seeds popped is what im guessing you refered to on may 1st.....seeds dont normally show sex till 6-8 weeks of growing..regarudrless of light duration... people put out seedlings april 1st as i do and have without them showing sex till 1st -2nd week of may..15th of may they are close to a 14.5 outside light cycle which allows them to continue to stay in veg without sup lighting... i would guess your wanting signs of sex to soon.... not all plants show signs of sex early...

If your referring to my picture, then it may just be you. I do have a plant that I suspect to be flowering, but the one pictured is not. At least I hope I am right about this.:tiphat:

to add to the supp lighting debate, i have been having a disagreement with some of my neighbors about the need for supp lighting.

basically theres an old timer on our mountain who has the plants to back up his talk, he never uses supp lighting and routinely hits 8lbs on his mounds with the standard blue dreams, green cracks etc..

anyways he says that his plants will preflower every year but that he just "cuts off the forming buds" and claims that the lower nodes will revert to veg in july. he has managed to convince another friend on the mountain to use no supp lighting as well...anyways im sticking with supp lighting just in case, i dont want to risk preflower but maybe its not as bad as a development as some of us think...i will have around 6 plants outside the main ring of supp lighting and will be using those as testers versus the ones that have a CFL bulb right above. also what kind of bulbs are yall using? im using 16000 lumen "daylight" CFLs that use 23 watts each and have equivalent of 100 watts incandescent.

hey madjag my males always show preflowers before females even while in veg they will have a few pods start to develop, but that plant does look well on its way to flower.

a preflowering plant isnt bad but isnt great.... you have a period of time where it just kind of sits there and doesnt do much.and what i call retards out as it gets the 3 leaf problem for 2 weeks..yes you can cut the preflowers off and try to force it back into veg mode considering the light cycle is there..but it still cost you time of growing..time in the summer you dont have... but if he can pull 8 off a plant that preflowered he could probably pull 12 off one that didnt...what works for some may not work for others in every sense...but dont forget these plants are OUTSIDE plants in nature and grow fine with no supp lighting

i NEVER use supp lighting outside if planted after may 15th and use 16.5 hours inside to start and raise cuts....cuts are taken feb 28th - march 10th depending on strain and growth patterns, seedlings go outside in green house april 1st as they just pop the dirt . if you think how nature works . april is warm enough to sprout those seeds or may in some places . the "april showers bring may flowers" the april rain and the warmed up ground makes for a natural seedling sprout as it would in nature...... this is the reason i start out my cuts at 16.5 hours even with t5's..trying to replicate nature.. i try to get them used to the amount of hours they will be set out at in may as "nature" ... 14.5 hours sun , plus the 30-45 min sunrise and sunset light. reaching roughly 16 hours of light. i find they adjust alot easier with this.. and take right off..

i see alot of guys who use a 24 on cycle and even 18-6 light cycle suffer from preflowers setting out on same date as i do. what works for some dont work for others.

Prop I use the same daylight colored cfl bulbs just 13 watt and they work fine and the gas lasts longer on the geny throughout the night with them all at the lower wattage.

As far as reverting plants go, I run an OG that wants to flower on anything under 18 hours light, its very hard to keep in veg outdoors unless you have lighting. Long story short is it will severely screw your quality up. People wont want to trim it cause there is too much smalls/larf, even when you prune it out. Ive still got ok yields cause it becomes so branchy but takes forever to trim and costs extra. Avoid at all costs imo.

1gph PER EMITTER. a 300 gallon pot will take at least 30 emitters at 12" spacing coiled in the pot, meaning 30GPH for the whole pot. You will water the zone for about an hour to saturate. Math is your friend. YMMV based on waterholding capacity and drainage in your medium.

With healthy (from clone to harvest) plants of vigorous genetics, you should be able to count on 5 from a 300.

going over some things before i re-do my drip lines this year, is 1gph 12" spaced, 1/2 inch tubing sufficient for a 200 or have you guys changed your numbers in the last few years.

i have 1' mainline that run to approx 15 200 gallon pots on each pump, forgot the gph on pump but will know soon.

each pot is off a reducer T to 1/2 dripworks PC emitter tubing.....now im wondering to go with 9" or 12" and use nomaads math and get 30 emitters on each pot.

should i go with the 9" for more water or find tubing that has larger than 1gph?

yea theres no OG in my garden this year they were some of my lowest yielders and way too thinly branched, gonna run some chem4 and chem4xSD for that spectrum of terpene profiles...the chem4 is looking kind of stretchy like an OG which im not too happy about but il have to make do...they are super healthy and vigourous plants. theres also some royal kush and 5GsxFireOG seeds in there somewhere, and lots of cherry pie, blue unicorn blowjob, dreamqueen, and a half dozen GSC for the head stash plot...

thanks in advance.

The leaf curl if for sure from too much watering. I hadn't watered her in two weeks and I had just made a tea. I went ahead and watered her, but her feet are a little too wet. Plus, the next 3 days are cold and overcast, just like the last three. The wind here also might have played a role in the leaf curl. They bay area is very moist, and never gets above 80 except a couple times a year, so over watering is very easy to do. I figure a tea will at least bring new O2 into the soil zone.

The mulch I buy from a soil yard by the yard. I am not picky when it comes to mulch. As long as it keeps my micro heard nice and moist on the top layer, it works for me.

Veg N Out

Well after a 25 degree frost , we are ahead of the curve set last year with larger plants in the ground earlier than I've managed to get them in previous years. All in all, off to a good start.

looking great fellas. Good to see ya back Tom!! I have a kind of off topic question / picture but i trust the responses from people in this thread more than anywhere else. I have a little security force of about 200-250 baby praying mantis in my garden and had been planning on starting my foliar / ca 25 sprays in june but i do not want to harm these little guys. as you can see from the pic they are doing work even at a young age. my teas are just basic compost recipes for foliar applications...castings, kelp, molasses, etc etc nothing crazy. Anybody with experience with these little guys your 2 cents would be much appreciated!! thanks !

I personally go to extreme ipm (chems) while I have everything consolidated in the greenpads once and once only, before taking them out. Then slop on the molasses so as to attract bennies and cross my fingers from there. But you have no worries hammering praying mantis with c25, ime, green light..

A question for Mr. Californicus. You say an ergs of 600-800 is ideal, what if mine is 2700. Just to get an apples to apples comparison what ratio of soil to water are you using for sample? Do you screen out pertilite. Shaken or stirred. Us or Ms micro or millisiemens. I ask cause things arent as perky as id like. I am running down the check list of possible culprits. Soil test results arent back yet but I am running your mix in some soil that had been amended in years past and didnt bother to get a test done before adding. I know stupid. If my ergs is what it says it is what can be done. Adjust orp and flush? Up microbial activity? Do you think not thoroughly wetting out mix after amending can have attributed to the high EC. What sodium meter do you use the yellow one or something else. Where does the sodium and chloride come from. I know too much is bad but indicated you wanted at 2.3 or something like that. So what happens when its goes to low and what should be done. Sorry for the mudslide of questions. Been lurking for awhile but I will start contributing soon. Thanks for everything you've done for this community.

Just out of curiosity.....Are these going to be full season plants, or are ya going to light dep them?

I ask because, them plants are BIG, and it's going to be overgrown if you go full season. Just saying.

Looks Nice, regardless, healthy plants. and that 10X20 Greenhouse is sweet.

Peace

Yeah I was a little worried about them getting large as well. The spot Gets decent light but not crazy amounts so I think that might help and if all gets crazy then I'm just gonna pull the cover off the greenhouse. Hmmmm more to think about...
