i see that the idea is to make an infusion of grass clippings alfalfa or straw and bubble it for what? a day or 2?

then the soup is poured on your mulch? i am going to do this too - probably before the berlese funnel

add to that feeding the dandelions w/ corn gluten

Wow missed 2ndtry's rant on my post. Ok I see they aren't compost experts now, but sending your compost to be tested for $100? lol Tell that to the poor folks in the Detroit Comm gardens just trying to get a tomato to come out of the ground. Also Cornell University states that a compost pile is never supposed to reah more that 150 F or organisms die.

it's not at all idealistic.

The twist in our perception is that costs are externalized, so they don't enter into our cost/benefit analysis on an everyday basis.

the obvious solution solution is for prices at the cash register to reflect the actual cost of the good or close approximation, and to compensate those who bear the cost for others unwittingly.

i don't know about $100 burgers - ha ha

but i did find some info relevant to protozoa soup (outside TWM)

this source (a gardening forum) a guy recommends 4 parts to 25 water (no chlorine - duh) and 3 days bubbling

in defense of 2nd try, he does know compost - for sure. But, many advanced gardeners will not make those kinds of efforts to be in full control of the compost (i pile mine up (no bin) and stir when it occurs to me to do so) He is offering accurate information w/ the intent of helping us (and he has helped me) just many of us won't use the entirety of the information. and many of us won't have finished compost for a year or so -let alone 6 weeks

Yea most of his info is spot on forsure. I did look up his claim that compost can get hotter that 165F and I found otherwise (not from SFW).

Is 165F the hottest then or is it less?

RE: Michael Pollan

His Botany of Desire is a very interesting read if you enjoyed his other books.

I deleted that post since i feel like a magnet is pulling me off topic here. I didn't know there was a movie to that book.

yeah it ran on pbs and has some sweet ass bud porn

honestly any corrections are awesome. I just get turned off by arrogant disrespect. That's the whole purpose for discussing instead of dictating.

It was shown on PBS in our area. I got a copy from the local library so that might be another way to watch the program.

On the shots done on the cannabis grow in the movie - I'd like to see what others thought of the garden and how well the plants looked.

unfortunately all hydro. but the photography was well done.

I certainly thought mine look better.

So. I think I got there by implementing many of the rules in the book to my grow. I gave a bunch of worm castings slurry (I'll count it as ACT), some outside soil, worms, a sort of mulch (I ordered a bonsai rake to improve that), I did not apply ionic ferts, or use synthetic pesticides at all or natural ones unless necessary. I sought diversity. I tried to attain slightly bacterial conditions, but did not get anal about it. In fact the whole thing was pretty laid back and easy. No skill required.

And it rocked.

How does this book apply to what we do?
