aight, post-harvest report on SoA Mozambica. everything but the smoke report. too early for that.

CONDITIONS:
*Indoors, 68F - 78F, 45%RH
*3Gal pot w/ FFOF, Alaska Humus and castings
*fed 1/3 strength bottled nutes and AACT's alternating weekly, PPM's averaged 450 - 550. PH 6.1 - 6.2 (soil PH 7.0)
*1000W HPS overhead w/ reflector, 11/13 light, decreased to 10:15/13:45 one minute per day
*22 weeks total from seed - 15 weeks flowering (could've gone longer a few weeks)
*leaf septoria fungus caused early defoliation / reduced yield
*began showing male parts at 80days flowering, on the tops of female calyxes. thoroughly seeded itself and the room. no pollen sacs. only opened male flowers. At about 100 days, stopped making male flowers. New plants in room did not get seeded. The male flower "breakout" only lasted 3 weeks. Concluded it must have been a stress response.

RESULTS:
*YIELD: 2.8oz. my average yield in 3Gals is 2oz. but it was so stretchy it took up the size of 3 plants, so for square footage the yield is below average, i'd say half my normal yield per sq ft.
*SMELL: during growth, this had the same mango / pineapple / carrot smell as one of the Swazi Gold pheno's from SoA. However, the smell profile completely changed after a long slow dry. Now in the curing jars, the dominant smell is a minty, menthol fresh spicy scent, with undertones of the mango/carrot but only very slight, and a hint of some spice rack smells - could be anything from oregano to pepper to anise or fennel. a very "herb-like" smell.
*SMOKE: it's going to be a bit before I even try and evaluate this. It will need a long, long cure to reach full potential. The Swazi from 3 months ago is really just starting to affect me.

PICS!

flowering (already posted this back a few pages)....

drying (wet-trimmed, can't dry-trim this type of stuff very well)....

after vac-seal and in jars at around 65%RH...

there you have the SoA Mozambica. i chucked the hell out of it with a couple of the males, pollinated a few highly potent sativa-dom strains, the offspring all look ridiculously good right now in wk6 veg, about to flip the lights actually, who knows what will come but it will be fun to see the results regardless. this hobby is taking over my life aaaaaaaahhhhhhhh

nothing but rain for 10 days.

checked the gals yesterday ( in the rain). did not bring camera as I was drenched when I got done.

the soa Malawi mandingo cut colas have dramatically filled out in the last two weeks;are so heavy. colas look to have close to doubled their dry weight.rain soaked colas dragged by their weight down in the ground. stems could not hold the weight. when I strung them up using trot line the base of the plant actually spun around ( the sandy clay soil turns into quicksand when saturated) so it kept shifting and leaning down. definitely needed a cage. metro guerilla grows in my area can't use anything that tips off the constant aerial helicopter surveillance. I believe dea gives out bonuses to local leo for found patches. they go at this constantly looking for patches. it's over zealous imo.

some of the colas that were dragged down did start to develop mold. these were branches lying down in the weeds/dirt for at least a week. first time I've seen mold on any mandingo.

these plants will yield approaching 1# each after the last 2 weeks of filling out me thinks. very few moldy areas. will cut some bud off in a day or two and leave the rest for full maturity. the colas when the branches were trussed up bunched together and I have a mess that needs to be thinned out a little for the final couple weeks maturity.

went back to the soa Malawi spot. we just had 28F temps. no issues. last year I saw some short ( close to the ground) soa mg take it down to 23F. the earth after a sunny day absorbs heat and releases this heat at night. you get a warm blanket effect that helps a plant withstand cold temps for a certain duration.

soa mg needs hot sun during flowering. these plant's buds did not noticeably mature during the rainy session. looks like i'll leave them out as long as possible.

bit better pic.3rd week. long nodes, medium branches at this point, so this may not be pheno i´m after, which supposedly branches huge, but early to be sure.

these appear to be good stuff. one in flowering has already good resins and terps. if not modern sinsemilla strain, atleast solid drug cultivar. two that are still in veg are promising. i hope these don´t hermie on me much.

pondo mystic report

this is a shitty report

my pondo (single seed purchase, 1/1 on germ) got chopped at ~9 weeks. it's a helluva story. but anyway.

she was in a micro so i yielded a 6" wispy top about the same size and shape as a wing feather. the foliage was sprayed with dr. bronner and all kinds of shit (kill leafhoppers) so as far as taste and odor goes, i can't tell you.

her leaves all grew small/dwarfed by the shit environ, they were "lemon shaped," having an equal taper fore and aft. thin, but average thin, not freakishly so. the flowers are overtly wispy, definitively sativa but not the "grinspoon style there ain't no bud here" kinda wispy, just a normal sativa. same for trich coverage.. not outstanding, not poor.

i have a few pics, but for reasons above, there isn't much to look at.

my top had about a 3 week cure and i crumbled some leaf and bud and filled a bowl, being fortuitously untainted by the soap taste of dr. bronners. fuck leafhoppers.

for a "room cure," it was relatively hashy/dank tasting, left a delicious smell on my hand where i covered the bowl, and actually got me pretty good for a couple hours. weak at first, but after a few minutes, there was that wave of strength (i get that when i have to smoke sativa but i really just want to smoke indica and get baked, but the sativa still ends up hitting me alright). i can't really rate it up or down, except to say i experienced a perfectly adequate sativa, not outstandingly poor or superior.

for a while there i was calling it mondo pisstake, but that's just fun with words. for $2 odd, lovely.

week 7 of zamal reunion. this is so far one of best plants i have done, real drug cultivar, you don´t get these types from feral hemp. hope this don´t hermie. another went into flowering tuesday, one was male, and possibly malawi, either way i´m gonna pollinate couple of plants with it, good terps.

I lost almost my entire crop due to overcast skies and rain for months with just a few breaks.

the mulanje gold hybrid and the soa Malawi gold hybrid did well.
'
the puro soa Malawi gold did not finish.

i'll stick with my soa mandigo cut of soa Malawi gold. i'm smoking immature buds and they are still very good. it's energetic at first and then I can go to sleep and get great rest for the evening. I've been smoking this stuff for almost a month every night and i'm pleased. when she gets completely mature she is awesome smoko.

i'm going to run a couple of soa mg mandigo hybrids next year along with pure mandingo.

I still consider soa Malawi gold mandingo cut my best breeding stock.

both non flowering ZRs were male. i kept the one that might be malawi(by ace) mainly because i like the smell of it. buds are surprisingly dense for sativa, resins are good for this stage. i´ll add pics later date

week 10 of flowering with zamal reunion. buds are dense, resinous and of decent size. this individual didn´t branch a lot, so not too many bud sites. taste is aniseed/licorice, and strong. maybe week or two longer with this
