Real estate seems like the great option so far, that may change though, but for a few years you could make a killing over night.

My son and his wife have done very well with real estate in Calgary. They are continuing to build on it. I don't think they are focused on quick money more along the lines of multipole rental units. I think him and his wife called it there retirement plan.
Whatever they are doing, it's working well and they are prospering.

Yep it's that time again supposed to be 51° here Sunday.
Weds it starts to rain, then the temp is to drop and see our first snow "event" is what they call it round these parts.
Haven't heard how much but ice fishing don't sound to be too far away.

Yep, that time of year when the ice fishers get antsy, there is a good ice fishing lake a 10 min drive from here.
It's a busy spot during winter. The lake is kept well stocked and there are several trout that come in the lbs maybe 3-5 lbs. if you know what your doing. The only fish I like out of it are the Kokanee.

They are worth more than 10X what we paid for them, continue to increase in value, plus provide an attractive income stream after maintenance, expense, and taxes.

Are you looking for capital preservation or wealth buildng? I, we, are old. I am looking to keep what I have and keep up with inflation to the best extent possible. Buying dividiend stocks, with the risk to the downside of the stock itself, is not a wise gamle at an elderly age. The biggest market in the worlkd is in bonds. Safe money is better then no money! Sleep well at night. I have real estate & US dollars invested. If you can pay your bills don't fret about anything else. Life's short.

I am looking at beating inflation and monthly distribution. You have a good plan. Safe, slow and steady. Different strokes for different folks.

I hear that from many people but I know my son and wife think otherwise. They have several rental units. The one time they had a "working lady" doing business out of one of their condos. People complained and he had to ditch her. When I was talking to him yesterday, he said they were looking to buy either a 6plex or a mobile home park to add to their collection of real estate. He told me they just finished putting a rental unit in the basement of their principal residence. They are going all out on rentals. They have other investments as well.
He was thinking the 6plex might work well as he has working knowledge of the mechanics of such a place and could do most repairs himself.
He said on one their places the renters almost begged for a 5 year lease.

I think Tyson will tire because father time is nasty. Tyson's best move it to drop down and go to the body and follow with and uppercut. If he can pull that off in round 1 or 2 it's lights out.

Paul has never fought a real contender even though Tyson is 58 he still massacred almost all of his opponentsuntil he lost interest and they say the power is the last to go so if he gets some shots in Paul will fall. We will see if Tyson still has the stamina but it's hard for me to see a world champion boxer who beat people like Tubbs,Bruno,Spinks,Berbick,Tucker lose to a guy who isn't a contender. Tyson beat some of the best. I'm hoping he will anyway
