Nice f-ing harvest, i'm a little inspired. Maybe for my next grow i'll do a 25+ plant SOG, so i can get dense buds like that.

MGJ - Thanks. I think I'm finally starting to get a hold of this growing thing, I'm sure each harvest will get better.
Both plants seemed to be somewhat sativa leaning, but T-A had a little more sativa qualities. Even though humidity has been up, there was no trace of mold in either plant.
The yield was still good and buds won't be too airy to smoke...should actually make for a nice stimulating buzz.
Summer in full swing should take care of the humidity issues till fall then the struggle starts over again.

pontiac - Thanks. 25+ plants would be killer. I don't think they'll fit in your cab. lol. I think these colas are strain related. Seems from my research my plants both leaned to the Chronic side of their genetics. Chronic is NL X Skunk X AK-47. These are all big yielding strains. I actually bought this strain for the purpose of having a Chronic cross so I could get a good indoor density while maintaining a great buzz. Serious seeds (original genetics of Chronic) suggests that all Chronic plants should be grown in a single cola fashion. I just follow the guidelines. Stick around, I'm just about to pack another bowl up.

Tange-B hits the jars tommorrow. Her scent is really coming out. Very skunky with subtle citrus tones. I wish I could taste a little more of that citrus taste. Hopefully a cure brings it out. It's amazing the difference between the grow scent and the dried scent.

I'll snap some pics when I throw the dried nugs in the jar...going to hafta cut apart the cola to fit it in. Should be a rewarding job for my senses...hope I don't drool all over my cola.

The smoke is so much sweeter..when you produce it..you know what it's been through.. :canabis:
Put cotton balls in your mouth when in presense of kola..drool might cause mold :biglaugh:

Dry Nugs Pics

Dry Nugs Pics

I figured I'd snap some dried nug pics while puttin T-B away in the jar.

I've smoked a few smaller buds now, and the taste and smell get better everyday. I'd like to leave it alone for at least 3 weeks...but I'm sure I'll be dippin in every now and then...but when the 3 weeks is up...it's gettin lit up.

packn2puff - I couldn't agree with you more. Seems whenever I smoke my own produce I'm checking it for quality control.
I do know what went into it, and according to some people I seen posting online, they are quite disgusted by using urine as a veg fert. I personally know urine is both sterile and the way the plant uses food, you would never be smoking urine. That's what a ghetto grow is all about though. Biggest yield with the smallest amount of money.

Trying to decide wheter to start a new thread or not. "The Dutch Passion Sisters" just doesn't really apply much anymore.

I'll grab some pics on day -1 flower. All 3 plants (Hempstar-Tangerine-Grape) are all sitting under the MH conv. in their new soil now. They love the new mix. 3 days under the MH in new soil has already done them wonders.

Grape looks like it will be a nice fat indica...hopefully it's a lady, it could be an early finishing strain, which is something I'm in need of now.

I agreed to allow myself to buy 1 new strain every year. I know it's only June still, but I think I decided what I want already. I was looking at Mikado or a Mikado cross, which I've seen a couple sweet crosses like BC Big Bud and Hashplant. I love me the hashplant...probably my favourite buzz. Mikado is a early finisher (45 days or so) it's a strong producer, potent, and it grows short. I think it would make the perfect parent also to be crossed with Passion #1 to make it more indoor friendly.

Next update will likely be T-A dry nugs and jar or the -1 day flower pics.

I'll leave you with my jar pic now.

Come back anytime

Tangerine-A Dry Nugs Sample

Tangerine-A Dry Nugs Sample

Jarred T-A today and did a smoke test.
:woohoo: what a great head high. I was left as giddy as a schoolgirl (.)(.) I even had a few unexpected bursts of laughter.
Very nice tasting...much, much smoother than T-B. Much more citrusy aroma and flavour alike. The flavour was almost that of an orange creamsicle. Very smooth. The aroma is like sweet, skunky, citrus.

Looks like I may have kept the wrong clone! :wallbash:

However my better half prefers the buzz on T-B. I've been mixing a few joints for testing, and it seems to be a good mix.

^ A little light and airy..but nice buzz, taste, and aroma.

