Had my elbow surgery today.

Went pretty good. Doc said he shaved a lot off of my bone spurs and removed quite a few chunks and particle of bone. It's a little sore, but not bad. OTC stuff is doing a pretty good job of knocking down the pain to an ache, which I can live with.

My stomach isn't faring very well though. I haven't been able to keep anything down yet except plain water. Not even saltines. But tomorrow is another day and I hope I can eat then.

I am SO glad I bought that churchwarden glass pipe because I wouldn't be able to smoke. I can't roll a joint and all my other pipes are under 6". Might be able to use my bong...

Glad this gigantic bandage comes off Thursday. Shoule be able to bend it a bit more then.

Biggest complaint so far? The OR scrub they used Trumpified my hand. Looks like I pimp slapped him a couple of times.

I went to the hospital yesterday to give blood for blood workup. The girl who registered me asked if I had a persistent cough lately or if I was around anyone who did. I said, No. I didn't think anything of it.

Then, she asked me if I have traveled abroad, recently. I said, No.... well, except that one stop I made in Wuhan. I explained to her that I am a courier. And, I said, I just stopped off in China for 1 day to pick up some medical samples of some kind. I didn't crack a smile. She looked very alarmed. I just laughed. I asked her if it was about the Corona and she said, yes. Then a sign of relief. LOL

I sure would love to have the Purcell contract for that place. 12 stations where you can disinfect your hands, just in the waiting room. I wonder how stock in hand cleaners has done in the past decade. GoJo, Purcell, I imagine a few others have the market.

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to say Hi. I turned 71 last month and I'm starting to feel it. Been living on SSDI because I lost everything after being nearly killed in a car wreck 25 years ago. So I have to deal with Medicare only...while confronting my ailments. Been neglecting things so long my Doc finally put her foot down and sent in an ortho consult on my hip.
So looking at a total hip or possibly a resurfacing procedure.

I'd love to hear from anyone with experience of hip surgery.
Cheers guys,
JD

Had one hip replaced about 2 years ago. Used to do a bunch of running of marathons/backpacking inside the Grand Canyon and just wore the thing out. I'm almost your age. The ortho doc told me no more running but I can walk and day hike all I want. After carefully following physical therapy's recommendations following surgery and doing my exercises all the time, today my new hip really gives me little trouble. As a matter of fact I don't even think about it much. I get out and walk or hike 3 or 4 times a week with my longest weekly trek usually about 6 miles...no problem!:woohoo:
Being persistent with rehab really pays off.

How did I miss this thread? Hell yes I'm grumpy. I stepped out my front door one day just in time to catch some asshole chuck out his empty beer bottle and McDonalds bag in my yard. "Hey ASSHOLE!" I yelled. The driver stopped the car. "YES YOU! Get your punk ass back here and pick your garbage up! I don't throw trash in your yard, get back here pick that shit up!" The driver backed up and I thought for a minute I was gonna hafta open a can of whoop ass. Then the passenger got out, said "I'm sorry," and picked up his garbage and they hauled ass.

Then there was the bitch that let her dog shit in my yard. She was walking away and I yelled out "You better get back here and pick that shit up, or you will wear it home." She stopped, turned and looked at me, then whipped out a plastic back and picked up that warm turd. She gave me the stink eye, and I said "If I wanted to pick up dog shit, I'd have a dog. And I'll be fucked if I pick up YOUR dog shit." She doesn't walk her dog past my house anymore.

Yep, I'm and old grumpy bastard and I wear that badge with pride.

ball and socket joints according to a fam member who works on pro athletes is the #1 most painful area to injure from his experiance. Seeing a tit ball instead of the ole femoral one is kinda terminatorish....lmao bruins and canadiens playing orig 6 ....i miss the hartford whalers

Thanks Gypsy...will do.

I grew some cbd plants last winter and made it all into cannabudder. Still have some. I was taking it everyday and got good relief...but when you have a joint that's seriously deteriorated...surgery is the only true fix. I also had a hip cortisone injection which worked wonders. So I don't have to rush into the surgery.

did it just turn orange, or shrivel to half size too? you did not hit him hard enough...

Just orange. Not enough time for atrophy to set in. :moon:

Took the gigantic bandage off of my arm today and got to shower. So my hand is back to normal color.:woohoo:

Arm is a little sore but not bad. Still quite swollen and stiff. 7 small incisions with maybe 12 stitches.

Doc said he took out 6 big pieces and a bunch of smaller ones. He also shaved down my spurs so I should have increased range of motion in my elbow when I'm all healed up. Which will be a nice change of pace.

Total hip replacement 2 years ago in April. Totally worth it when it was done. I was popping pain meds and hobbling around for 8 months before the surgery.

I was 100% medically cleared to return to work as an electrician which means on my feet and ladders for 40-60 hours a week. And it sucks. That's why I'm starting a new career that involves more desk driving in the next couple of weeks.

Since you're 71, I doubt you climb ladders all day long any more. It will be worth it. And make sure you do your physical therapy! It is vitally important if you want to walk normally again.

^^^ TRUTH ^^^

Physical therapy is very important after surgery to maintain full range & motion . You will truly understand what is meant by "no pain , no gain".

blessedyou are.

blessedyou are.

Yeah man - I was in my late 40's when getting old and being alone occurred to me - so I actively went out into the world in search of a good woman I could love - and loved me - who would be willing to start a family with me - and I headed for S.E.Asia - knowing that the people there hold much more value in having families - and looking after old folks - rather than sticking them away in some old peoples home -

As luck would have it - in early 2007 - I found the lady who was to become my wife - who was willing to bear our children - and she was at the most fertile time of her life - she was 23 years old - half my age -

What made me decide to ask for her hand in marriage in 2014 - was her proven dedication to me - even at my lowest ebb - locked up in a shit-hole jail - in the Philippines - yet she still stood by me - thru 2 and a half years - till I was allowed to deport back to the UK - she kept me sane - visited me regularly - and gave me a reason to keep on keeping on -

I love the activity and laughter of having a home with loving wife and kids - its too lonely without them - and I know that because it took nearly 3 years to get her and the kids over to the UK from the Philippines - to be able to live with me once again - this time in the UK - after 5 and a half years of forced separation - I was a lonely/grumpy old man - till they showed up!
god blessed your marriage. wish you and yours many years, peace mike tea from Oklahoma southern plains.
