Fortunately at least so far M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Distruction) has kept anyone from going with a long range nuclear missle attack since the US dropped the bomb on Japan. that's because everyone knows that if they nuke the US then the US will return the favor and the result will be bad for the whole world. Even if they got the missles past our defense system, there are still the subs on constant patrol that will surface and send the return strike. There are two scenarios that still worry me though, one is if it is Russia and the attack happens at a time when it looks like Russia is going to be defeated no matter what they do. In that case I could see Putin lainching a strike because he doesn't care how badly it will end for Russia. The other scenario is if it comes from N. Korea. Kim Jung Un is so desperate to be seen as a relevent threat that I can imagine him launching a nuclear strike just because he can. The only way a nuclear strike doesn't doom the whole world is if the learders of the country being attacked first decides that for the sake of the world they won't counter attack and I just don't see any country with nuclear weapons making that call.

It's a sad situation. Too early for an end of life rant.

EMP is a very real threat. Either man made or from solar expulsions.
We are light duty preppers. But if something like that happened it’s going to be pure hell.
I’d guess an easy 1/3 the population would be dead within 4 months. We could very well be looking at the end of an era.
Strange times. I never figured I’d see our country this way. Where it’s so divided, both sides are afraid of the other winning because it could mean the end of our country. Hate for the other side is rampant. Families are splitting. Friendships broken.
All because of political affiliation or moral differences.

In my younger days I thought politics was a positive force in our lives now I see it as quite the opposite. Dividing us intentionally to gain votes and support. When I think of the extreme wealthy calling the shots and the politicians dance to their tune not the public.
To me, most people seek the same thing in life with some differences. We want homes, family and opportunities etc.
That could all end in the blink of an eye. At one time it didn't put the whole world in chaos when there was wars and differences, today, that does not hold true.
I wouldn't want to live in a world where one group of people get to decide what is good for everyone.

Morning gang. Busy day. Working on my truck, going to sell it. Haven’t drove it since last winter so I may as well sell it. Must not need it since I don’t drive it. I can pay off most of my credit card debt when I sell it. Then I got to put a water pump on my civic. Wanted to make another batch of boiled peanuts but I don’t think I’ll have time. Takes a full day to pressure can them all. Three pressure canners running. Made 56 pints this spring and they are all gone but two.

Asking as a northern fellow...boiled peanuts?

Hmmm - haven't ever seen any on a menu anywhere in Thailand - I know that they eat monkey meat in Africa - where it's called 'Bush Meat' -

The community where I live now and my first family doctor was from South Africa, he almost kind of whispered the words "bush meat". It almost made think there was something morally wrong with it.
