I don't mind hybrids or multi hybrids. They have their place and I am growing a haze hybrid now which I am excited about. The quality of weed today is consistant, but whats missing is those superb diversity of highs that would cut through everything els.
When I first found out about seedbanks my first thought was that wow, I can now buy a Thai Stick seed and grow my own. Similar to what Hempy said about Panama Red. What a disappointment.
While I doubt I will ever have proper Thai sticks again, I have some landrace varieties that look legit from TRSC, like Thai and Manipuri. Also picked up some sativa from Vanuatu that was on the smuggling route from South America to Austrlaia, that are meant to be descended from Mangobiche. There are places in the world that few Westerners visit such as Burma, some parts of India and China, maybe parts of Indonesia. I don't think all is yet lost, but a good deal is.
Hempy would be correct in that a lot of old Australian growers would have some gems, no doubt, but they will die out unless a younger generation becomes interested. The opposite seems to be the case. Most young people I know are just after the latest American hybrid with shiny bag appeal and a narcotic couch lock high.
