Stoner's Spring '06

G

growit1234

I have a clone that is about 6 to 8 inches right now. I am going to stick her outside in full sun for a trial run spring harvest. Should I put her in my indoor flower room to trigger flowering for a week or so or should I just stickit outside tomorrow. Temps in my area are 55-60 at night 70-80 during the day.

March 1 was the critical date for finishing a plant in natural light. If you start now, you will be a week behind in early May and you may have to take a premature harvest if regeneration is starting. That will happen later at lower latitudes including the Confederate States.

I would put it outdoors, if you can move it through the day to get the maximum amount of direct sunlight, that is the best light you can provide. In practice, you will never get optimum light and tempetures outdoors. What you get is the result of the averages, some years you get warmer conditions and more hours of Sun.

If your expecting a change of conditions, moving it into the flowering room will keep them in sync with flowering. The risk of frost is nearly passed for Southern States.

so would it be recommended to move them into the flowering room to finish , probably sometime in the beg. of May?

That is how I intend to finish off my Spring plants.

They will start flowering when I move them outdoors in mid April. If there is a risk of freezing, I move them into a dark and heated shed for the night. They come out when it warms up or 8:00 AM. At dusk, or 8:00 PM they go back into the shed to keep their flowering schedule through June.

That means daily maintence, but they do so much better with Sunlight when flowering.

bandan, glad to hear your plants are doing well. 5 gallons is good sized planter and still small enough to move as needed.

i was planning on doing that but recently i came across an idea , my climate right now is under around 12/12 but it will end come april, i have a couple seedlings that just sprouted yesterday if i were too take advantage of the 12/12 lighting and use it to sex them early/ start them early, they would in turn be quite large by the end of the season i presume though ive never started a plant this early for outdoor i also wouldnt bewatering males during the heat of the summer.

That idea makes a lot of sense.

I have used early flowering to cull the males, it takes about 3 weeks for a newly germinated seedling to show preflowers. If you time your start for early enough in the Spring, they will flower and regenerate the females in mid May.

I suspect the early flowering and return to vegetative growth has resulted in some minor setback, but I can't be sure because of multiple variables.

looking at my day light hours i have until about the middle of april then the days get to 11 hours, then they should go back into veg. but im just guessing

Im actually seriously consider keeping the spring girls inside and not doing a backyard grow this year. Just seems like, if I can pull it off indoors, then outdoors in the BY is an unnesesary risk.

I still want to do a guerilla this year. But out here in the desrt, that sure is alot of work.

Good thread as always bro, keep us updated.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

My Derailed Blues and White Widow seedlings are doing well after the transplant and the regeneration plants are showing lots of new growth.

Even my frost bitten LUI has survived, it was close.

Backyard grows are the riskiest of all. You have the utility workers checking meter readings, neighbours that can often see into the yard and the risk of a stranger passing by and catching a whiff. If the question comes up, it is nearly impossible to deny ownership of the plants. Inside does offer greater security, but there is no option to deny.

Backyard grows get risky but, the pleasure of watching first hand, Mother Natures handiwork is extremely satisfying. My state considers 5 plants or less a misdemeanor.

Keeping my backyard grows to a few plants was worth the minor risk to me, and with some common sense security measures, I was able to cultivate for many years before the rippers ruined it for me.

I encourage everyone to put forth the additional effort, of just one outdoor grow. The results can be amazing.

Now my two hour drives to my guerilla are rewarding, but leave a huge void in my hobby during the week. Things can go south quickly in a weeks time, out in the wild.

Planning for disasters is the key but, everyone hates to loose plants under any circumstances.

Good luck

Wow, never knew IL had such a lax cultivation law. Here in CA its a felony for any amount, exept of course, for patients and caregivers ;)

The prescribed penalty for cultivation in Canada is up to seven years, but it is the Provincial courts that determine the actual sentence based on sentence guidelines from previous cases. This on one of the reasons BC is regarded as the better place to be caught growing.

Back in the '70's, cultivation was getting established here and those cases were being handled by a couple of sharp lawyers. The end result is a set of possession and cultivation sentences that have next to no teeth.

After my plants were seized, I turned up and interesting report, commissioned by the Justice department, that studied the results of Cannabis cases over the past five years. During that time, 41% of 'found cultivation' cases resulted in no prosecution. Of those prosecuted, by far the most common sentence was a fine and seizure of growing related assets.

When LEO called to advise me that Crown declined to proceed with charges, I knew I was one of the lucky 41%. Since then, the number of cases prosecuted has declined further, likely in the 50-60% range currently.

In the final conclusion statements, the report determined the penalty was insufficient to deter the activity. Lets hope it stays that way.

My laws here are very lopsided.

Although it's a misdemeanor for 5 plants or less, it's a felony to posses 30 grams of bud :yoinks:

Harvest time is nerve wracking. Fortunately Illinois is just strarting to seriously consider the benefits of medical MJ and has also passed some cotemporary laws regarding argicultural hemp production.

We're moving in the right direction.

Captain, I thought that the DEA was federally regulated? I didn't realize that individual states could pass their own laws. I don;t even know if Provinces can..???...

Stoner, I'm glad it;s going so well for you! Hopefully I can get some F2's going this spring once I cull the males from this batch.I need to make more room :D

Thank you for the compliments VBG. Hopefully you find a couple of surplus males once your plants sort out. Nice selection you have going this time, I am looking forward to your opinons on several strains you have growing.

Derailed Blues is was originally bred by on of our friends and the current generation of seed is the result of a small seed making venture by another friend who will remain anonymous. Sorry, it is not available through any of the seed banks.

It was the subject of a comparison grow on Overgrow last season and several of us will be growing them out this season.
