Echidna

What a long time between posts on this Thread!

Anyway, here's a juvenile Echidna that's spread out his/her prickles to warn me off. I stayed about 3M away and used the zoom function so as to not bother it further.

Echidnas have been wandering about the place for a few weeks now. Sex mad, they are! Drought probably doesn't worry them much cos they mostly dig up grubs.

Cheers All!

Hello to any Nature Lovers! out there. Hello Mr Mallard.

Here's a plant that came up in our back lawn. It's about 300 mm high so I was lying prone to take the picture. It will be a Lomandra or Dianella or something like that. They stay damp inside for a long time between rains and Frogs live in them'

Subtle violet colours, eh? I think it's rather unusual and beautiful.

Cheers!

gee he has some fangs on him that little fella ...

82 years ago tomorrow, on 7 September 1936, the last known thylacine "Benjamin" drew his final breath at Beaumaris Zoo in Hobart when he was left in the cold to die; mere months after his species was granted full protection by the Tasmanian Government. His species was hunted to extinction by humans to protect their livestock.

It was taking 1 a week until i caught it sleeping in the chook pen with a belly full. Relocated it to the local creek (where the pic was taken), hasn't returned.
This little fella is always in the yard sunning itself.
