Sumo,

What size pots are you using in your latest grow...2 gallons?

Also, how is your vortex hanging? Is it attached to the side wall, hung on cables? I've looked through alot of your pics but can't seem to find detail as to how it's attached. I'm trying to reduce as much noise and vibration as possible but not sure how best to achieve this.

Flowering pots are 10" and the veg pots are 8".
Vortex fans are great. My 4" vortex is hanging from hooks by a rubber tire strap. Bungie chords or tire straps eliminate what little vibration you get with fan. The vibration could be transferred through the duct so I have the same foam weather stripping I use on doors wrapped around duct where it goes through hole in back of cab so that is insulated from vibration too.

I have been looking for 600 watt cab grows, been looking forever but cant seem to find em with the search feature. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

600 watts is alot for a cabinet - most people stick with 400 max in a wardrobe style cabinet like the c-13 or c-25.

I have seen some people run a 600 in a c-22 with a light rail.

can photo louvers vent both ways?? everyone has them mounted with the face plate facing into the box. i was thinking i was going to build a little box with 2 cpu fans around the louvers sucking air in and i want the front of the louver mounted outside the box.

Louvers vent both ways CJK.

Deft:

A couple weekends ago my Depot had a literal STACK of C13s laying at the end of the isle in boxes on clearance. 59.99

They don't stock them anymore, and the ones they have now look crappiful, IMO.

You either get lucky on an old clearance item or invest in a set of tools...

Checking in once again to the Mills Pride Club...back again with my second grow in a C-13 (probably 50th grow overall).

Just check out my signature for the whole shebang (400w HPS Mills Pride C-13 Bagseed Grow # 2).

Few pics from said thread/grow....

Hey guys I noticed you are all using some pretty beefy exhaust fans.

Wondering how noisy they are, and if there are some quieter alternatives?

What would be the max wattage HPS you could run without a huge blower, if they are really loud?

I can't have too much noise coming from my cab, trying to figure out my ventilation so I can purchase a light and blower...

Cab will be located in basement, surrounding temps are around 70ish.

Thanks.

cobain - I'm using the 4" vortex, 172cfm I think. I've got the cabinet that replaced the smallest Mills Pride version (I think.) I got a speed controller with it, and I've got it on the lowest setting. You can hear it in the room, but if you turn on another fan (Box fan, oscillating fan) on a medium setting it drowns it out. If I have company, I just set up another fan near the cabinet, and it's worked quite well multiple times.

My cabinet is almost complete, I just need to buy a couple things for a cool tube and some ducting, and it'll be all set. I'm very pleased with how clean it looks so far. As soon as I find the cable for my camera, I'll get some updated shots, but here's what it looked like a couple weeks ago.

Oh yeah, and the weatherstripping works very well with the negative pressure to seal the front of the cabinet, making it lightproof and leakproof. There is a problem though, The weatherstripping on the side of the cabinet (opposite the hinges of the door) has been pushed out by the door being pulled on it 24/7. It's slid off to the outside of the cabinet, so I'm going to have to figure something out about that.

Hello Mill's Pride crew. The centrifugal fans are the most energy efficient, quietest and there fore most expensive fans. Well worth it if you have the $$. A carbon filter on exhaust really quiets it down even more. bounty29 nice cab. Those hinges adjust so they wont rip weatherstripping off. I have the same weatherstripping on cab for over a year and it still seals completely. You have to loosen screws that holds part of hinge on and pull it out a notch away from cab then tighten. Essentially you are adjusting the door so that without the weatherstripping ,there would be a gap with door closed.
Also first you square cab by leveling it and shimming underneath till it is level and square. This is because all adjustments can be thrown out of whack if the cab rocks or is not square.

What's that silence? It is the contented silence of thousands of Mill's Pride growers getting on with their lives as their expertly built cabs quietly hum their buds seamlessly to maturity.
I am dealing with temps in the high 80's f. But I always am this time of year. I have vegged a month but the plants are not 12" yet so I will veg longer.

its been hot all summer here and i too am running soil for this grow as hydro without a chiller would be unbearable to have to maintain....right now im vegging under 138w of cfl and my temps dont go over 82 now that i started running the light cycle at night, we will have to see how the 150w hps fares being run this way.

Nice harvest, icough!

I'm gonna try two 150 watters in the 4ftx1.8ft mills pride (I think C-22). I'm getting a vortex 6" to cool it all and scrub. Is it reasonable to expect there to be no smell, assuming I build the scrubber well and don't cut any corners or anything? I had a friend tell me I was off my gourd thinking I could make the smell even unnoticable to anyone that came into the house. He's grown before, that's what he says at least, and I don't really have a reason to not believe him about that. This same dude, however, also said it would be a bad idea to grow in a cab at all and that I should just leave it in the closet, so I'm not sure if I should trust his opinion.

You can definately control smell with a scrubber. I grew both with no and then a crappy and now a good home made scrubber. Now smell isn't an issue at all. If I open the cab during a dark period and when the fan is off then of course a big plume of stink comes out and then the wife comes down right afterwards and says your plants smell can you do something about that? Yes dear. Yes, you can completely control smell.
