The growing large plants, outdoors, thread...

Some farmers enjoy spending $$ on all sorts of bottled shit and others dont. Other farmers like to keep it simple/cheap as possible and understand that its possible to grow great cannabis with fungal/bacteria active soil and listening to the plant instead of throwing the kitchen sink at it. Plants know what to do and need minimal help from us..

Exactly. No soil test , simple soil amendments, simple compost tea and a few ppd foliars up until now...

Not getting your soil tested shouldn't be a bragging point. You cant know which amendments are needed and in what amount. It's like making a cake where some of the ingredients are already in the bowl, but you don't know how much and you don't know how much nore is needed.

Mendo local gotta say again your plants look very heslthy last tr no question. Any chance you might share that soil mix and amendments.

No chance you would be interested in trying a foliar program on one plant next yr? A half pound diff on that plant would probably cover the cost

Either way you have an impressive garden

I totally hear you on that.... I guess it's kind of fun for me to try and figure out what my plants need for the year based on previous years performance.

Sure but I don't really have a recipe. A few bags ewc, a few bags chicken stutzmans, then some feather meal, kelp meal, bone meal, rock dust, gypsom, lime and that's about it I think.

I would love to try a side by side next year! Don't get me wrong, I'm not set in my ways or closed minded at all....I'm here to learn.

I hear that and works, if balanced, yet think you're missing out. Reppin2c dealing with some stoopid high soil K levels, imbalance really. Best we can figure the fairly local soil blending company/provider ripped off his bonemeal and fooked his soil up. If it wasn't for the foliar program I helped him with he'd be screwed. He's now on a 5 day Ca foliar rotation program to compensate. Probably one of the better growers I've run across. Doesn't have a puter so I'll have to post pics for him next time we have dinner.

Ha...my son uses the same method. Drives me insane but works for him. I even ytest his soil every once in a while and it is as close as mine. Just make sure he uses quality amendments and let him do his thing.

He does stop by for foliars every week or two though.

The thing that amazes me is the biology in his soil...got no clue how but it is there

Yah man so far so good.... I really couldn't complain about any aspect of my plants.... be it yield, quality or resistance. Next year I will get a soil test. That would be very interesting.

That's way cool your kids grow milky, I'm a 3rd generation ganja farmer myself....

One thing I've seen in Cali is when the weather is all good most everyone has a banner season. When the weather sucks, which seems like 1 out of 4 years or so, only those peeps on their game do OK. In years like that they see about a 10% loss when everyone else is whining and complaining the weather screwed them. No...it was their plants weren't healthy enough to deal with the adversity. Just wait and see who shines through when we have bad harvest season weather. It'll be peeps like BYF that do just fine.
