What are you talking about? I have it on good authority from my news stations that the super dangerous weed found today is many many times more potent than anything the world has ever produced.

That´s b.s. and you know it

the red (lowland not to be confused with the high altitude "Punto Rojo") Colombian is to me is a VERY heavy, down, narcotic high. It is strong and will put you to sleep faster than an Indica and maybe thats why people speak so highly of it in contrast to the lighter more "up" Sativa from the region.

That stuff flooded the market here in NE usa back in the mid-70's. People LOVED it, ("cause it fucks you upp"), but I HATED it. I had just been turned on to the joys of "high-altitude" Mex, and it got increasingly hard to track down. Hell, I don't think I ever smoked any good columbian, it was all this tranquilizer weed.
Good info here, a nice addendum to the ultimate sativa thread.

Hey Tomatoesonly :moon:

actually that probably is close to being true since people have been breeding for potency for more than a decade. although i'm sure there are still older varieties just as strong.

It's not a matter of potency, it's the quality of the high. The dutch hybrids can be whopping powerful, but it's to a large degree, it's the same tired genetics. The idea that out there lies genetics undiscovered by the world-at- large, is what fuels this thread. We can dream! :D

hola redrider! how are you my friend? :D man, i also seem to have the need to correct all the gringos spelling colombia wiith an 'u'. there is a world beyond the u.s boarders, so colombia with an 'o' is possible and probable, believe us :biglaugh:

lowland colombians are defintely not the best, specially when grown commercially, because it is sun-dried, pressed and shipped. then people who deal this brick seeded weed then do stupid shit with it, like bury it (so cops won't find it in their house). say, someone decides to sell this brick weed and buys a brick of 1kg, and sells that like in 20 pieces (never weighted down here, eye percent !) but the guy who sells you this stashes the 1kg brick buried somewhere... usually wet lol

redrider as well as anyone who has grown plants out of these commercial lowland brickweed, knows how different the smell is once you grow it and cure properly, the high isn't bad either once you have grown, dried and cured it well.

remember that the process we call 'drying and curing' is actually a slight fermentation process where many of the substances of our beloved plant gets new characteristic n how it looks and smells and smokes as well as in its effects. so a shitty drying and curing of most plants will make for a fermentation that becomes very narcotic, downer, heavy in the head type of effect.

peace!

Hi
This is my favourite sativa....its a cross of some very fine landraces (breeders bahiaseeds / la mano negra??) :chin:

(Paraguay/corinto/mexico) X (ethiopia/malawi)

The buds get an incredible golden colour when cured, and the weed is spicy, earthy, with some pepper :chin: .......the high is strong, very strong and soaring

Saludos

well gettin on americans for that is like getting on you for typing ja ja ja, or je je je. its ha ha ha and he he he, not with J's.

but its just when your typin fast you mispell things. all the columbias in america are with a U, except for the country of colombia, so its easy to mess up when your typin fast. I'm sure you know they are H's just like we know its O's.

I'm guilty of misspelling colombia sometimes. I think I go back and forth don't hold it against me, paz I'm dyslexic, lol. But don't take it as an insult or a sign of conceit. Its more a sign of our poor public education system. Many people on this forum that misspell colombia don't consider the u.s superior to anywhere else. Its the kind of thing where we see it misspelled in the u.s and just repeat it. I promise I'll try harder in the future, cool?

motaco, zamalito, hello, about the whole colombia vs. columbia thing, i don't hold it against anyone really :D and as motaco points out, probably because the u.s has so many things named columbia with an 'u', they tend to also spell colombia with a 'u', is this being self-absorbed? i don't know, perhaps only a coincidence. btw, don't hold it against me that i like to point these things out either please :D

hola redrider, i have respect and appreciation for you as well man :) regardless of where we come from.

maxdrumm, what a cross! how's the come down from that high?

one love.

when i first started learning about growing, i was always confused when i saw references to 'columbia' and strains etc... i sincerly thought that it was columbia in the u.s and that it was some kind of cannabis cool place like northern california or some places in canada lol :D then i started seeing stuff like 'columbian punto rojo' and then i knew they were actually refering to colombia in south america and not some other place :biglaugh:

peace!

I guess this is a good place to make a special announcement. Me and Luiz have decided that we'd like to become partners. So I've just entered into negotiations with luiz to be become a coowner and equal partner in brasilian seed co. There's a number of reasons I'm doing this eventhough I am certain it will not be a big money maker. I didn't have a clue that I may end up being partners with Luiz until two days ago. The reason I pushed and advertised bsc so much in the past wasn't because I thought I'd be a future co-owner but because I have much respect for what Luiz is doing and have always considered him a wonderful human being. I have always felt that returning and maintaining lines in a tropical environment is of the utmost importance.

