If anybody still had the old skunk they would be a millionaire otherwise it is just a lot of old stories worth remembering. It's gone. ...L0st....

It's not that it's affie or sativa it's the combination of the two. When you realize this you might move forward .
well whats moving forward? define moving forward and ill try and do that..
in the time being ill just have to settle with crossing 3, 70's-80's heirloom afghani IBL's, to my pre 85 skunk cutting..

the first heirloom affie would be 1979' christmas bud..
picture.php

smells like Burnt DMT, Pine and Gasoline growing
dries out to be more pine/gasoline/mothballs

and others that i haven't grown out yet, one of which is proven the other i have little to no info on, just that its from Herat, Afghanistan, and is old.

skunk hybrids I've made so far

Looking lovely! I'm excited to see people working with skunk again. In the mid/early 2000's I couldn't find anything remotely skunky other than the OG/Chem/Bubba and even that was hard to find. Everyone wanted to grow fruity and purple strains.

Keep on keepin' on!

affys look good to me but skunk was very unstable back then. I personally would look for old Columbian strains cross both to the skunk and breed these 2 lines together. The old skunks of yesterday wasn't indica dominant or Afghanistan dominant. Sensi removed rks by adding afghan so if you want it back you would probably want to remove it a little or breed away from it.

Okay I read this entire thread... :woohoo:

Just wow...

I happened to have smoked RKS just once back in '87 right at the beginning of my entrance into the world of cannabis.

Buddy and I went to see another friend we had to get stoned. He takes us out to the wood shed as his dad banned it from the house.

Shed smelt like a skunk den.

We all go in, sit around the chopping block where the bong set, while our host pulls out a .50cal ammo can, we exchange looks as we can smell skunk emanating from the can.

He loads the bowl with a big fat bud and passes it to my buddy who takes a lunger, feeling foolish I do the same, and while we are coughing our lungs out our host pulls out three short mini hits to skip our dilemmas...

Roll out side after thanking our host we realize we are way to stoned to drive...

You drive its' your car (datsan b210 puke green)

Him, nope your the one said we should get stoned you drive...

We had three miles or so to travel down riverside and through main street at night with no running lights and no dash lights to see how fast (or slow) we were going...

Paranoid as all hell, smelling like we were just sprayed...

Finally get home to his parents place and they smell us coming, neither of them doubting our story about the skunk we just hit, we were even given the tomato juice bath...

I got real high that night, very memorable indeed, cotton mouth, laughing uncontrollably, extremely paranoid though and not just cuz of the smell. That was the only time I smoked RKS.

I'm with Sam S on this I like the high, the taste and the potency of the sweet SK1, and don't feel the need to relive a fond memory from my young and dumb days.

:dance013:

Sam has told us all what is the make up of RKS, and he has pointed out what it takes to breed it true, time, experience and growing out lots of plants year after year selecting only the finest with the traits you desire...

(mazar x columbian) x (columbian x mazar)

Landrace strains aren't all the same today as they once were. It wouldn't be a case of going out getting a mazar lr and a Colombian and making rks. You would need to find the same phenos because of the 1-1 mating required to produce the same gentic make up of the rks as I understand. I have some mazar seeds and Columbian and if I cross them I will bet I don't find rks if I grow a few 100 out. Gentic pass over from parent isn't that simple look at ak47 bubblegum ect ect even the original breeders stugle to recreate them after loosing mothers and father plants.

Funny you say that. To me, aquarium cement (clear silicone sealer) smells exactly like skunk spray. In fact, when city folk ask me what a skunk smells like, I tell them to sniff some aquarium sealer.

I find dead foxs smell like skunk. They used to get used a lot on snaring sites to attract live fox's and boy what a smell. I have seen people go out on walk thinking they have found a gg pacth only to find a pipe with a dead fox underneath.

Am I the only whacko that rolls down the window and takes a big whiff when they drive by a dead skunk in the road? :biglaugh:

how something so nasty can smell so wonderful is beyond me.

Nope, my crazy uncle Mike does it all the time. Last week we were driving down the road to go fishing, no where near our regular spot, and he started to slow down all the sudden. I was wondering why. His eyes were scanning, window edging down. I asked what are you doing, he said "looking for something from my youth. smell that ?" I asked if they bottled that smell would you wear it ? He said " yes, with a side of patchouli, drives hippy chicks wild. "

Two yrs ago I picked up a pack of "BC roadkill" from cannacopia.i had one plant that smelled like stink skunk-ass. I clones it and bred it back to a male of the same strain. This year I am growing out some of those seeds to try and find more of the skunky butthole. I'd like to try and keep breeding it to make it dominate.
