I'm starting this thread to talk to others about my favorite musics; Stonerrock and metal. I have been listening to extreme music since I was in highschool and have always been very active in the scene. When I started listening to metal the scene was still very new, Nobody had heard of bands like Metallica and Nirvana yet, so you really had the sense you were into something brand new. It was really funny too..because everybody were in such an uproar about people like Ozzy and Alice Cooper, and I would laugh, because if you ever listened to Slayer, as far as offensive lyrics there's no comparison. Out of highschool that's when the metal scene exploded bringing bands like Pantera and Sepultura (not to mention TOOL -one of my alltime fav. bands)to the forefront.I want everyone else at Icmag who digs stonerrock and metal ..come forth and speak! Tell us about good bands in the scene, and lets talk METAL!!(and Stonnerrock). Local scene is cool too!!
Concert stories ...anything.
Bands:

Tool
High on Fire
Mastodon
Electric Wizard
Ramesses
GodFlesh(My #1 favorite band of all times)
Wolfmother
Q.O.T.S.A
DeathBreath
Regurgitate
Necrophagia
Melvins
Leng t'che
Cianide(great old school band from chicago)
Usurper
well that gives you an idea of what I like ,but is in no way everything.

I would recommend checking out some of this stuff (if you haven't already):
Kyuss (Josh Homme of QOTSA's previous stuff, very stoner-riffic)
Damad (thats a girl singing!, best live shows EVER)
Kylesa
Cream Abdul Babar
Unpersons

There's a lot more but the last four will probably be new to you and I think you'll find them pretty interesting.

i like Alice in chains for just kickin back rock... i like the music jerry cantrell has been putting out himself lately as well.

last year i went and saw 2 exclusive shows of alice in chains, of course they have a new front man but they were great shows. both at very small venues, probly half the people there were fellow musicians and celebrities.

We had to sleep in the car across the street to get tickets because they werent selling tickets online, well worth it to see them play. mainly it was great to see jerry back in action playing with his old bandmates.

I remember listining to Ministry back in those days. Thieves, thieves and liars. That was our drinking cd. Now clear that chamber, clear it.

I just recently discoverd my friend is a clone of Jorn Viggo Lofstad. Lead guitarist for Pagans Mind. It's his clone down to the tee. We had a laugh at that for a good while.

Chimaira
Agalloch
Eidolon
Stride
Circus Maximus
Cloud Scape
JT Bruce
Kaledon
Kromlek
Mnemic
Therion

Yeah can't forget Cannible Corpse! Actually when I really think about it, as far as straight up brutal death goes nobody does it better than C.C. , and I think Goerge"Corpsegrinder" Fisher(SP?) has one of the best voices in death metal today...I own every Cannible Corpse album out there ...all the way back to the Chris barnes era.

Oh yeah, I remember well the days of gettin' all crazy listening to Ministry, I also thought their Psalm 69 album was very good.Their newest album"Rio Grande Blood" is also pretty good.I just saw Ministry in concert about 4-5 monthes ago. Terrible show...sound quality was god awful. My buddy and I left like 8-9 songs into their set, that's how bad it sounded.I was really disapointed , because Ministry was one band I always wanted to see live.

Does anyone remember a band called Pitch Shifter? They were on Earache records ...oh ,this would probably have been in the early 90's. They suck now...turned into friggin' industrial dance music, but back in their early days they were very much like Godflesh, and very heavy. They had a few good albums. I'm trying to think of the one that I really liked.

Yes, Pitchshifter is an Indrustial metal band, I tried dling them but could'nt get any sources. Industral metal kicks ass.

An industrial band that I picked up recently that is'nt metal but still good, there called heaven.

Shedding Skin on Far beyond Driven just awsome song, makes me wanna be in a huge mosh pit throwin elbows.

last show i ended up going and seeing was killswitch engage, all that remains, and burry your dead. a pretty awsome show.. musta dusted close to a 12 back and a few blunts and bowls before we got there. it was a pretty large floor and they were allowing crowd surfing. got tossed up a few times but ended up bustin a few ribs on the metal devider by the stage. love hearing metal go through your body. can just feel the energy go through you.
