can you guys help me with what i need to do to keep my soil/water interaction healthy? I've attached my water test, i don't feel my water is to great.....
so does that mean add gypsum..... what about the Na content
do you know if the mineral content of well water changes during different seasons? or can i rely on my test being constant all year
so I'm building my GH right now, i haven't replanted in the soil yet. after this test i added 32 lbs of gypsum for 50 yards of soil. which is a 1/3 lighter mix than my soil test asked for, because these guys got me worried that my soil was lighter than the 2,000,000 lbs per acre furrow slice. also my Ph is so high I'm kinda glad i only did that from what I've read and learned about calcareous soils lately
also 1/3 cup per yard of azomite
in the next couple weeks i want to retest with spectrum and see what we get
the aluminum is only available at low Ph right? the reason for that was to us up what I've got. i will stop using that shit if its a total no no. possibility that i didn't take the sample right, this is my second time sampling. i took a hand shovel and cleaned it off, i tried to include soil from the surface all the way down to the depth of 8"-10" of the soil and took from about 5 different locations mixed them together in a clean 5 gallon bucket. then bagged it up. also to note there were some roots in the sample. also no plants growing in the medium when i took the sample
there is most definitely room for improvement. i haven't implemented the aea line i will be going with yet. not until my structure is finished. up until this point my quality has always been phenomenal but I've always lacked in the yields to match. with that being said I've been researching a lot and reading in here for a much better understanding of whats happening in the soil profile
So will gypsum kick Mg off those sites? maybe i need to add more than what i did. the medium has received a lot of water since this last test, I'm hoping that will leach out a lot of what has built up. I'm curious how my next test results will show up.
also the AEA guys in the office aren't as knowledgeable as i would like....
i plan on getting a spectrum test done with the elevated ph AA soon
I've used earth juice microblast with fair results I think their formula is a little off. When I have yellowish tops Iron zinc supplement always helped.
Hey Slow,
Sorry about that last post. I probably should of posted it in the nutrients and fertilizer section. There has been so much discussion here on micro elements I thought it would be relevant. Let me know if I should move the post
Aluminum becomes toxic IN AN ALKALINE SOIL when there are bicarbonates and you lower the pH more than half a point or so. This is the danger of using N-phuric or sulfuric acid. This form of toxicity of Aluminum happens to be one of the most toxic forms! AlOH aluminium hydroxide! Took me 16 years to learn that one.... Only one article ever posted that I can find, from 1929 at the Univ of Arizona.... Had to convince the librarian to scan it, digitize it and send it to me in Peru!
There are lots of good rock dusts. Gypsum, calcium carbonate, soft rock phosphate, basalt, just to name a few. Pick your dust wisely.