MGJ - Summer plans for growing aren't going to be very varied. I'm cutting clones on Tangerine and Hempstar today, so...if Grape bagseed is female, it will join the mix. Gonna carry these genetics through till after the new year when I buy a new strain.
I know I can be pretty boring...but I have 2 strains and phenos I really enjoy...might as well be safe and stick with what I know I can do well with before I go getting too experimental.

On the personal level I plan to do some good weekend camping trips, lots of outdoor parties (which have already begun), and maybe a trip to the nations capital.
I'm trying so save some dough this year, as I'm planning a trip to Amsterdam next year. I'll enjoy the backyard mostly this year.

Thanks for the compliments on the pic. I don't plan on winning with some of the georeous photography up there...but it feels nice just to be nominated.

Just picked up a few 24's....the cooler is open. :friends:

Tangerine + Hempstar Flower Day -1

Tangerine + Hempstar Flower Day -1

Well..here we are at the beginning of a new grow.

For those of you just joining in here's the details:
Growrooms-
- 250W HPS with 42W CFL lighting
- Organic Bio-Max soil (chicken Manure, shrimp manure, cow manure, black soil, compost, kelp, dolomite lime), Perlite, Bone Meal, Epsom Salts, and Worm Casting medium.
- Ferts consist of Wilson's fish based 5-10-10 and Terracycle worm casting tea. Urine was used for veg.
- Veg box contains 64W mixed spectrum CFL

Strains-
Flowering: Dutch Passion Hempstar (NL#5 X Haze) + Willy Jacks Tangerine (Chronic X Cali-O)
Vegging: A clone from each of the forementioned and a "Grape" bagseed.

My mission is to spend as little money as possible growing the amount of bud I need without having to pay a commericial grower. This is my fourth grow, and I think after my next harvest, I will never pay for another bag of weed.

Tangerine - Day -1 Flower

^ She's 23cm(9") which is what I'm thinkin is going to be the perfect height for me to start flowering on a straight upwards grow.

Hempstar - Day -1 Flower

^^ My re-vegged beauty...She spent something like almost 11 weeks re-vegging. She's one helluva bush. She's 27cm(10 1/2") at the tallest point. I hope she can keep a canopy up with Tangerine...they are both minimal stretchers.

The Clones:
Tangerine -

Hempstar -

This is only my second attempt at cloning. This method worked for me last time. Last time they were 4 days into flower when they were cut. Should be easier this time. Dutch Passion boasts Hempstar as an easy to clone plant.

From Seed:
Grape -

^^^ Nice internode spacing and fat indica leaves. I got this seed in a bag of good fruity grape buds. I figured if it is grown commercially, it must be a good yielding early finisher. I need a good early finishing strain. Hopefully it's a female...I'd like to pop it into the flower room in 25-30 days. It will be trained. I think it's around 22 days from seed now.

If you are new to the thread...welcome. Stick around this should be a good round.

To all the regulars..hope you are enjoying the thread and thank all you guys for all your help.

I think I'll start smaller updates more frequently...maybe go for the every 7 day instead of 10.

See You All Soon! :joint:

Looks like you're gonna be in for a good round..I bet the re-vegged Hempstar is gonna kick some ass..Did you dip the clones first and/or bury a stripped node?

TML16 writes: I know I can be pretty boring...but I have 2 strains and phenos I really enjoy...

Man, nothing boring about that!!! I'm still looking for a coupla mothers I'd want to have around forever ( although one of the am99's will probably get a permanent spot late fall ) - simpler is better and if you have a coupla strains you really love and keep I'd call that heaven!

Congrats on the revegged hempstar - my revegging cindy burned out... will have to give another try another time. From all I've read a revegged plant will bush like crazy, so you're likely to be up to your chin in hempstar bud soon.

And you did sneak in a Grape seed!!! Hopin for a girl for ya...

Looks like you're off to a great start here! I like your philosophy, not only in keeping it inexpensive, but this also forces simplicity in the grow  and for me simpler means less problems to mess with.

Man you turned this one around quickly, I didn't even have time to get outta the lazyboy!!! :biglaugh:

Thanks for all the replies guys...nice to see everyone's out there.

