Damn bostrom, what are you? Gatorade boy for the Dallas Cowboys? Or does riding Superbikes make you sweat? Anyway be careful with see through growing containers as things that are buried in the ground ie. moles, dead people, and roots, don't like light. I was upset when I put one of my very stylish white growing pots up to the light and saw light filtering through. My only solace is that by the time my roots hit the edge of pot I have enough canopy to put pots in complete shade. So many things to consider and so few brain cells devoted to the task.

OK. I think that I might go with a 4" inline blower, I just read that the ducting will restric airflow such that a 6" would be overkill. I will assume that my current hood is fine and will modify as need to adjust temps/ distance from tops.
I am going to be growing at least three different plants (a friend's Sour Diesel and my Kalichakra & Satori). I am thinking of doing a SOG, what would ya'all recommend? Should I just grow trees and LST 'em?
I will be doing a soil grow for now.

PS; This thread (and others) have been invaluable. You guys are the best.

PPS: If I am making a charcoal filter of my own how large does it need to be? I've seen the 5gal. bucket, but that seems like over kill. Would a large coffee can work?

I made my carbon filter with mechanics cloth, steel mesh stuf, 6" -4" reducer, 2-6" hose clamps , 6" end cap, and black panty hose using Sun is Shining from OG method. You can get quality dustless carbon at Walmart and even cheaper very dusty carbon at Home Depot. I only buy dustless carbon now. I became a carbon covered carbon based life form with that dusty crap.

chewmauro- A lot is going to depend on the temps in your room. I have a c-13 with a 6 inch fantech (that is the shit) with a speed control and I have no problems with restriction. My conditions my be diff from your as I live in cent cali where temps are 110 deg and the 6in is cranked up.

My ambients are running around ~75F tops. The outside temps are high 80's. It doesn't get too much hotter than this where I'm at. Decided to go with a 6" blower with a speed control.

What do you guys use to plug all your shit (lamp, fan(s), etc.) into? I was thinking a contractor/ professional grade surge protector (like I run my power tools off of.

Lastly, how loud are these beauties? Mine will be as inconspicuous as possible, but it will still be exposed to an area where guests and friends will walk through.

hehehe.. Ever hear a jet engine runnin.... :) Whooooooooosh..
The fans themselves are relatively quite while running but they move a shitload of air.....

They can be as quiet as a refrigerator. Just have the box plugged into something where everything can be turned off at once. Turn the grow off when guests come by. The plants will just think a big thick cloud went by. I run mine from 8pm to 8 am during flower. Not many guests during those hours.

My computer fans are 4 3/4". I got them as cheap surplus item at Edmund Scientific. Wired them into extra phone charger 12v converter. Works great.

Still growing. This time it is Ice and Nirvana indoor mix at 1 month flower. The Ice plants are strong and bushy but the mix plants were so small I put two of them to a pot giving me 7 plants in 5- 10" pots. I am always willing to adapt to the plants needs. Never double planted before but I wasn't sure One of these skinny plants wouldn't hermy. Two of them developed male parts but I removed the male parts and it appears under control.

How many plants are you guys doing in your c-13? I ask this cuz im going to try 9 3 gallon bags with scrog. I got my hands on some killer strains Blue Dot, SourDxSuperSilverHaze, purple cream, and 1 BlackBubba- BubbaxBlackWidow any info would help!!

By scrog, I assume you mean using clones to guarantee you aren't ripping males out of the screen leaving empty spaces on screen. I have not cloned yet. I think the c13 is a little tall and not wide enough to maximize yield with screen of green. If you notice my plants are taller than the light at sides. I put the shortest plant in middle directly under light and then tie it down a little to expose buds to light. The tall plants get a lot of side lighting. If you scrog I would use a very exagerated U or V shaped screen to get this side lighting and make use of the height of c13.

Hey guys, I've never grown in a cab before, mostly big stuff, but I am considering building one. What you guys are doing is amazing. I do have a question however; If I decide to use a 400 watter, is it necessary to have the centrifugal fan sucking through the light hood or can I just mount the fan on the roof of my box and put vents in the floor? That way the air enters at the bottom and exits out the top, hot air and all.

The grow is looking good, sumo. I am planning on firing up the C13 in the shed at the end of August and can't wait. This will be my fourth and fifth grows this fall/winter/spring. I'm planning on growing 7 strains, starting 29 plants in 3" x 3.75" square pots, and then potting them up to 29 4.5" x 5" square pots at around 3 weeks into veg. After one more week of veg, and two weeks flower, I'll then pick the best 9 mamas and finish them out in 8" pots (around 1 gallon, but a little bigger). I plan to grow tree style on the first grow. After harvest, I plan to re-veg the 9 mamas for about a month and a half, doing some LST, and then try for a huge massive harvest with 9 already identified, big, bushy-assed females. Working on a new setup for my C13 shed grow to make it stealthier and show how anyone can grow out herb in a shed through the winter using a Mill's Pride or similar cab. I'll stop in later next month with an update.

Well here is a pic off my second grow. In the mix I have BlueDot, BlackBubba (bubba kushxblack widow), SourDiesalxSuperSilverHaze and purple cream. I know its a overkill in a c-13 but will see what I get.

Well, I did it. I made my C24 (I think, whichever the largest model is).
- 430w HPS
- 6" Vortex in-line blower w/ a solid state speed control
- Intake through 2x 8"x8" louvers

Right now I have 15 clones taken from my outdoor Mandala Kalichakras and Satoris in a DIY wick-cloner.

The weather here is hot as fuck and my cab is running in the high 80's (f). I am running the lamp from 4pm-10am and am wondering if this type of electricity pattern will draw any attention.

I am working on building my carbon scrubber and was wondering if it would be reasonable to build a wire cylinder ala' the inner part of the well known DIY scrubber found here (on IC) and then wrapping it with a replacement carbon sheet for common air filters? As opposed to filling a space with actual carbon.

Why the wire cylinder then? I used to just roll that filter you speak of into a multi layered sock ,tape it to exhaust and blow into that. This type of filter worked good at first then lost effectiveness or couldn't keep up with my monster buds. Just build the real thing and buy aquarium carbon at walmart. My filter that fits 4" duct takes 3- $5 containers or $15 odd dollars worth of carbon. Well worth the price. So lets add up price of a grow --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
$15 Carbon
$12 Biggest bag of miracle grow moisture control potting mix.
$15 Nirvana strain currently Ice
$20 Miscellanious ( electric, fertilizer,seed potting mix)
---------------------------------------------------------
$62
So for $62 I get $1200 worth of buds. Thats 19 times my investment.
Of course there are fixed costs. My box cost about $500 to build. But this has been recouped and now it is all variable costs.

wow... these cabs are wicked... ive just about finished building my new grow cab... im just waiting to get enough money to buy my cooltube reflector...

heres some pics of my cabinet...

newcab21.jpg

newcab19.jpg

newcab16.jpg

the dimensions of my cab are 3ft x 1.5ft x 5ft... im having a lil bit of trouble with temps right now... nothing serious, i think that when i get my cooltube these issues will resolved... i may also look into getting another fan for taking air into the cab instead of just having a passive intake... i will just see how much of a difference the cooltube makes first before i decide whether i need the other fan or not...

im glad that i have found this place... some really great cabs here guys!!!
