looks nothing like your skunk (post #725), and as my dad said today, the stuff we had, everybody who tried it said it was the best weed they ever tried. So obviously there was other roadkill skunks around that had nothing to do with your skunk breeding project, and at least one of them was phenomenal.

Stumbled across this... I'll just post the description...

"Reeferman's Skunk (Roadkill Skunk X Orig Skunk)
The legend, the one, the only....Skunk.

The Skunk sets the Gold Standard by which are strains are measured against. And why not? The plant grows vigorously indoors, outdoors and even in greenhouse conditions. It resists many common cropping problems like insects and diseases better than most and delivers high yields of chunky, pungent and potent buds that stimulate the brain and soothe the body. The Skunk is the result of a trans-global breeding project, with genes originating from Afghanistan, Columbia and Mexico where all the best characteristics made from each contribution appear to have been retained in the final offspring.

The buzz and effects from the Skunk are very well rounded; not leaving you in the clouds or sunk into your sofa-a very “happy” experience with body relaxation you can feel from the top of your head to the tip of your toes. A very “social” weed, with a long standing following around Amsterdams many coffee shops.

Being a versatile plant, this Skunk selection will do well as a Sea Of Green plant with minimal trimming of lower branches required, while as a larger plant, it can grow into a large, bushy, “bud monster” with enough spacer between nodes to let intense light in to penetrate and reach all parts of the plant for a more consistent quality in the harvest from top to bottom of the plant.

The aroma and flavor are pungent and strong, so odor control is recommended when growing indoors and some stealth or care outside or in the greenhouse to keep your growing endeavours private.

Skunk has good bag appeal: you can smell it from a mile away, and the buds are sticky, light green with large swollen calyxes with little leaf and a moderate amount of bud “hairs”. Combined with being easy to grow under a variety of conditions, high yields and quick to trim with minimal foliage makes this a great choice for the commercial producer as well as the home grower looking for a reliability in both the growing and toking experience.
