Your meter is just dropping a "0" when you get really close to the bulb. 12,000 lux is almost exactly the number I was expecting.
The inverse square law says that if you're seeing 5500 lux at 12", you'll see twice that number at half the distance - 11k @ 6". The same would be true for the CMH; 5200 @ 24" means 10,500 at 12" from the bulb.
So the CMH is twice as bright, but at 6-8" 10w LEDs produce a brighter canopy (8-11k lux) than a standard 600w CMH hanging 18-20" over the plants (6-9k lux). Removing the covers will get you up another 50% brighter, roughly 7,500 @ 12" / 15,000 @ 6" which would be 2/3rds as bright as the 600w CMH at similar distances.
Uncovered 14w/16w bulbs should be 40-50% brighter than uncovered 10w units. That puts my veg and flowering canopies at 10-12k @ 12" / 20-24k @ 6" which means they're as bright or brighter than a 600w CMH at the same distance.

Well well... in all my years of watering I've never sprung a leak in my reservoir... until I decide to mix fish fertilizer in and sure enough I end up with 4+ gallons of the smelliest shit on the planet all over my grow room. Balls
In other news... the new soil mix is being Loved by the plants... little light on nitrogen which I'd the reason for the fishy ferts, but otherwise very nice results thus far. Here are a few ladies at 3 to 4 weeks in soft pots and the new soil mix

The AOCxADE pollen has taken very nicely and several F2 beans are very visible at 4.5 weeks. Here's the upper portion of the canopy just before the room was sprayed down to eliminate any rogue pollen:

I had planned on flipping these girls last week but things weren't quite ready. After my last harvest being small due to rushing, figured I should wait. It's been a good few days in the grow room. I finally got a humidifier and printed the VPD chart. It's amazing what happens when you use your tools correctly. I highly recommend checking out VPD!
