Maybe its the strain your growing.
On your hood do you have air vents on top of it so the heat has a place to escape instead of going down toward the plants? I have several vents on my hood and slits on the side that allow it to breath and be able to get my lights very close to my plants without harming them.
Good thoughts. First thing is I took a look at the hood. It does have venting all over. The strain might be a good point as I learned the hard way with Jedi Warrior. That thing was impossible to grow. The other T5s seem to be able to get them down on this strain but who knows. I really think it has something to do with the bulbs. The guy said they were hot off the press and were great tubes. Here why I think that:
Today was another thrilling day of heat. It was 110 out and bone dry. I had to open up everything and put every fan in the place on to get the heat out and keep the air moving. I rigged swap cooling and used cold water in the humidifer. That closet was at least 102 at one point. But enough fans and tricks I was able to keep it done to about 95. When the sun drops, I slam everything shut and capture the heat. Extreme changes here. But my point is that through all that, they look fine today. None of the leaves are curling, no one is droopy, color is good, pushing upward and spreading out more. So you would think if it was simply heat, all those leaves would be curling.
I need to email that guy and ask him about it. He invented the system in Holland and now has some stores in California.
Side Note: Grow lights still an issue. First guy had 3700 t5 and wanted 20 a piece. That is 160 bones. Doing internet searches I can find better prices and may give up and try that. Would like to get them in one piece.
AGAIN if today had been under HPS, my Northern Lights would be Southern Toast. Mine is hot but it is still many times cooler than HPS.
The homebrew project for incorporating my T5s into an HPS for winter system is interesting. Might get the best of both worlds....
No funky leaf curl
It was plenty hot yet no leaf curl. See why I think about the tubes.
