Yes, I'll 2nd that! :good:

Somebody call Mr. Alkaline!
KK, I think you'd be right about DJ.
Shaheed, one of the foundation strains to all of DJ's work is the Highland Oaxacan and the red petioles and meristems often found in DJ's gear is associated to the Oaxacan.

I mention Mr. Alkaline because of this thread - yeah, it's long, but there's some good info in there.

Oaxacian?

Oaxacian?

So, a guy kept this line going since 1979 after bringing seeds home from a vacation in Acapulco. Kept as personal smoke, never gave away seeds or cuttings etc. Friend of mine gets pretty tight with him. Finally decides he's done with it and lets go of 2 small really poor plants. He was a "take cuttings and flip to 12 to figure out sex" method guy. Old school. These were only 2 he had left and they were vegged/flowered and back to veg all under 6" height. My buddy kept them for a month and gave them to me to see if I could try to save em. I did. As you can see from the picture when I was repotting them, I found there were no roots. So I've been feeding them foliar with Supernatural and taking cuttings. Here are some before and after pics. Anybody have any idea what these might be? Thanks.

I'd be pretty psyched having those gifted to me, Unk OG!

Maybe these Mextiza x Highland Mexican x Blueberry's aren't of pure Mexican descent, but with three outstanding highland Mexican's involved, I'm happy enough.

Not sure what you have, but if from 1979 Acapulco, I would say they are rare and wonderful. If you can, make some seeds and maybe share.:dance013:

Wow!

Wow!

I'd be pretty psyched having those gifted to me, Unk OG!

Beautiful Menhaden! I was pretty nervous I can't lie. I'm only 5 weeks in on my first flowering crop ever. I read a ton and always err on the side of caution. Common sense/research/consistency is really the key, for me anyway. I don't do anything until I'm certain it's not going to screw things up, lol.

I've been lucky too. My flower room is 8'x8', I run two, 1000w HPS lights. Veg room is 5'x5' w/one 400w MH on 24/7. The rooms are ducted together so they recirculate air between them. Fresh air comes in through flower room. My High/Low runs 76/69 on average! Blows people's minds!

I offered the AG's to my buddy, he has a decade of experience on me. He said,"you got this man". So far so good. Here are a couple pics of my current run.

this year i've made a nice selections a learnt one thing, you have more chances to find a good representation of the old school mexicans in the nepalese strains, than in the strains that people are growing in mexico right now...

I know this is a bit sacrilegious in the Mexican land race thread as they are only half bloods, but I think it is worth mentioning that you can find some stunning Oaxican leaning phenos in both the Mextiza and Aztec Rain lines. Both of these strains have an Oaxican mother. Mextiza's father is Nepalese Jam which is a Jamaican x Nepalese Highland Sativa hybrid and thus the strain is 100% IBL sativa.

Aztec Rain is more of a poly hybrid mutt with a pure Oaxican IBL mother and Chocolate Rain father. Chocolate Rain is a modern hybrid that has some IBL roots. Chocolate Rain is a Chocolope x DJ Short Cocoa Cush. Both of these parental lines are believed to have some Mexican land race roots, but all in all Aztec Rain has more of a modern cultivar vibe than the Mextiza.

Regardless of being mud bloods, both of these are lovely strains that capture the fun Mexican sativa buzz in an easy to grow package.

For those who are afraid to jump in head first into cultivating land race strains both of these strains are excellent introductions to the world of mexican sativas and they are very easy to grow and have that fun, warm and stimulating oaxican style buzz that make the land races from this part of the world so sought after. Seriously, for those who have never tried any Mexican sativas you should give them a try or at least try out a first generation hybrid like the two I just mentioned. It's great smoke.

Esko's Jalisco Jaze is very much along the same lines. The one plant I brought to maturity was well behaved & easy to grow, also old school tasty & potent.

I just got some primera dama from delicatessen seeds, it's supposedly a true mexican from the 60s and 70s that was provided by RC Clarke. Has anyone grown these or have any pictures?

The few pics I have seen they look awesome, lots of foxtails.

Hybrid?¿

Hybrid?¿

Must be this is one of the late 70's hybrids as it clearly has indica genes but man do I love it. So far 4 rooted clones in cups, 2 in the hands of my buddy who has years more experience than I do. I've started to prep one of the large plants for flower in a week or so. The other large plant will be kept to take cuttings from until another nice mother is picked. These had root problems when I got them. They are ok now but I'll feel better when I have some new ones with better roots from the start. Here are a few pics of "Mom"

My breeding male from Sinaloa that I have dubbed "Culiacan Bamboo" for semi obvious reasons.

This is the sole survivor out of 48 old seeds that were germinated. They were a gift to a friend, from his neighbor who hails from that area. I plan to gift him back the same amount of seeds plus some flowers. When I do, I'm going to try to get as much additional information about those seeds as I can. I do know that they were highly prized by him, and the half dozen guys who were standing there when he gave them to my buddy. I also know that they had tried to get them to grow in vain, and thus they enlisted my friend. Between he and I, it has been bred to 12 or 15 strains already, with several growing, but none flowered yet. Can't wait to try his girls out this year.

Left to right 5 1/2 weeks flower under 10/14 light. Acapulco Gold by Bodhi, one on the left is just flowering as it was stunted by cat chewing off the top. First Lady from Delicatessen, hope it is really a old Mexican line, but that is the story. Guerrero x Blueberry by Chimera, gonna get maybe 50 f2 seeds off it and just a bit of smoke. Guatemalan from ACE, I included it as it is really close to a old Mexican line imo.

Not sure how I missed this thread but I'm gonna be taking some time to go through it all!

I'd love to try some of these old lines.. seems there was so much of it around at one time, that people just shrug it off nowadays. Who here has some old Mexi lines stashed away??
