The Official Hempy Bucket Thread

Although I use a PH of 5.8 generally speaking, I am not anal about it and PH drift is a good thing. I allow a range of PH readings from 5.5-6.0. That way you hit the optimum absorption rates for various elements at different times. But, yeah, 6.2 is too high, IMO, but it's also possible Hempy did his measurement with a PH pen that wasn't calibrated/off a bit, and his plants obviously responded well, so he didn't change it.
Hempy knows his shit, no doubt about it, however he speaks/writes in an odd manner, so he can easily be misunderstood.
I also water to a high amount of run off, replacing the rez on each watering. I use the big clay colored saucers from HD, and they hold quite a bit. I don't mind vacuuming up the overflow with a shop vac after each feeding. It's simple and takes only a couple of minutes, and the freshly oxygenated rez makes a huge difference in my experience. So I don't stop when I see the first drops come from the drain hole. I let her rip until I have a good amount of runoff.

Thank you for your replies and advice. I'm willing to learn and grow, and I love the plant. The Hempy bucket gives me better yields and control, without the hassle of pumps and timers. I'm fairly new to hydro. I've been reading the Perfect Cure Every Time thread, to try and maximize taste and flavor. I just didn't want harvest flushing to be my weak link.

Music , like retro said .... water till ya get a good amount of runoff during your leaching period of at least 2 weeks & you'll have a nice clean product at harvest .

& the buckethead shop vacs from homedepot are a gardens best friend :)

I water/feed like that all the way through the grow in Hempys, not just in the last two weeks. Plenty of runoff for more oxygen and a fresh rez.
Now flushing, that is a different story. I flush the last 10-14 days. Water only. RO if possible.

you still hand feeding retro ?
i like the autofed . i can take a few days off if i want & don't have to worry to much lol ...... but every bucket uses different amounts , so i feed till the last bucket gets runoff & thats where i'll set the timer . i'll have to add a few seconds to the timer every couple weeks to ensure i get runoff every day . 18 gallon rez, 4 3 gallon pots per light, 4 days on a full rez ....so each plant gets about a gallon a day, but the only time i'll give them a real good amount of runoff is during the leaching . & then they'll get 1 1 /2 gallons a day or more . never had a dry pot doing it that way .
apples & oranges i guess . we all do things a little different , thats what makes us unique :)

Still like to hand feed....keeps me in touch with my girls and I like what they give back in turn for the daily affection. They love to get drenched every day. But if my numbers were up, I would definitely use drippers. It would be hard to hand water 99 plant California limit.

Those nutes are fine for coco. Just add Rhizotonic in the beginning to stimulate root growth. I add silica too, and triacontanol as a growth hormone.

Hi man. If you're growing in just 2 litres then you're better off with regular plant pots. Hempy buckets are most effective when using 1 - 5 gallons (considering that 1gallon = 4.5liters aprox).

There are pics of hempy "buckets" in coke bottles. If you avoid all the cats lol and look closely at them stem bases, you will notice that there is some mouldy stem rot at the base of the plants.

Look in my gallery and you will see big plants grown in roughly 3l reg pots. They will piss on any 2 or 3litre "hempies" but saying that, it's your call.
