It hurts for me to think this hard but H3ad I've come up with something new? If you aren't a seller or buyer why do you have so much interest in this thread? My intention was to hear from buyers. I've heard very little from them. Your quote "The joy I get from seeing them grown out more than covers the difference" great....your work speeks for itself... http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=42405 Dr. Duck.
Well, Mr.Duck Your query I find most amusing...
Might I have permission to copy and paste the PM you sent my wife soliciting our commentary?

I like your attitude and believe me I know you do good work.

Not so much spamming Head, but what doobie is refering to in his first post. Some vendors don't really tell you to much while others let you know enough to be able to picture a final product. I know for some strains I've wanted to grow it's like hunting down info that wasn't there.

I'll chime in with agreement here too. Please, seed vendors, put out good info!

No one likes a spammer, however when I actively seek out your seed and click your link, please, inform the bejeezus out of me.

Right now I am growing out some SADP x S1 and I was wondering how long it will continue to stretch for, I'm gaining over an inch a day. So I went to find this info, no luck.

Well I do hope you guys take this helpful bit of criticism to heart. We only say what we do because we appreciate all the work you put into the strains.

I know the OP didn't list names or anything when he was stating his problems, so I won't list descriptively inept (lol) sellers either. I would however like to commend one.

Mandala, thank you sir, I have dreamed about your Hashberry for a couple months now, but after drowning in grow reports about various strains, I know w/o a doubt this is my next strain. I'm just waiting for it to be listed on seedbay at the same time as some other ones I was interested in are. It's only a couple paragraphs, and could be longer, but thank you for what you do.

as far as im aware, i cant think of one country in the world were cannabis is legal

so how can a breeder or a stoner sue for copyright or registered product infringement when what they are doing is illegal?

ive seen the dutch breeders using ® and ©. i'll give them free legal advice. you get what you pay for....Hire a better lawyer cos u cant enforce your rights, and if your try to enforce them....guess who's going to jail?

HG you are wrong on copyright laws. There is a case if you can prove its your photo. Who says you cant sue over images of illegal content? It can be done and has. I need to find a link to an old story from around 95-96. Lets see if I can dig that up.
No one said it was a wise move to sue. But if you don't have anything to hide it wouldn't matter.

im quite sure that you're right.

but in order to enforce their rights, they would have to seek what is called equitable relief

there are many rules to this doctrine, however, for the present purposes : -

he who seeks equity must do equity - a bean seller seeking equitable relief is "not doing equity"

Equity follows the law - whilst it may not be illegal to possess seeds, its illegal to grow weed so how could a bean seller protect his rights without confessing to an illegal activity?

Equitable remedies are discretionary u really think a court is going to give its discretion to protect an illegal activity ?

He who comes to equity must come with clean hands again...not comming with clean hands cos courts will take the view that selling beans is immoral altho not illegal

anyone suing for copyright infringement etc in this situation is no different from the stoner who walks into the police station to report the theft of his stash......sure he's been a victim of a crime...but guess whos going to jail

in fact, if these breeders were cable of enforcing their rights...they wouldnt sell us beans...they would give us the beans for free and sell us a licence to grow them ....cos cloning is an infringement of intellectual property rights lol

Hg I am a California Med patient in full compliance of the law. I could sue for copyright with a cannabis image. Thanks for the input.
Now Heirloom your comment "Well I do hope you guys take this helpful bit of criticism to heart. We only say what we do because we appreciate all the work you put into the strains." is very true as to how I feel. We just need a few more buyers to post what makes them buy? Thanks Dr. Duck.

H3ad I don't understand "solicitating our comentary" asking for your comments? anyway your wife mis-understood that PM as I found when she replied. I mis-titled it and my writing skills did not get across correctly of how I felt. If it came across that way to her, and we communicate often, then I would think the readers might not understand. You would also have to paste her reply and mine back to her to keep things in context. So No is my answer...I think we better leave the private message private. Hope you understand, Dr. Duck.

Sure I understand, But the replies would not have to be posted to show that you asked our opinion...
Also another reason I continue to post here, Is that I do buy seeds, and base my decision on something, and have a valid voice in the discussion...
Another reason is that you said I was wrong, and I have the ability to prove otherwise...
Another, I always enjoy a nice intelectual joust...
Another? I'm home sick with some flu or something, and I've been online alot more for the past couple of days...

Peace and Love

Failed Miserably

Failed Miserably

Well everyone I feel I have failed somehow with this thread as my intention was to get seed buyers to reply with what makes them buy a certain strain. So for this morning this thread has 61 replies. Of the 61 only about 15 replies are from different buyers not including the Gr3atfuls and I. Although we are buyers too. I should have titled this SEED BUYER SURVEY? So cudos to Gr3atful H3ad on his survey that has a nice poll. It has acheived about 150 votes as of this morning. It will provide some great info for breeders. Cary on..get well H3ad...Dr. Duck.

I knew I should have voted for image!....HA! There are 21 people in your poll that are the ones I was referring to in this thread. The ones that would like a little more info and at least ONE image. Thanks H3ad for the great poll, Dr. Duck.

Wwth all of that said and done,
I agree with your basic premise, as I have repeatedly said...
I only intended to point out some of the dificulties in providing some of the specifics...
Yes, I agree that any seed catalogue should provide A quality photo or two of each offering, along with a Description including liniage, growth habits, and What to expect as far as finished product, as well as when to expect it...
Most all of the disagreements we discussed involved statements directed toward me, most specificly the challenge as to why I have not added a pic to one of the only two auctions missing them, out of a dozen listings... and the post where I was told I was wrong.
No hard feelings, and Sorry if there were any misunderstandings...
Peace and Love

H3ad no hard feelings here, or misunderstanding. Now that the thread has been murged by the powers to be...I noticed it is no longer in the submissions...is there any way it would be combined with your survey as an article? If so I would sure like to get a copy of that mag. .......Dr. Duck.

One Consumer's Opinion

One Consumer's Opinion

Even if elements of the description are subjective (like hightype and flavors), I personally want the breeder's opinions. I want to know what they were shooting for, at the very least, when they made the cross/strain.

Their description may be hype or may be inaccurate and should certainly be taken with a grain of salt, but when it is missing entirely, I consider the genetics suspect.

I want to know that the breeder has enthusiasm and passion for their creations, for one thing. If you aren't excited, I definitely won't be.

I place more weight on growers' reports and photos than on the breeder's description, but again... even with a half dozen stellar reviews and great pics, if the breeder's description is lacking, I probably won't buy the beans.

And my pet peeve when it comes to breeders' descriptions is them keeping lineage secret. I can't explain why other than that it has something to do with the nature of the sacred cannabis plant... parents shouldn't be kept secret. Info should be shared.

Peace-

Dig
