I'd start baking cookies an hour before she gets there, so you can give her a plate of the second batch fresh out of the oven. Smells good, is cheap and she'll like the courtesy.

Never grow in a place that's for sale, move out after this harvest!

lol im in the same situation but i only grow personal amount in a wardrobe, very stealth, ive had countless amount of potential buyers look through and its allgood no one knows

You're renting the place from someone. That gives you the full right to not let them in at all. And you plan to leave in three months anyway? Tell the landlord he can wait three months, or you will let him show it now for $500 per showing, or whatever the monthly rent is, per showing. That should be enough money to rent the truck and clear the room out. If he doesn't want to pay for access, he can wait three months. Get it in writing.

He might be thinking "this guy is a dick!", or he's fricking crazy!" who cares what he thinks, the crazier he thinks you are, the better it is for you, its better than some lame excuse about working on proprietary secrets, or room mate out of town, as was suggested up the thread. Maybe even tell him, $500 cash to you for signing the contract, PLUS one month credit for each 15 minutes of showing. The worst that can happen is he refuses, calls you a dick, and leaves you alone for the remainder of time. His choice. The ball is in his court :)

Rhino,

Your first sentence is full of fail. He DOES have to let the landlord in, if given proper notice ahead of time. The OP was saying that he was not given notice, but rather someone else was who doesn't rent/live on the property. Please don't give out bad advice. Refusing entry to the owner of a property is grounds for them to call a locksmith and let themselves in, or worse, the police.

And yours has even more Fail.
Call the cops and tell them you own rental property and the renter changed the locks and won't let you in and see what they say.
Until you file an eviction, it is posted on the door of the residence, and the date of said eviction comes up, the police will not do ANYTHING.
Wait, that's not true, if you as the homeowner show up at the property with a locksmith and attempt to gain entry without consent, then the police will do something, and that's arrest YOU, not him.
Look into it if you don't believe me.

the lack of entry into the rooms is not a big deal. Buyers look at alot of houses when buying, especially in this market. The 2 locked rooms are not going to make or break the deal. They want to see the exterior, landscaping, kitchen, layout, etc.

I have bought 2 homes for my family, and we knew within 30 seconds if that was the house for us. If there was a locked door to a small bedroom, or study, it wouldnt matter. If we were going to put in an offer, we may ask to go back to see those two rooms but probably not.

I hope the OP is OK

hey bro if you have a access to you attic put them up there you will need to put wood down accross the rafters so they will not fall thru ceiling or plan on moving as soon as you can and growing in a house that has turned into a dog and pony show with realtors and noisy land lords is not a grow house its a free ride to jail if you can not move them out of sight .get rid of them its your call but do not let wanting to finish get you in trouble now aloha and good luck i hope you find away around your dilema but 500 plants or 1 plant is not worth getting busted its better to live free and grow another day in a safer place aloha CLS

I have to say that the attic is a very poor choice because that is a common place people want to look to inspect the roof at a showing. You can make an excuse to keep them out of a bedroom with a lock on the door and an out of town roommate, there is not really an excuse to keep them out of the attic or from just peeking their head up there. ;)

If you HAVE to move them, a rental box truck is the answer. Buy plenty of big boxes.

good drown

the only way i see this turning out bad is if you were not home, and they somehow opened the 2 locked doors. with you being there, it should just take 60 seconds to show the house unless they know they layout and are already interested

Not directly related but....I always get a kick out of posts popping up here and then asking along the line

"Planning to grow in a rental, is that a good idea?"

Then when I reply telling the poster NO it NEVER is a good idea others pop in telling they have been growing in rentals for "so and so long" just fine.

Yeah it might go fine 9 out of ten times.

The one time it doesn't it is not worth the stress or potentially worse....see this thread.

One of the fucked up abilities apartment complexes / rental townhouse neighborhood owners have. The ability to take TOTAL strangers into YOUR apartment with YOUR furnishings and property to be showed off. I wouldn't want to know that a landlord decided to show off my bedroom/closest, bathroom to people I don't know. Its called personal privacy and everyone needs it.

Fuck this. I won't be sleeping tonight. I WANTED a box truck. I was gonna back it up all the way down the driveway, and run 'em from the back door the the truck at like 4 am? LOL.

I do want good relations with her, that's why she's more than welcome over. Remember she DIDN'T directly inform me, we're playing like we didn't know she was coming. The place is going to be... artistically messy. So we can claim "Oh, I would have cleaned up if I knew you were coming," etc .

Basically we're just gonna invite her in, and inform her the same thing we inform the real estate agent. 2 doors are locked, there's no way to open them at the moment. Be as friendly as can be. No direct answer as to "when" the person will be back, but rather a "I'll get back at you when I hear from him" type thing.

I'm trippin' out yo. My filter takes care of 100% of the odor. I can't even smell it in the room unless I'm like 6 inches from the buds.

I just don't want anything to look SUSPICIOUS. Don't wanna give her a reason to come back - I know they're trying to sell the building, so we knew this was a possibility. But with 23043290 home's out there on foreclosure? Not really a good market, didn't think anyone would be interested in our 6 month lease?

I do have a distraction. Money. I'm giving her rent money to her. The money order is sitting on the table right now. Gonna change the story away from the viewing to a "I lost your address and didn't know where to send rent money, blah blah" There's no "due date" on rent and no late fee's just a "get it in" method.

They've been really laid back pretty much. I just hope they don't INSIST on going in there in the near future. Worst comes to worst, the roommate is on vacation and I'll see if I can't buy 2-3 weeks lol. If she insists I'll have the key "mailed" in and I'll either find a truck to move 'em into for 24 hours or.... chop and do what I can with it.

Is this a lock that came with the apartment or was it added by you and your roommate?

Be real careful in this type of situation. A long time ago, maybe 18 years back a friend had a large grow in a room in his house, a house he was selling. When viewers came to look, he said it was storage and didnt have the key, no problem. Until one of the "possible buyers" who came to look at the house one day was actually undercover cops.
Now he was dumb as all hell, 100+ plants no odor control, you could smell that shit from the driveway sometimes! And too many people knew, the #1 downfall. Someone had tipped off the police about his grow after an argument and they found an opportunity to get a look for themselves. I think it was a couple days later they came home to find their crop burnt in the yard (guess thats how they did things in Alaska almost 20 years ago) they took all his equipment and they left the warrant on the table.

Not at all saying this is the same situation, but I would never want to have a large, or any kind of grow in a house/apt that is up for sale. You never know what kind of people are going to come into your home. ;)
