The DEFINITIVE OG Kush History

the breeder steve involvement is one I would ask if anyone can elaborate on.
We have a long standing cut in our circles that resembles the typical OG and my friends have always called it OGK but it purples hard in cold weather. Not the flowers, they stay a light bright green but the leaves turn a crimson purple. Stems are not streaked and stay green, some of the calyxes develop a lavender hue but it doesn't transfer to purple in the cured bud. She doesn't smell much until near the end of her 70 day flowering time but she is incredibly powerful and has a real complex flavor with a proper cure.
I have always been told by my friend that his OG comes from breeder steve's hands. This is up in BC Canada and we have had this cut in our small circle for a long long time now.
I'll see if I can take some pics as I'm going for a visit in a few days before harvest time.

Here’s a photo I have in my albums. It shows the purple leaves in the trim bins in the background. This is the original OG cut, sourced directly from Josh.

VHHC in Vallejo has a Josh D cut, they have so many plants in there I have every reason to trust their word, literature, a store packed full of plants trays of plugs to 1.5+ metre plants under a 24 hour 1k hps inside on the sales floor :tiphat: 7 Stars in Richmond has framed Dj Short holograms on one wall and medibles ceiling to floor lining the other, $31 1/8ths of Sundae Driver

There are so many amazing OGs there, JetLife175

Thanks for the tip dude. Next time I’m in between SoCal and the farm I’ll stop in and see what they have.

I may be muddying waters calling the original cutting the Josh D as he sells the selection he made with karma as the Josh D OG and the original cutting the OGKushStory or OGKS for short.

Whichever one it is it’s fire. I’ve actually been trying to get my hands on that Josh D cut aka the TKxSFVxHA deep line breeding done by karma. I’ve smoked a shit ton of it and honestly can’t get enough. It’s a modern take on a classic funky OG. It ticks every box for sure.

That Josh D OG line from Karma seems like a fun one to do a big pheno hunt on

Popping beans is hard for me in my current situation (clones just more convenient for putting out in the backyard) but when I’m able to, Josh D OG is for sure on the list

I believe markers should be allocated to attributes and not names made by people who eat too many sweets,, I've had enough of this new name stuff,, people don't even name the weed after how they feel about it,, it's all bloody hyperbolic marketing,,

Obviously polygeneric traits are near impossible to fix and some traits work off more than a single allele,, but seriously,, this has to stop,, we need solidarity and designated attributes

cannabis is a rainbow, no need to put it in grey suits and ties.
I guess if you are planning to become a large breeding facility, it would be handy to have every plant categorized in a alphanumeric language. This is easily done with readily available barcoding and related inventory software. Adding a catchy name is simply marketing, which in today's day and age, a catchy name is everything and applies to everything.

Yeh,, i totally agree,, but in a place such as this where we are trying to get the the bottom of everything,, maybe it's time to get clinical

Who cares. Og is so 90s. On my way to cop some Platinum deflated soccerball zookies. Damn nevermind the line was too long passed the Air Jordan outlet. Oh shit the Platinum Game of Thrones OG just came out at that spot down by the Supreme outlet, I'll get that! Dammit too slow sold out. No wonder they pay for shelf exclusive shelf space in their own retail outlets, people see all the money wasted and that's gotta mean it's better.

People who care about weed should really give up this pedigree thing and focus on substance. The lines are being drawn. Reminds me of being a white guy in the custom car scene of socal in the zoot days. Always about who did what first. Not what they did, or who did it right, or why they did it. Mexicans still claim to have invented hydraulics to this day!

I've been growing seed my entire life and always names it what it came out like, not what pedigree it's attached to. Because this is controlled mostly by MICROBES! Not genes!

Give up pedigrees?

See that’s where you have me all fucked up.

I hate to break it to you but pedigree and provenance is everything. I’m not sure where you are from but where I live you are talking about breaking a cycle that’s been perpetuating itself since the 1960s. The cannabis culture was damn near created where I’m from.

And where I’m from some plants have been so top notch that they have gained notoriety, not because of hype, but because of quality.

If you’re okay with smoking something that is vaguely similar to something that really profoundly affected you the first time you tried it, I implore you to do so.

Not me though, I want the verified real deal. I want the plant that was so good that it’s been kept for years and propagated because it’s just that good.

Pedigree is everything.

That's some Class A type ignorance right there.
