Nice!
Is it AOC ADE or ADE AOC?

LOL  I have no idea which one goes first, seems like every time I have it nailed, someone says no its the female first, male second...

I believe the original cross GT made is AOC male x ADE female. These are merely F2s of that line, with the exception of the accidental Honduras x AOCADE which will be (more or less) S1s.

I've always put the female first. Nevil does too

I spent a little time trying to find a reference that said, "This is the rule for hybridization nomenclature" but didn't find it yet. i just need to figure out the right search terms.

That said, in multiple areas of plant hybridization, orchids, corn, rhododendrons, etc., seed or pod parent first then pollen parent is the convention used in describing hybrid crosses.

Great stuff everyone!
I'm liking the structure on this

Alien Dawg-Ether x Alien Orange Cookies

GT says its mommy first, I think thats the convention.
But to be super anal, its Dog...

I scored 4 of these myself and they have all shown themselves to be big beautiful...dudes. I put them outside with supplemental lighting so imma see how their structure and terps are once they get large.

Hello fellow San Diegans! I just got my power bill and noticed i get billed by the tier! I didn't know this whole time (always stayed under baseline).

But apparently, I get charged 11 cents a kwh until i use 130% of my "baseline" which is 360 kwh. Any kwh after 360 is basically triple the amount!!! So 32 cents a kwh for me and assuming my calculations are correct, my 200 watt veg light and 1000 watts of flower LEDs would cost me 200 dollars a month in electricity alone!! Am I calculating that correctly? At that rate I am second-guessing my entire home grow-op now. ive spent so much money on my grow room so far and to discover my electricity bill is actually about triple of what i anticipated is very disheartening :( Are you guys paying insane rates too??

You get a big discount if you drive an electric car. There's also time of use plans that you can use to avoid peak rates. Pge are a gross company, for all intents and purposes a west coast monopoly and we are their marks.

ahh damnit. I dont see electric cars in my budget plan. How do i find out what times are cheapest for my area? are those peak times the same for all of us in san diego?

And is SDG&E basically the same thing as PG&E? i pay for power through sdg&e.

for simplicity, if you pretend all the electricity to run the lights is charged at that higher rate, I think that works out to roughly $150 on a 12/12 regimen with the 1K and an 18/6 with the veg light. Some of those KWHs may be at the lower 11 cent rate though--depends on how much you use for other things around the home. That cost estimate is also not accounting for energy used to vent, cool, heat, dehumidify, etc.

If you're looking for a better light output per $ spent approach, check out Terpene's LED grows. Based on his thread and the one by Blynx, I put together a single row of eight 8.5 watt LED bulbs for my quarantine space.
picture.php

Using my cheapo light meter, that row of lights (total cost to put together approx $50) puts out as much light (measured in lux) a foot and a half from the bulbs as my DE 630 CMH does four feet from the canopy, but at 70 Watts, not 630. also it makes no heat, so need for electricity to cool.

Fwiw, for SDG&E, the top tier rates in summer are 43 cents per KWH

Its Always been Female x Pollen donor. Don't let anyone change your mind. If you use female pollen indicate this as r so (SSH x Hp13-r) Most will know if its a fem line from whats listed as the pollen donor. There are many that are not clone only so using the r makes it clear.

I have 20 Cree CXB3590 COB LEDs that I built. I read they are probably as efficient as current grow lights can be. I might use a light you described for seedlings in the future though

Blynx did all the hard work, he ran light meter tests on the various bulbs. You'll get roughly 50% more light out of the LEDs if you remove the plastic cover. I would be VERY interested in knowing how the LEDs compare (covers removed) at various distances compared to your CMH!

Here are some brightness measurements from the thread that Ona mentioned:
10w LED Plastic Cover On (110 @ 6")

10w LED Plastic Cover Removed (165 @ 6")

23w CFL (48 @ 6")

at 19 inches from bulbs, the LEDs with their covering bulb put out approximately 3400lux. I put the meter under the 630 and lowered it until I got the same range and it was about 4 feet.

If I popped the tops, I probably would have had closer to 4-5K lux from the LEDs at 19 inches. Even with the tops on, I got 5500 at one foot from the LEDs (which is twice the distance I ended up using with the actual plants).

I got 5200 from the CMH at a little over 2 feet. I have a pic, fwiw, but it has my face partially shown so I took it out

This is awesome.

19" is a long way from the LEDs! I'm amazed they're reading that bright with the covers on. My 16w/14w canopy is about a 12" from the LEDs and I usually run my 14w veg cabinet about 8-10" from the canopy (without covers).

If it's not too much trouble, could you post readings of the LEDs at 6" and what distance you get the same readings under the 630w CMH?

Your LEDs register 5500 @ 1' / CMH 5200 @ 2' - What distance do you normally run the CMH at over the plants / canopy? 18"-24" or so?

Sorry to ask so many questions, I've been having plant bleaching / nutrient issues and I think its cause the lights are so bright.

If you want accurate readings you should use an Apogee MQ-510. It uses the newest Sensor it's way more accurate measuring all light sources including LED.

Sorry if I'm clogging the thread, but this retesting of light levels on the LEDs produced an interesting finding for me. I dug out my meter and put it at 6 inches from the LEDs and got around 1200lux?!? I checked the battery, fully charged. i lowered the meter down to the top of the cloning tray, about 19 inches and got around 6000 lux. Best I can figure, putting the meter up that close must eliminate any lateral spreading light from getting to the meter, while down lower must allow the meter to pick up more from the adjacent bulbs? That doesn't really make sense to me but I don't know why it was happening. I repeated about fifteen times, under different bulbs, changed angles abit, etc. I got the same range of values at the other heights under the LED and under the CMH as I did when I first bought this thing, so it appears to be functioning consistently.

Not at all what Blynx showed if I recall.

As for the CMH distance I'm using, well, lol, that's a work in progress. At one point I had brought it down to about three feet from the canopy. After a recent transplant and probable over water, I had a lot of drooping, leaf discoloration, etc so I pulled the light back up to the top of the tent. I anticipate moving it back down over the next few days. I'll hang out at 3 ft for a while to see how the temps and light level affect things.

I'm not putting a huge amount of stock in the accuracy of the actual lux numbers. This is a $50 meter. But it did give consistent values under different lights, varying distances and over different measuring days. I'll have to play around with it more. Also want to see what result a parallel set of light rows gives

Hammer, I'd love to have a quantum meter. But right now, I have to allocate my funds until I have the more basic needs met. I just got the cheapo to see roughly where I was at under the different light sources.
