Check out Solar Pathfinder. Same thing, only costs 300 bucks. Its just not digital. I use one and it works wonders.

Earthworm Farm Soil Factory in Butte Valley, CA. I have seen several people sing the praise of Earthworm Farm. Was getting ready to take the plunge. At $198 a Cubic Yard, is the value there?
If I purchase and grow in that soil, will it need to be supplemented throughout the grow with ferts? Exactly, how are you peeps using this soil in the manner that it would be better than say, Vermifire or any of the other soil companies that cater to the 420 boys? Thanks Guys, and my thoughts go out to Anonymous too. Lost my barn once, and all the animals in it. Not as bad as a whole house though.

@Bamboogardener. I bought a small amount from them i cant remember how many gallons. not alot and some 707 I didnt notice a huge difference. I just watered both in a side by side. I suggest buying a yard and trying it for yourself. See if it works for you. Good luck in your search!

Run the numbers , a pallet of black gold is about 375 dollars , if you get the 2 cubic bags you get 80 cu ft on 1 pallet , there's 27 cu ft in 1 yard then you gotta add castings etc., I think Dazey's charges like 300 dollars for 1 yard of GEoBlast castings. LoL
The amount of castings in the Nor Cal Blend is an added in value , as well as all the tea they spray on it , dry amendments they add in ... etc., etc., you can't really compare.
Will you take the norcal blend and rip with it? Probably. Depends a lot on your water source just like with any other soil blend really. You need to test the water where your farm is and see what's up before you'll know if you need to adjust the mix.
I've had repeat success with it and its just really easy to prep the area with heavy machinery then come in and just dump multiple yard piles of the stuff and plant.
the problem with this industry right now is people coming in wanting to grow 200 pounds outside and have it be automatic...Theres guys in the hills who spent years figuring out how to do it..All the info is in these pages..Its insulting to go over the same shit every season..It makes it so the cutting edge stuff doesn't get a chance to get brought up.

The Internet in general, and especially these forums make it hard to sometimes decipher the true meaning and tone of someones post. I may be incorrect but I sense a tad of annoyance in your post. But here are the details. I talked to Dave at Earthworm Soil Factory twice now. When asked for a report on his NorCal Mix, I was told "We don't play that game here", and "I may be able to dig up a soil sample report from a few years back". I have read and reread this forum several times and have never, not once seen any indication to Earthworm Soil Factory's analysis of their soil. I may have missed it, but have only become aware of it through you stating how good it is.
Now it may in fact be the best kept secret in Northern California. I was and still am thinking about ordering several thousand dollars of the soil. But before I do so, I want to collect all the information I can about it.
I have been growing probably before you were born, so I am not just entering the fray here as someone who is looking to "cash in" on the latest acceptance of cannabis. If fact, I have paid my dues probably more than most, having done over 6 years on 10 for the feds for importing (aka smuggling) pot in massively large amounts back in the 70's, but that is another story.
I was only requesting information on a company that sells soil, and was looking for first hand information from people that have used it. If the information I requested was offensive to you, my apology, but I am still going to ask others what they think of the soil. I see no information on the soil at all, anywhere. Could be I am looking in the wrong places. Vermicrop Organics has listed on their website a lot of information on their VermiFire soil so one can make an honest determination if it is for them. I do not see that for Earthworm Soil Factory.
So if I offended you by asking about their soil, so be it. Was not meant to be offensive or "insulting" in any nature though, but I still am going to ask before plunking down several thousand dollars for a load of soil.

If you are going to spend thousands of dollars. buy a yard. send a little bit to a lab. get it tested. see for yourself? lab tests are pretty cheap these days.

I wasn't impressed by Vermfire, which I used last year--it doesn't hold moisture and my chem4s starting yellowing a week into flower... I didn't order quite enough to I ended up using 1.5 yards of some $200/yard soil that had been used the previous year and not amended, in two three gallon pots right at the front of my grow.. The old soil killed the vermifire in every way. It held water better...the plants were healthier... and, the bud structure was more beautiful.... This year I'm kind of stuck with it again and I'm going to add vermiblend at half their recommended ratio which is 5:1... however, on another grow that I'm consulting on we're using all ewsf...

Hey Furry. I have to agree with you that the Vermi is not that impressive in my opinion. What Vermi does do though is list all the components of it's soil on its website and a soil report is available. In that manner you can make a decision on if it is right for you. What I do not like about it is that they claim it is organic, but yet I see that blood meal is used in it. Year before last I grew three Chocolope trees in 100's. One in Vermi, one in FFOF and one in Empire Builder Growers Mix. There was absolutely no difference in the three in either yield, height, or taste.
What I was looking for was that extra bump that some soil company somewhere may have, and it very well may be the EWSF product. What did not impress me though is that they have not tested the product via a soil sample recently, and stated that "they do not play that game". Seems a lot of people here talk about soil samples and sending them out to various labs. If a soil test is not important, then why are peeps so interested in sending out their soil to be tested?
It would be nice to purchase new soil and have a report on what it is. In that manner in the year following the purchase, you could compare what you have now, with what you had when you bought it new. If I go EWSF soil, I will definitely send it off before it is used to have that baseline.
If you think that not checking out the product before you buy is important, well then, I have a great deal for you on a full title to the Empire State Building and the Eifel Tower that I will sell you pennies on the dollar, lol. Get my point?

This thread is all about growing big outdoors ask all the questions you want about soil bamboogardener. Calling this "the easiest decision of the year" is a joke. Creating the soil you're going to grow your plants in for the next 7 months is probably the most important step you will take besides watering. Also thanks for posting your Vermifire soil tests, I noticed after you did several other members did too. I have read this entire 700+ page thread through multiple times and only a handful of people have posted their soil test results.
For every 100 people that swear by their local 420 soil blend, we may get 1 soil test. We need more testing and less product placement. This place is beginning to sound like the local hydro shop. This thread goes back and forth between people that are interested in the science and experience necesarry to grow big healthy plants and those that just swing by to look at awesome bud shots. We need more of the former less of the latter.This is the place to talk about soil building people. I would love to see more recipes for soil mixes

If you knew about mixing soil you'd know it isn't like a cake and every scenario is different. That is why you don't see "recipes"