Firstly I believe its a complete failure of the seed industry that classic varieties like santa marta gold, punta roja, highland oaxaca gold, colombian black, acapulco gold, maui waui and kona gold aren't available commercially. I will do my best to make sure that these staples remain available as long as I'm around along with some more exotic varieties manga rosa and a host of brazilian and paraguaian genetics. I will also do my best to offer multiple inbred lines of the same landrace but selected for different traits like ability to be grown indoors, high yield, quality of effects etc.

This will provide me with a means to provide me an income however modest during facilitating a move to south america. Call me paranoid but I believe south americans are the most well equipped to handle the coming social economic and political changes facing the world.

Another goal I will have will be to create hybrids and improved inbred landrace that allow the small closet grower and medical user to enjoy the effects of landrace cannabis.

We will have an improved website with frequent updates and maybe eventually a forum devoted to the preservationist. We are also working on accepting paypal and money orders as payment and will work toward making our seeds available through gypsy and doc chronic among others.

Bsc was failing before luiz had any health problems because it's hard it is to make an adequate living as a seed merchant. Say a pack is sold at seedboutique for $40. The wholesale price would be about $26. Then that will be split in half between me and luiz. If we try really hard and sell 1000 packs of seeds a year that's 13,000 a year for each of us minus production costs much of which will have to be reinvested to building a better breeding facility. In the us I can make that easily by growing 3 or 4 plants a year though the cost of living is also higher.

I'm going to try very hard to not make the same mistakes as afropips and if there's any behaviors among seed merchants that you're disgusted with, suggestions, would like to see anything in our catalog or would just like to talk I'm always available.

We plan to start working on a catalog of 9 pure strains and 9 hybrids. The first strains will be available next August. I know it seems like a long way away but making good seeds takes time and we plan to do this right.

Wow best of luck to you I truly hope BSC grows and fluorishes like the herb in the tropics. Brazil has an immense wealth of genetics. The best herb hands down I ever smoked was that spicy, earthy , sativa bud like Maxdrumm described. Nothing Indica even comes near the taste and high. It was bud I got in 1991 or 1992 called "hibrido" that simple, some hybrid that was developed locally and it was outdoors and seeded, yet very potent and not too many seeds. It came from the state of Bahia, and the neighboring states of Pernambuco and Maranhao have some untapped exotic landraces. I believe most came with slaves from Africa, and due to the immense colony of Calungas (refugee slaves) and relatives of slaves in the Northeast of Brazil, that's where they were all planted.

The reason many of these genes don't get down to big cities like Rio or Sao Paulo is because there are tons of roadblocks, and a few years back big busts were made on large commercial crops in the area. The route is well known, and nowadays cash crops are rushed to finish or are imported in brick form from Paraguay where things are more "Wild West" lets say...

It takes a person to go to the bud and travel to find it, and that takes a sense of adventure and love of Cannabis. I definitely dream of doing that type of exploring one day. I would need to take off a few moths first tho and get some breeding experience under my belt..

This is some good news for all us landrace lovers out here on ic mag another landrace seedbank. Zamalito and all of his experience with landraces will be a great thing for the cannabis community for years to come. Personally zamalito, I would pay 100 bucks fer a 10 pack of your seeds. With your knowledge and love of the plant it's almost guranteed top notch quality. Can't wait to see what strains you plan on producing.
About six months ago, I aquired some really good commercial cannabis that had been shipped here. It was by far the most amazing commercial bud that, I have sampled. The calxes on the plant were as large as jlp's sour diesel if not larger. It was almost pure calx with sparse leaf and a small amount of chunky brown seeds slightly striped. If you got any ideas to what it could be i'd appreciate it.....I'm sure it's difficult without a picture. I'm guessing it would be some type of mexi since that where most the commercial comes from here in fla.

Great news, zamalito! Not like I need any new seed stock, but I will definately support your work.
Your online personna is one of quiet knowledge and a deep love of the plant.
No one will ever mistake you for the unguided brashness of afropips!
Best wishes on this new endeavor, it will be quite exciting to see it come together!

Sorry about the misspell, guys, "I WAS STONED!"

I vow someday to smoke some kickass Colombian!

:D :biglaugh: :D :biglaugh: :D :biglaugh: :D :biglaugh: :D :biglaugh: :D
