The DEFINITIVE OG Kush History

I am gonna start labeling jars of OGK "American Crippy".

That would be counterproductive. As established, crippy and it's spelling variations is a generic term for high grade bud in Colombia and became slang in Florida as well during the 90's-2000's when not everyone was a grower and not many who smoked really knew or cared about the lineage etc... plus no real internet like it is now, especially regarding cannabis. Everything was very low key due to Florida's laws. Similar to how the west coasted called good bud "chronic" in the 90's, and how in the late 90's, and early 2000's "hydro" or simply "dro" was used.

As has been pointed out by JetLife175 it was Alec Andersen who bought the oz of crippy. I believe he bought it in Orlando and it was from Miami, or it was the otherway around, but apparently it was called Supernaught, and Alec claims that the seed he grew which the cutting was brought out west and became OG Kush was identical to the bud he found the seeds in.

So it looks like now the mission is to find people (or person) who was growing Supernaught, who can shed light on what it actually was, or how THEY got it. I have my own theories but they are the same as many others, and it's just speculation so I can't speak anything factual about Supernaught, but I do believe that it was a given name by the grower or growers, as it's clearly not a strain that's been documented.

Another thing worth mentioning is the possibility of finding out info on Supernaught and those around could very well be low as at the time Florida had some of the strictest MJ laws and many were sent to prison and got football numbers, and many who were growers back then and knew what they were doing, are now in their late 60's. My ex stepfather was a Florida grower in St. Petersberg back then and his wife turned him in. He had a trailer he'd grow in, and used baby pools with 1000w HPS. He still had some of his old ballasts and reflectors and damn those things were huge. He died last year, but I didn't really care because he was physically and mentally abusive towards me and would make my life hell and always blackmail me, but he showed me poloroids of his grows and he didn't even know what strains he was growing at the time. He just said it was "skunk bud" and you could smell it outside the trailer.

Peace,
Tetra

Supernaut is an old Black Sabbath Tune......

I want to reach out and touch the sky
I want to touch the sun but I don't need to fly
I'm gonna climb up every mountain of the moon
And find a distant man a-waving his spoon

I've crossed the ocean, turned every bend
I found the crossing near a golden rainbow's end
I've been through magic and through life's reality
I've lived a thousand years and it never bothered me

Got no religion, don't need no friends
Got all I want and I don't need to pretend
Don't try to reach me, 'cause I'd tear up your mind
I've seen the future and I've left it behind

As a huge Black Sabbath fan, (who didn't make the connection until you just pointed it out) leads me to believe that the grower of the Supernaut was an old school metal head, and fellow Sabbath fan and named the strain after it in tribute. Naming it Sweet Leaf would kind of be too generic. With this new information, perhaps more answers can be found within the old school metal community. You know the old stoners in their 70's now who still probably wear band shirts. I'm sure the grower of it smoked it and sold it to those in his circle of friends so they might have a better recollection of the strain and how Mr. Black Sabbath fan got it. Did he breed it? Accidental cross of two obvious strains in front of our eyes the whole time? Was it gifted to him? Was it a bagseed HE found?

This rabbit hole keeps getting deeper. I love it.

EDIT: I'm listening to Supernaut now, just imagining it being played at loud volume as the grower tends to his plants, or is smoking it and is like "Supernaut..." and calls it that.

The supernaught was bought in Miami. From my understanding it still was within that surfer circle that all the fire came from on those days. And yes the rabbit hole just keeps getting deeper. LMFAO

Did you bold the last part because you think that's wrong? Real OG is a hybrid that does indeed have a very acute stimulant effect. It's one of the hallmarks of the strain, IMO.

Yup. You must mean a Sativa Kush LOL. I saw a youtube of these two guys in Africa (I think it was ) arguing over sativa (gets you high) and Indica (gets you stoned). Show was about hunting plants.

Maybe I am a little dense and not up on what the difference between high and stoned is, but I loves me a good OG Kush cause it gets me stoned. But I am also the kind of guy who likes to get stoned and do stuff sometimes like mow all that grass.

What is your native language? Perhaps you have specific words for that, as in spanish it's also a little different, but "high" generally refers to more cerebral effects, uplifting, happy, giggly, sometimes borderline trippy, etc... "stoned" refers to a heavy body load, relaxation, and as well as having your mind kind of shut off, and zoning out, or staring at the same thing for like 15 minutes without realizing it.

Hope that helps.

I've found SFV OG Kush to be a nice hybrid of both, starting out cerebral, but ending in a more "stoned" feeling towards the ened. However when I smoked Emdog which is OG Kush x Chem #4, it was a complete stone from the beginning til end.

Tetra, I used speak a little socal hills and beach, but these daze mostly American country redneck. As for stoned vs high, like I tell my farmer buddy, I want the kind of kush that the smoke goes down instead of up from the end of a doob. Eating cookies in the daytime gets me high. Night time when I don't have to go anywhere, I like to get stoned.

Many thanks to the members who put the real OGK and TK into my hands in this first month of the new decade! ICmagFam FTW! :woohoo:

my apologies to anyone who got the fake TK from me last year before I smoked it. happy to replace it with the real in the future if we meet again.

Fukkin' amazing when I got home with the TK buds and clone last night and got that shit into my lungs and mind again after so long.:comfort:

of course this story gets even better. TK hermed pretty hard on my buddy who passed it when he flowered her the first time and, you guessed it, BAGSEEDS!!!!!!:dance013:

OGK came from different reputable sources on both coasts but no flowers so it will be a few months before a smoke report but I can hang in the mean time with the TK and Headband.

What type of aromas are you getting from the TK?
Heard it has an old school flavor but looking for more details.

I'm sorry but I can only really compare it with the Original OGK aroma and that's going to be meaningless for most of the world who hasn't spent lot's of time smoking in Socal.

I went to a huge weed farmers market in Maine yesterday and stuck my nose into 5 jars of Fake TK and 3 fake OGK and zero real jars of either. 4 jars of fake SSH, 1 real and on an on.

The TK smells old school and it's got lots of the same flavor as the OGK but there's something else on top.

I would call it the "platinum" smell based on some of the stuff from the old days but that's not helpful unless you're from Cali.

I'm smoking some killer Topanga/HPK from a member now and the TK is in the same flavor ballpark as that one too except the TK buzz hits me hard and narcotic like the OGK where the HPK is more functional and "daytime" for me.

I just stuck my nose in the TK again and Gas is the first thing for me with very faint lemon. it has cleaning product type volatile nature but not as much lemon as SFV to my nose.

nothing will please me more than when I can figure out what the OG smell in OGK is and see if that special smell is related to it's superior narcotic mental and analgesic effects.

perhaps it's something that can't be extracted without changing or destroying it though... it's certainly the thing I'm always searching for and it will give me great pleasure to share it with weed lovers when I meet them.

if you are in the vicinity of South shore Mass let's session and you can see for yourself.:tiphat:

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Volatile fuel/solvents with a citrus background. Wish I lived closer. Appreciate the offer.
