The growing large plants, outdoors, thread...

two things that must be considered in this are
1. the quality of the cut. is it a kush? or what they(the people) call kush.
2. the drying curing process. no matter the cut , drying and curing too fast or "not correctly" will ruin anything period. a two day dry and a two day cure are in no way acceptable unless its your "only" option...
outdoor usually sells for less because there is more of it. but folks who have the right genetics, and a good cure/grading process can still get a fair price for their wares.also to take into consideration is the rarity of certain genetics. if everyone has "blue dream" this year , and everyone is getting 5+ per plant off it, then only the best blue dream will fetch a fair price. as soon as the market is flooded the price will drop substantially.
hope that helps

no its not always the cut that is kush basically the people here call anything without seeds and a very pungent smell kush.
now we get some stuff that is beautiful but doesnt smell real bad and that drops the price of the bud tremendously even though i have had lots of non smelly bud that will set me on my arse lol as a general rule of thumb around the south people believe if it dont stank it aint dank. so basically any halfway decent strain that has a good strong odor will sell for around 5400 a pound here
lol i know you probably just shit a brick when you read that number but thats the inflation from west cost to midsouth thats why i am lookin at relocating and just growin my own!!

Hortonova

Hortonova

In your pics, what is the function of the scrog-type top netting??? My plants are at about 6 1/2 feet now and about 5 feet wide....will the hort be helpful at this stage. Wire cage inside. This is new to me, I'm used to tying down branches indoors to spread open plants.
We use Hortonova trellising in approx. two feet intervals as the trees climbs higher and higher. On some of the 2nd cages we lay a sheet of cage fencing atop on others (especially if the boughs are already prominent and peeking a ways out on top) we use the Hortonova trellising. Then apply more as needed for future support. This reduces the chance of weather damage towards the end of the season; however, adds a bit of a challenge to the harvest process. I do a lot of tying down as well. I love opening up the plants for optimal sunlight and watching all the new branches become beautiful spears. If you have the Hortonova, I'd use it at least once over the top, before your ladies grow to big. We also drape Hortonova from top to bottom later in the season to make sure everything is nice and secure for the final stretch. Good luck and HAPPY FARMING!

Tumble Weed

fill when you say shuckin the fan leaves i understand that part but when you say you run them through the tumbler is that the buds your tumbling to get some extra hash of of them or you running the trimmings through the tumbler?
We run them through a trimming machine (similar to the upgraded Twister) http://www.thetwistermachine.com/
The buds slowly work their way through the chamber as they are finely trimmed into beautiful KOLAS... As they proceed through the chamber - They "Tumble"... Hence the tumbler... The left over matter is whisked away and stored in a large bag... You can either compost the remains or make it into butter, elixir, candy, et cetera. When cleaning the machine there is always a fine amount of hash leftover from the process, that you can scrape up and save for someone or something special!

Since we're showing our trimmers, I have done some forty pound days with my Twisters. I had the same machine as Fill but wasn't happy with the job it was doing. I have been very happy with my Twisters.

hl and fill when you guys use the trimmers do you use them soon as you cut the plants or do you give them a couple days of drying time before you run them through?

they dont to me......humboldtlocal sure is a great grower.......but that trimming process seems to ruin the outside of the buds......i understand that a lot needs to be processed at once.....but that is the last route i would take. :tiphat:

Ruined?
Whats ruined about the buds?:dunno:
If he is getting that much bud off of a single plant then it only makes sense that something that speeds up this process , helps out greatly.
In my humble opinion, I would only assume that he then has some kickass wicked trim to make whatever he wants afterwards.:dance013:

HL has the Trim! I wonder what he makes with it? Oil , Kief. Wouldnt that be fun to work with a quantity of quality trim like that?

they only look that way when they are wet. once dry, they look great. granted, hand trimmed herb looks a little better, but I have no beef with machine trimmed nug. and if you give them a quick hand trim to handle the "negative topography" that the machine doesn't get, they are damn close to indescernable from hand trimmed nug.

there will always be my special reserve, personally selected and hand trimmed.

its much more realistic to make bubble concentrate with the trim from a wet-trim machine. freeze it, and bubble it.

Have you noticed mass crystal loss, using this Machine? If so how was Potency effected by the Loss compared to hand trimmed?

the outside of them......all the calyxs on the surface of the nugs have taken a massive beating......i understand this is a method used to speed up the process.....this is nothing new to me......

im noting they dont look as nice this way.....no questioning the grower skills......humboldtlocal does a great job.

What does that machine cost? Went to the Web site, couldn't find a price, only 'contact us' and 'suppliers in your area'.
