Sour Diesel (Sour D) - Upstate NY 2000/01

led05 - a question - i have little space and grow only ladies (save for the occasional) hermie... i see you grow for seeds... do u feel a diff between ladies with seeds and no seeds??? - my feeling is that no lite will grow weed as good as our sun, and that seeded bud has a little more kick to it- nothing scientific your my feeling after smoking for lots and lots of years
This is Complicated ^^^ and variable & only sometimes I grow for seed but man making seeds is about as addictive as it gets in this hobby - ha, but truly it is

1) Id prefer Sinsemilla for obvious reasons especially as heavily seeded flowers get obliterated from pulling seeds not just the headache (pun intended) of getting all seed out… and when you don’t… head aches

2) I believe Males pass down critical genetics females can’t / don’t - when you eliminate some of the genetic sequence things suffer, ESPECIALLY over time & generations, including Quality of high, some call this POI - Just like in humans both males & females are needed, much less of the in b/w noise

3) seeded plants vs non being more potent, having an extra kick or something special… sometimes, especially in / around the seeds bracts there seems to be at times special magic there, perhaps an extra / special protection mechanism to ensure future generations - and that gobbly gook layer of protectant is catalytic to the overall POI, that would be my hunch

4) I reach for my Sinsemilla buckets over deseeded ones 9/10 times…. At least

Peace & good question

Thanks for those details

I run containers in larger containers for more precise control of transpiration & the root zones feeding; been doing this on / off for a decade+ now. Which containers you use & their sizing matters too, how deep you bury etc but most often for me here I’m just using what’s available & winging it as quickly & easy as possible, it all works out in the end…

But I can’t imagine writing a publication on it when I could explain it all in a paragraph or two but kudos to BOG for any of the ones he actually sold for $135 !!! A fool & his money eh…haha
understand __ believe this publication was one of the first available to cultivators - +BOG came out with his own strain - he goes way back like Kyle (James Bean always talks great about BOG - )

I didn't realize you were a fellow Upstate NY'er, cool!

Love the grow and the seed making project. I also worked with the Sour for years back in the day. Great project, good luck!!
Eastern Finger lakes region brother

I just Popped 24 Sweet & Sour D to test viability just now, hopefully improved - no soak, no chill period either yet, straight to soil - some seeds require a stratification period, many don’t though too…

I want some seeds!
If these pop well & I like what I see I’ll make them available somewhere / how

Peace y’all

3 different early testers, only 1 show sex so far…. 2nd round seed testers 19/24 ended up coming up healthy direct to soil, I’m sure a few damped off too, I check them rarely, hard paying attention inside with so much outside this time year plus vacations etc…. Great summer but for the damn Canadians Smoke, few weeks behind on most things it seems due such

Nice job with your Sour Diesel. Another NY'er here, I'm east of you around Albany.

^ TY

I killed off 2 of the 3 in GH as I’ve got enough plants in there as is and they were looking to be males anyhow

One final one popped up inside while I was away on vacation so there’s 20 / 24 that came up & are growing healthy on the later round of seeds in testing quickly here

Shes larger than she looks, they all had/have very good to excellent structure thus far, I forgot to pop pics BF killing off other two, busy busy time year here and I was gone far too long baking on a beach - ha

You described that you like temp swings earlier in the thread may I ask what kind of swings?

Great thread and knowledge
TY - my indoor growing methodology is simple, try & mimic how I envision the natural origins of the genetics I’m growing; and then try & duplicate as closely & reasonably as possible, nature daily temp swings of 20-30F + are common, so I try & duplicate such…

Peace & Thx for stopping in
