*The K.I.S.S. Method*

What I have in my notes looks good on screen but I have no way to put them into practice so don't take what I type as gospel. Just putting it out here for the much appreciated feedback. I did forget to mention that the formulas (not formulations) may require epsom salt if a magnesium deficiency arises.

Headbangers. Day 47. 50/50 Promix HP:Chunky Perlite. Maxibloom @ bout 1.3.
Comes down to about 3g/gallon
Healthy splash of cal/mag to drop me at about 1.4.
bunch of silica to bring the ph up to 6.7

I have my maxibloom in a zip lock but it really absorbs moisture in the air. Anyway to dry it out and keep it dry?

Yeah, when I get my Maxibloom , as soon as I open the packs it's straight to small Mason jars. It keeps well like this but the plastic packaging lets moisture in.

Keep It Simple, Stoners!
:huggg:
1.) I still exist. I've just been on the heavy grind for the last few years.
2.) I've moved on to greener pastures. Literally and figuratively :tiphat:

I will be starting a NEW KISS thread over in the organic soil forum, I'll link it when she goes live! I believe this thread has helped some, but I have gone in a completely different (and much more simple, imho) direction.
"Go on and grow on," as a wise old head once said.

I have these KISS nutrient combinations in my notes. Should be more effective than maxibloom or lucas.

GH maxigrow/bloom 2:1
...

It depends on your growing method, I think Lucas expects you to run some recirculating hydro at a high PPM to get enough nitrogen out of the Maxibloom.

I run hempy buckets and found out pretty quickly that full strength Lucas each watering gives classic over fert damage.

Once you dilute Lucas down to about 400ppm, it doesn't work very well.

So now I run just Maxigrow 200ppm from week 2 veg, 400ppm from the end of week 3 all the way to end of stretch in flower, then switch to 1:1 Maxigrow Maxibloom for the rest of flower and flush the last week or so. This is pretty simple to remember.

If you were doing a DWC it would be completely different than hempy buckets.

Lucas ran DWC and E&F, primarily. He also advocated specific reservoir management techniques. Without paying attention to the res management, you'll run in to several issues. You'll see examples everywhere.

Yes, full strength is too much for a hempy, every feeding. You have to treat it more like soil and feed, water, water, feed. :)

Same as any other nutrient profile. Yep. :)

The nutrient usage will be the same, the application is slightly different. I've run DWC for 15 years and hempy off and on.

@deshamanya 2:1 Maxigrow:Maxibloom? I'll pass on that quality. No offense. The nutrient profile is significantly wrong for cannabis. Growing with that mix will consistently pack the elements in excess into your new growth. I'm pretty sure if you put your thumb over a bowl you've just taken a roasting hit from, it'll be either uncomfortably hot or blister your thumb.

It should go out immediately, without uncomfortable heat. :)SaveSaveSave

Yeah, probably not good to ingest unless you're mineral deficient. Those formulas I posted appear to be better suited for veg period. Way too much nitrogen for bloom like you stated before.

Hi there, I’m new to hydro and fairly new to growing. I’ve done a couple soil grows both in and out doors. I’m trying dwc with a top feed and am using maxibloom as my nute. So my question is concerning nute strength(ppm). My reservoir is 5 gallons so I mixed 35grams (7g/Gal) of maxibloom in 5 gallons of tap water and then added some ph up to get to 6. When I test my ppm using my new meter, I am at 109ppm. This seems low so am I to assume that my meter is wrong? My tap water tests at 26ppm while some distilled water I checked comes up at 9ppm.
I’ve had these plants in dwc for a couple weeks with not much happening so I’m wondering what’s up...
Thanks for your help

Check your ppm meter, there should be a little indicator showing you're past 1000ppm and to multiply the value shown by 10. ;) Why the top feed, if you're DWC? There's a thread on the web called "Ask Lucas" and I highly recommend any new DWC users read it a few times.

Thanks Douglas, I found it. When in doubt read the manual...
I’ll check out the ask Lucas thread.
Thanks again...

Btw, that's a bit hot and the reason the plants have been doing nothing. Take some out and put it on your yard/garden and add back some clean water. You want the pH to slowly rise while the ppms slowly drop.

I am loving the K.I.S.S. method for my first grow. The maxibloom after mixed w/ my tap water is in the correct pH range so that's an added bonus to it being inexpensive. I am seeing great flower development, have had no deficiency problems either.

Getting ready to switch over my 5k garden to the KISS method... but, can anyone save me the trouble of reading 371 pages and let me know where the current conventional wisdom is on this thread? Same as the first page? 1 tsp maxibloom/gal and 1/2 tsp/gal of powder KB for the last 4 days before final two week flush?

No need for Cal Mag, or ProTekt? Bud Blood? Floralicious? Molasses?

Really looking forward to this... $$$ is TIGHT and the market is FLOODED in SoCal!
