So to go with your earlier theory as well, how would Afghans, Pakistani's or Northern Indians know that it is called skunk when they don't have them? Could it be someone named them that and they got passed around, to people from lots of different continents?

They didnt , its a western description , likely from an american, maybe americans collecting seeds , seems to hold water ???

And if some of them got it and have never had it before they would probably be paranoid as hell because you can smell it from a mile away, lol.

I had it from someone that had been breeding it for around 19 years and that was 16 give or take years ago. He is in Jail. I was young and stupid.

Do you not believe or just never got any yourself?

Seeing a skunk in the zoo is one thing

Smelling a skunk spray in the wild is a whole different story

I've never experienced the RKS of the 70's/80's . But I've smoked several skunky varieties. I believe a RKS could be bred . But not from the Dutch skunk or 98% of today's skunk lines . I think True Ghanis WLD from Middle East are the genetics to search .

There are still unhybridized WLD being grown in the old world evident by several videos on YouTube and our IC brother storm shadow . We don't have an import market like yesteryear military or hippy folk / US travelers who go overseas an bring back stock like we did back in the 60's/70's . But the occasional stock comes threw obs - alien tech / British hempire - purple afghan/ StormShadow -Iranian landrace /Mark castle - Talk of Kabul . Some of our most recent lines acquired from over seas stock that has not be hybridized by Dutch or US genetics

As SamS himself said the effect wasnt what he desired we know he's a sativa head . Soo the knockout RKS of yesteryear folk talk about shouldn't be expected to come out from him . Look for some landrace WLD N make your dreams come true

I have tried every RKS verity I could find.(We never called it RKS. It was juts skunk) None of the seed varieties I tried where like the skunk from 1980 not even close. I'm still putting out requests to locate the 1980 cut. The name came form the overpowering skunk aroma she exuded. Virtually impossible to hide the smell. If someone is claiming to hold the skunk cut from 1980 that is highly unlikely. That specific cut is unfortunately gone. Until I have a Flower in my hand that disproves that my Opinion will stand.

Ha, ha! Not going to happen, as you pointed out. I used to get RKS in 1979-80. Very impressive herb, with unbelievably powerful smell. What I got was grown outdoors in Alabama, of all places. Some pretty hefty penalties in Alabama in those days. Probably haven't changed, now that I think of it.
Could've gotten cuts from the growers, but never even thought of it. Dumb on my part, but didn't know it would disappear. Crystal ball broken...

Dude it wasn't the most pleasurable experience as I was pretty young. But that stench, really sticks with you. Yes I've already said I smelt a skunk, actual skunks spray from there glands. I didn't say it was in a zoo?? There are skunks in zoos though.

I guess a lot of people other then Americans could have hit or passed a dead skunk??? Possibly a few even smoke weed? ??

The two leg-breakers in the family of chemicals that a skunk sprays are (E )-2-butene-1-thiol and 3-methyl-1-butanethiol. These are chains of carbon and hydrogen with the sulfur and hydrogen thiol group attached to one end. They're volatile, which means they disperse easily in the air, and they're easily picked up by the human nose. The back-up squad of skunk spray consists of thioacetates, other groupings of carbon and hydrogen that are, at first, not particularly smelly. When water hits them, it rearranges them into more potent configurations. A dog - or human - that's been sprayed by a skunk will sometimes get smellier after being bathed in water. These compounds also linger, so when an area of a house that's been sprayed by a skunk gets rained on, we get a delayed reminder never to make a skunk mad.

Skunk spray is composed mainly of three low-molecular-weight thiol compounds, (E)-2-butene-1-thiol, 3-methyl-1-butanethiol, and 2-quinolinemethanethiol, as well as acetate thioesters of these.[12][13][14][15][16] These compounds are detectable by the human nose at concentrations of only 10 parts per billion
