Totally agree with Cannabisso.

"Even the word landrace isn't proper English (land race would be the right term) and the definition of a 'true' land race usually doesn't apply to cannabis plants.
It's too often just toker slang and advertisement ;( . "
Oh gee, I think we've got us a wise guy here. ;)

If one wants to have a true landrace in his collection, best option to get one for sure is to go deep into the jungle and look for one, but if you do so, please be so kind to take your trash back home with you. I bet there are some nice plants deep within the jungles of Africa.
Otherwise it would be a good idea to stick to RSC , or perhaps even SOA.

soon as i'm awake i'll dig em all out and swill em in h2o2 and nute mix... just like ancient indigenous people have done since time immemorial :p

yup... somehow my 5+ year old indian haze seeds are a lot healthier than the SoA.. dug em up, white paste.

think herbies will send me another $6 worth? :p

fuck, i really prefer to have a good reason to run a micro full of sats.. guess who isn't going to be that high this winter. i hate this world.

waveguide,
I just made a post inquiring about Indian Haze before I saw what you wrote,
good to know they germinated.

I had only 1 out of 6 Malawi Gold germinate.

Aalll Riggghhhttt

Could you number the seeds or keep track in some way so we can determine which seed creates which plant?

No worries.
Even if u could divide them into 3 categories based on seed appearance that would be HUGE.
Much Love

Looks like Zimbabwe is sold out now at a few places.

so that's Zamal and Zimbabwe gone.

A new one coming soon though,

"SOTHO HEIGHTS"

sounds interesting, a Lesotho highland strain would be in nice.

Malawi Gold is thriving here in Hawaii.

9ft tall and just starting to flower.

:plant grow:

A little update on the SoA Mozambica:

just past day 60 flowering, and my 1 keeper female is thriving, MUCH better than the SoA Swazi Gold i finished a while back. No hermaphroditism, no seeds, actually quite frosty for a landrace, and so far the most promising pheno / strain I've grown out so far from Seeds of Africa (i successfully sprouted 10 seeds of each strain out of 12 seeds per pack, very small scale pheno hunts, and this female has the best potential so far). Out of 20 total SoA plants I have only grown out 3 females and 2 males to maturity. . . . . like somebody else said in this thread you *really* have to hunt to get the right one, but it's there somewhere.

i've got a 5 picture limit per post so here's another little update on the crosses i made with em....(next post)...

As some of you may have read earlier I'm doing a little chucking with some of the SoA Mozambica pollen. I chose the 2 best males, non-hermaphrodites, one was tall one was short but they both had the best cluster structure.

I named them aptly MB1 and MB2.

I used the pollen from each Mozambica male to pollinate a selective branch on 2 different pheno's of Durban (sensi), and on my beloved Trainwreck

Here are the 4 resulting crosses....

Here are the seeds from one of the Durban / Mozambica crosses...

Here are the seeds from one of the Trainwreck / Mozambica x'es..

The Durban / MB seeds are MASSIVE.

The Trainwreck / MB seeds are relatively small.

And on we go.....

I'll start a journal or a thread in the breeding section or somewhere else so I don't hijack this SoA thread with this project.

Anyway, Mozambica is looking like a promising one from SoA, the blades much more narrow than the Swazi Gold, less variation in pheno's, less hermies, no seeds, frostier buds, more of a wild growth structure, overall better (then again i haven't smoked it yet), FWIW, IMO, etc etc. But i'd bet this month's mortgage the Mozambica beats the shit out of Swazi in a smoke report too.

hope this helps y'all! I'm excited bout these plants and their offspring.

Hey guys.

I’ve been keeping up with this thread and I’m very appreciative, great to see people posting on their experience with these beans. Especially as with the long wait before i am able to experience it myself but i am in the same boat as far as trying these genetics, I've started some transkei, Pondo mystic and of course the malawi gold. i also have some PCK and mextiza started as well!

So far i am very impressed with the transkei at roughly 10 days old, instead of shooting up tall like the PCK/mextiza, it stayed a bit shorter but since has caught up close behind and with the healthiest looking leaves. Not only that but the second pair is starting out more thinner like the sativa leaves, even more so than the mextiza. The third new pair working their way out are balanced on all sides, contrast to the taller plants putting leaves out more on the sides closest to the light. It seems to withstand drought better as well, it has not wilted yet when the others have in the past. Smell is starting to show on it as a sort of fruity skunk smell, a later rubbing gave off a less pronounced sweet smell.

I don’t know if its considered non-damaging to rub the leaves, i'm a newbie but i've been exploring each individual's unique smell, not all have one yet and the PCK lost its full skunk smell i was able to first detect. The soil i've germinated these seeds in is a very light but in a rich slow-release fertilized soil. I'm planning to move them into some composted/recycled soil i've been mixing up, no fertilizer added.

I'm looking for some positive, lucid and medicinal herb to help deal with anxiety and memory problems, just a general 'lifting' in every way, if there is such a thing. These genetics looked like a good place to start. I've heard of people breeding out negative things like cloudiness from the smoke, is this a thing that is done? dna genetics, I’ve heard their seeds commonly produce happy/positive type effects. One problem i have with my current herbs anymore, they seem to have a poison chemical taste and little smell, bunk cloudy effects!!

And so i've decided to put smoking aside until i can get some real medicine heh.. :p i feel that i am depressed and a bit inflamed, my goal is to eventually breed a personal stash that really works for me. If there is such a thing, from the way people talk, I’m hoping to find something both functional and medicinal from this. the Pondo and Malawi both caught my eye perhaps in these regards? If the description is correct, the pondo and perhaps transkei should have clear, natural effects.. who knows? :D

Thcvhunter and everybody else here, can i get some bud shots and word on experiences in these areas? I'll be adding more to this when i get some progress on my end!

Hi buddy.
Congrats on the great genetics and for keeping them healthy.

Shoot me a Pm and we can talk about finding you more genetics for pain.

Im glad that you didnt fall under the spell of the hype that indicas are what you wantbfor pain. Perhaps for a sprained ankle or some small muscle pain, yea an indica will help. But Sativas are the most medicinal and as such the most Sacred for me.

Breeding.
There's 2 routes,
1) pollen chuck and test the progeny and hopefully you kept clones to work on the parents that make good crosses to keep workingthose parents
2) talk with your plants. Let Her know your needs and intentions then Listen to Her. The plants you need will stand out to you each day.

Sorry, what kind of photos do you want?

Thanks Thcvhunter

it seems i've slightly exagerated the transkei upon a second look but it is still a little more uniform i think.

pictures speak a thousand words as they say, i was hoping to see growth characteristics and what the harvested flowers have looked like, if somebody has some and does not mind sharing them here, i would like to see them. :)

I don’t think i have enough post count to PM users yet unfortunately, i'll try to work on getting my post count up here so we can talk sometime? i've added you to contacts. :p

Anyway, information seems to still be limited about SoA and I’m hoping to learn more about these seeds. More than a few people have mentioned growing it in the thread but the focus is mostly on a single strain and still not much word about what the smoke session is like, i realize the focus may be on further breeding before talking of that for some people but it would still give me an idea on what i may find, including the less favourable ones, others might enjoy them. :)

If that is a lot to ask then i understand, perhaps it is my lack of experience with old school/sativa landraces that you guys have to not feel the need to post about it ;) just let me know.