PN2P - Re-vegged Hempstar is a crazy bush. It's growing like mad. Should be very interesting. I now have a clone too...could be a growroom staple for quite sometime.
Did you dip the clones first and/or bury a stripped node?
- Yes I did...Hempstar actually had multiple nodes that were sliced. Both were then widdeled to a point shape. They were then buried right to the neck. I also used Roots rooting solution.
After seeing your reply...I got excited cuz that means I musta done it right!

Alex-F - Thanks man. It's always nice getting some good karma before a new grow.

MGJ - It's true...I guess I'm pretty lucky to have 2 plants I really enjoy. Hempstar is THE keeper. That plant is so potent and tasty...I'd have to be nuts to give it up. Tangerine clone is just being grown for the great yield (and lack of other females). I cloned Tangerine again to go one more round because of yield. After that...it will be a new strains turn...or I'll try to find a better Tangerine pheno.
Sorry to hear about your cindy. Re-vegging seemed to be a looong ride.

For me it's mostly about the conservation and ideals of the situation. I use the 250W not cuz I can't afford a 400W ballast (they were $30 more)...I do it to save power. I also run the lights at night. I have spent no more than a mere couple hundred bucks on my growrooms and supplies, and I'm proud of this fact. If there wasn't the possibility of neighbours seeing...I woulda just grown in my yard under the sun for free. My grows cost me less than $10 per month in hydro.

Thanks Guys...See You Soon

I just cut, dip and plant..the node just under is probably best..I've widdled on water clones..but so far not with the rapid rooters..
I read somewhere about dipping immediately after your final cut..so the end doesn't even begin to oxidize..and so no air bubble forms in the stem..

Thanks for the tips PN2P...You know they are always appreciated.

Tangerine clone is a little wilted. I put them too close to the light...I don't know what I was thinking.
Hempstar clone is fine...just Tangerine had the problem. I misted them, moved them farther from the lights, and stuck a glass of water in the veg cab to keep humidity up.

Thinking bout taking a new Tangerine cutting tonight...just in case.

For rooting clones: Very weak light(20w fluoro is enough) for the next two weeks at least..you just wanna keep the clone alive, producing very little energy ..but not growing..light intensity doesn't help roots root..It makes the plant grow..
and with no roots..where's it gonna get the fuel for all that energy..the leaves..the plant will suck the life out of all it's leaves just to make one new one..
For sexing clones: moderate to good light is OK..because you don't care about the roots with a sex clone you just wanna know what you got..or dump pollen..

Like running a engine..with the gas tank cut off..it will run until the fuel line is empty..Rev it and it will run out quick..My :2cents:

User Name - Hey there man...thanks for stoppin in  You indeed need to try the Hempstar. Everybody needs a lil Hempstar in their life. It is by far the most consistent strain I've ever smoked. Even grown commercially and stuck in bags it comes out potent and distinct. It's very easy to grow...yields are optimum, and potency is outta this world. A very highly recommended strain by anyone who's grown/smoked it.

PN2P - Thanks for the tips PN2P...I need them  I'm not quite sure these clones are going to make it. That first day too close to the lights look like it may have caused the undoable damage. I'm not giving up on them yet though. If they fail, it's too late to take cuttings now. Might have to search for some new phenos through seeds.
With your advice and more experience I'm sure I'll be able to get a great cloning technique that works best for me.

It's day 5 flower now and both plants look tremendously green and happy. Both plants have already started to flower, what a difference in turnover time than growing from seed. Both plants had already been showing pre-flowers before even entering the flower room...obviously one being a clone and one being a re-veg.

In the veg box, grape is looking fabulous...I really hoope it's a female, this plant has a very nice indica structure and I really liked the bagweed I got it from. The week it spent under the MH caused a lot of nice growth nodes...it looks like Hempstar did when she was just a seedling with some fatter fans. It still hasn't shown preflowers yet and is on it's fifth node. Shouldn't be long till I know.

Hoping I can still save these clones, but things are looking bleak :badday: Gotta live and learn though and there still is a chance. Beans are on stand-by just in case though...just....which ones to germ?
