I apologize for not reading the entire thread but would like to know if the skunk bud that was all over Santa Cruz in the early 80s is any relation to RKS or Sam's SK#1. Perhaps Sam can only answer this.
From what I remember the strongest skunk became harder and harder to find and everything was sweet skunk by the 90s. Too many people getting busted growing it. A drive to Santa Cruz in 82 was one dead skunk after another.
The skunk I smoked in 82 would blow your face off and turn your eyes blistering red. I remember being in line at Safeway and random people making comments about the smell. Very paranoid inducing and hallucinogenic...I was also pretty young but I never forgot it and it never returned. Would love to see it again but as with many of those strains they are either gone, a figment of my imagination, or in Sam's refrigerator.

Sam has stated repeatedly that he will never bring it back as he did not like it and has other projects to occupy his time. Go get about five packs of Mr. Nice Afghan x Skunk, do an open pollination and begin your search. Close as you will get. Roll a doobie and read this thread from the beginning, if you like the strain so much there is a ton of info in this very thread that will assist in your quest.

Best,
Lester

no doubt ouro

truth is in canada we had 3 phenos of the roadkill

- rasberry buds (kush pheno) - sedative
- big buds (50/50 pheno) - best weed i have ever had
- massive donkey dicks (sativa pheno) - best smell ever, worst effect ever

the top 2 rocked. and were more white then green

the last one was dark green and leafy

None of this remotely sounds like RKS. Guessing Canadians call something else rks? Rks stands for Roadkill Skunk fyi. Raspberry?? Lmfao!! RKS, last i saw it was late 80's, was fucking rank skunk spray smell. Nothing else, just a skunk that sprayed you in the face. There is no debate about that, if you had RKS you knew it as did your entire zipcode. End of story.

I have a cut of skunk 1 from 86', beans were from before that.. Just was planted then and kept alive all this time.. Im unsure of origins but.. It came from a deadhead and it isn't the MSS..

Im currently working 3 heirloom affie lines and will be crossing all of them to my 30 year old skunk.
However, and I fully believe this is possible.. Ik folks whoM opinion I trust, me personaly last I saw it was 06
But anyways that what a lot of people consider roadkill was actually affie's..

Im personally most excited about 79' XMAS Bud x 86' skunk 1

id love to chat with you if you ever get the time, finally got my post count up. hope to hear from you

Get your post your past 50 and I will PM you. As you are new here you have not taken the time to read my posts on all the reasons why I do not like or care about RKS, also there are few honest figures in the Cannabis seed industry, many are in it for the money and really do not care about RKS except for that. Why should I help them make more money? PM me, and maybe read the posts why I feel this way? If $ was my focus I would have done it. May be you can make a list of the honest people that will preserve it and spread it around for free and would not just screw it up, they will need breeding skills. Unless they have smoked and grown an awful lot of my skunky RKS Skunk #1 they will not be upto it.
As for me being selfish, no I don't think so, maybe you do, so be it. It is not my job to do what others want me to do, I do what I like. I have it, and have little interest, but maybe RCC wants to do it for all of you? He like skunky skunk #1, and has access to my seeds if I die. It will not be "lost" unless like before, when just no one who had it cared enough to save a clone or seeds except for me who's fault is that?

Rasberry would have been what people called red devil or red skunk in Australia. If it were about looks. Red hairs all over green, yellowy chunks? Someone said the Red Skunk was actually Red Devill from Greenhouse, Devil by Shanti? That strain didn't taste like proper Roadkill. It was stinky but I think that myself it was a roadkill northern lights cross. It seems to have more Eucalyptol, or this may have been more available where I am.

I don't think RKS smell is from Afghan strains used. If this was the case it would be found more in the modern super skunks than it is in original skunk#1. I think it as more to do with a balanced genetic crossover from using true ibl landrace parent stock to create the skunk in the first place. Let's face fact's the more you cross the old skunks to modern strains the fruity modern skunks come out and true untainted landrace strains just are not available anymore because the farmers that grow them grow modern strains with them. If you want a RKS you need old skunk #1 seeds or the ability to time travel. Best thing to do IMA would be use old clone only strains like gooey to match parents as best as possible rather than using modern tanted landraces.

Skunk 1 has no road kill skunk in it period! The real road kill was a pure or close to pure indica compact and fat leaves that stunk of putrid skunk from the first set of true leaves! The old heads from the west coast of the USA will tell you the same thing not a bi of sweet in it only raw stinky skunk. 1/4 of a hit blew your lungs to shit and you really didn't need another hit extremely potent and buds so tight you couldn't squeeze them tighter golf ball buds lime green, beautiful shit.

Ok why would you breed out superior traits? Just doesn't make sense, look at all the og's on the market today, they have been outcrossed etc and most of them still at leas resemble the orig. you can tell they are related in other words. Sk1 was never road kill!

You can say what you like but for a decade it was RKS, everyone that grew it pre 85 said so, I would never try to convince you as you seem to know the truth already, but if you find posts by people that bought Skunk #1 in seed packages pre 85 and ask them you might change your mind.... They all say Skunky.....Mad Jag, Mtn Nektar, a few more that know what really happened. As for me breeding out superior traits, that is your opinion, not mine, I like it better sweeter, now I can smoke the resin, before I did not like it.

not the road kill skunk I had and not from the descriptions of others that have had it. Roadkill skunk were mostly low yielding sativa phenos and that's why most seed banks breed away from the roadkill phenos. Most I ever yielded from a indoor roadkill pheno was 4 oz were you could get 8oz from a big yielding normal skunk pheno. Most people I know found this to be the case with the old roadkill skunks.
