The government should set up a 'Walter White University' - for aspiring meth cooks and purveyors of narcotic drugs - so that no one can be a dealer without doing a course - on the particular drug/s they wish to distribute - should lead to less people dieing -

British Columbia's gone to pharmaceutically sourced drugs in many cases with their experiment in decrim/legalization of all recreational drugs 'in small amounts'.

As my family member who runs a clinic once noted, and I tend to agree (based on my and others years of excesses), if people stay alive long enough, a good number will take a step back and reevaluate their vices and make some changes accordingly.

Most of us did.

Of course, there's always the exceptions to the rule, too.

IMO anybody who takes black market pills today is playing Russian Roulette. I took a lot of hard drugs back in the 60's. One of my favorites was White Cross. Good Speed. Put you in the best mood both at work and play.

All of a sudden they started cutting it with some crap that just made you jittery. No more erotic feeling. Just jumpy nervousness. Same thing happened to all black market drugs.

The worst was coke. My friend and still is bragged about how he cut it with baby laxative. That pissed me off to no end. No wonder every time I did a line I felt like i had to go to the bathroom.

Actually that was the best thing that could have happened to me. I cold turkey coke and never have done it since.
Menite and baby laxative, vitamin B, pseudocaine, etc. were the relatievly harmless cuts back in the day.

These days fentanyl is finding its way into nearly everything, some place.

Even coke, which is a stimulant, opposite in effect of fentanyl, is being found cut with fentanyl..

Fake pressed Xanax tablets are being made from that new designer benzodiazepine I posted the NIH link to.

Fake benzo's are being cut with Fentanyl, and unless one pays attention to the hardness if cutting up the tablet, etc., may not have a clue that the tablet is from a home press, and has nothing to do with the Rx drug it's being made to look like.

Russian roulette, indeed.

Glad I just do flowers and marijuana by products that I grow and process myself. I have had PM twice overt the years and it went into the trash. If I won't smoke it.....neither will my friends.
Like I said, most of us slow down and reevaluate after a time.

Hash, cannabis, rare Rx amphetamines if I'm driving long distance and no longer have the energy to do 800 or 900 miles in a day, and the intermittent beer or cocktail (without achieving intoxication), along with good French roast coffee and medicinal green tea are pretty much the extent of my recreational or functional 'life menu'.

Last line of coke I did was over 20 years ago, and was about 45% coca paste, give or take; no longer the philosophical euphoria of 1982

Nothing recreational about heightened anxiety and heart palpitations.

edit": Very occasional LSD and mushrooms, though an experience in a tree stand, moose hunting in the bush, 3 days in a row, after a lifetime of no bad trips up until that point, with those three days in a row involving deep introspection that was positive but emotionally painful, left me doing 'shrooms very rarely.

Manite or Manitol - an Italian baby laxative - was the go-to cut for yayo back in the early 80's - as I recall - they had a great big display of it in the Jimi Hendrix head shop - out near the Castro district in San Francisco - back around 1980 -

Coke after a while was easy, rigatoni is another story.

I guess on the brighter side (and there always is one if we look hard enough) we don't often read about a magnesium overdose. :)
I did Magnesium Taurate for a while - but have changed up to Magnesium Bisglycinate lately - due to its better absorption rate - never heard of a Magnesium overdose - but then you can just about overdose on anything - even water 💧 - you drown -

I now do 250 mg of Magnesium Citrate each day with my fist full of pills and supplements.

Medscape recently published an article re. treatment/prevention/etc. of cancer with supplements.

A lot of the folk remedies are either bunk or don't work as pervasively as reported by some, but there are some that have been shown in lab studies, both in test tubes and in living specimens, to have some positive effect.

But whereas I drank chaga tea like it was going out of style, even that, in excess, can help to develop kidney stones. My view at the time was that I can blast kidney stones with a laser, if need be (in some cases), I can't very well blast a tumor into non-existence. So, as with most things medical these days, it's a question of what gets traded away in exchange for which hopeful outcome.

And I always thought that fentanyl was a sorta self euthanasia - if self administered - and I wonder why they don't give it to those on death row ? - seems a bit more humane than bumping someone off with nitrogen gas - which is the top story in the most popular UK newspaper today -

Inert gases are supposed to be a fairly easy, non-panicked way to go, but I'd never heard about nitrogen as a primary gas until I heard this news story on the radio the other day.

The more common gases I was aware of were helium and CO2.

Fools the lungs and brain for most of the duration into believing they're receiving oxygen... until they're not. Possibly a bit of panic at the very end.
