Never had the pleasure myself of smoking any rks ....I don't think
I'm inclined to think that its gotta still be held some where after all I believe the internet is only about 10% used by cannabis growers , closer two 6 % I think .
I've seen it claimed some where else recently but that wouldnt be a first.
Plants smell is a defense mechanisms so I'm thinking where ever the rks smells ( terp profile) came from the plant was really in defense mode.

Butanoic Acid OR Butyric Acid has a unpleasant, acrid odor normally found in perspiration, flatulence and rancid butter. It is the primary cause of the foul smell associated

...

these seem like good terpenes to start with.

Yes, those would be good terpenes to start with... except there are tens of thousands of terpenes in the plant world but only 100-200 that exist in cannabis. It is likely that many of those which you listed, or at least some, are not present in cannabis to begin with.

I agree someone has it. Most likely in seed form.

No way it was just a plant in defence mode. The plants when they were 3" tall fucking stunk. Carbon filter needed for the seeds for cripes sake lol. It was a combination of terps, that are def present in cannabis, and at some point through technology we will all know the make up.

It was very popular and wide spread in the 80's and 90's. If you smoked it once or even just smelled a nug, you would never ever forget it. It was that strong, loud, just flat out skunk spray.

To me its gone, I have sought out the last old timer that could have possibly had it in my side of the world. He gave me a clone, it was so weak, I couldn't say if it was even close. So the end of the search for me. Only option now is to pop a shit load of SK#1 seeds, open pollinate, and go to work. Its in there, just deep deep in there.

My friend grew some critical mass recently that had a smidge of that funk in it, just a touch. That's the closest I have seen latley. Lots of dank loud stuff out there but nothing remotely close to the loudness of RKS.

Best vibes!

There are 100-200 that we know of. There are probably more we don't know of.

Sorry these were listed as terpenes found in cannabis. At least that's what I thought this thread was getting at.

That's what she said......:)

oh its in there. id find the skunkiest affie and cross it with the skunkiets skunk you can find and in those seed will be gold. its got to be the right two parent though or youl end up with sensi seeds super skunk. (which did have some rks type phenos in its early days. my fanily had a connect for super skunk clones back in the early nineties and held onto a super chronic super skunky super skunk. def one of the most rks ive had the pleasure of doing business with. im still looking for that special affie to use as a father or reverse it if i find a female i want to use. it would be a huge project and i will need help testing the seeds for the skunkiest phenos to back cross them

Some of the best skunk i have smoked was called ozark skunk from missouri and i live in CALI also we had a cut of super skunk from new mexico about 10 years ago and that was a stinky one same story i had people telling me i was going to jail due to the fact that it smelled like half a block i need that back in my life

blaysor---

this might be the paper you're looking for. but you gotta pay $35 bucks to read it.

Metabolic fingerprinting of Cannabis sativa L., cannabinoids and terpenoids for chemotaxonomic and drug standardization purposes

dr. duke's phytochemical database has this list for cannabis constituents. i haven't added up all the terpenes but it looks extensive. plus it's free!

Sup heady? Check it out, no need for 35.

I'm trying to get more details from Steep Hill that may be of interest, and will post here if I get anywhere.

ooo blaysor thanks! awesomeness.

only got a bag or two of what i'd call RKS, early on in my smoking career, around 2000. to me it's always been that weed that makes you break your neck when you smell someone burning it at a concert. absolutely attention grabbing.

also remember it seeping through multiple baggies, stinking up a room from inside your backpack or pocket. it was getcha busted weed.

What if we should move away from the traditional breeding of skunk. WHAT IF we took all the known genetics that emit putrid odors that are still passed around and bred them together?

Norcal Catpiss
So cal catpiss
Pnw dogshit
Vomit
Garlic bud
Liver cheese
Exo cheese
Nellys cheese

Any others?

Breed these together I bet youd find a skunk.

There was a specific effect of Skunk weed that no other variety had, if someone was trying to sell me something that smelled piney i would refuse and look for the skunky smelling weed. I dont know if that effect can be reproduced?

The terpenes in skunk still exist in other genetics. They just need to be bred properly to isolate those terpenes. People should stop wasting time looking for skunk and start spending that time trying to recreate it.

i've got a breeder's choice moonflower (punto rojo x afghani) that has a deep and penetrating skunk to it. it's not pure skunk smell tho, it's got some ammonia and sour cherry top notes.

recently i had a small jar with me at a social function. i knew it was obnoxiously loud, so i excused myself and went to roll myself a joint in a closed bedroom. then, i tucked the joint behind my ear and started in on the dinner dishes.

while i'm there, for like maybe 10 minutes, several people commented on the smell. it was the first thing out of people's mouths when they walked in the door, like "oh! what the hell is that!"

i found out later that the person whose bedroom i rolled the joint in came back to her room later and was pretty convinced i had sat in there and smoked a whole blunt lol.
