Chemdog

You guys are insane !!!!!
Just finished my first chemdog run from feminised seeds given to me via a friend coming back from sandiego.
This plant looks like shit while in veg, strange dark green u shaped leaves and red stems.
Stretches x4 ,80 days to finish ,long spear shaped buds with long white hair that does not turn brown.
Chemical Lemony grapefruty taste.
The high is out of this world it hits you fast and your like this is some strong herb and them it keeps hitting in waves for 2 to 3 hours .

All this to say mad props to you san diego growers......
With love from france.

Hogsbreath was a wonderful plant, very sativa, finicky with high high ferts (ie it died), but a great smiling, cheeky high. Smelled of garlic and gave you bad breath. I have heard she is still around and people are pitching the Tennessee seeds, but don't know how close it is to the old thing.

Kali Mist: Man i wish I had her back. Great uplifting high. Made you want to talk to friends for 30 minutes then you wanted to clean your bathroom.

P-91: God it has been forever. Chunky buds, not quite chemdog, not quite Sour Diesel. Would love to hear others talk about this flavor, I am on a backcross hunt for this particular pheno.

Also, I got ahold of the OG Kush about 12 years ago. By the time I got it, it was a picky, viney, purple stemmed thing (fusarium?) that threw about an ounce. But MY GOD the lemony pinesol scent and flavor was fantastic.

So I am grateful that OG made it out into the hands of others who did get the strain back on track. I feel the SFV is the closest to the old time taste. But I have not tried the Tahoe or the ghost cut.

How much heat are you dealing with using CMH? Screw in LEDs sure do pump out the plant matter with near as makes no difference to zero heat output.

13 weeks to the day of 11/13 and my mango carrot Zamaldelica x (Tom Hill Haze x [Purple Thai Skunk x White Widow]) cross is finished. 70w of home store screw in 16w LEDs made for one exceptionally pretty plant. This plant has a good, but weird purple candy / mango carrot colada smell and yielded more than any other plant I've ever run under the LEDs.

CMH seems to put out about 2/3 the heat of hid, watt for watt. I don't imagine 70w puts out much heat, regardless of the light source.

Thanks EZ.

70w of LED was only over that single plant which is a little under 2'x3' in overall size. My flowering room (3.5'x5.5') is about 380w of LED with two banks of lights, a 140w screw in, home store LED panel and a Blackstar 240w. The screw in 16w LEDs put out about 40% the heat of a 23w CFL and run circles around the Blackstar thanks to a more even light distribution (multiple point lighting vs. single point lighting).

According to my swing-style light meter a 600w HPS canopy is 900-1100umol. Canopy brightness with the 240w Blackstar averages about 700-900umol, but the screw in LEDs are on par with most 600w HPS and some 1000w HPS gardens I've visited, 1100-1500umol.

I've always thought it would be neat to see several 160w-200w 2'x4' hanging panels setup over rows of plants - similar to a typical multiple 600w HPS application, but have yet to see anyone do it.

So upset with San Diego Hydro's customer service of late. Hands down the worst warranty policy I've ever experienced anywhere in retail which IMO is extremely weak considering how much their customers depend on those products.

What was the problem? They've always treated my right. Which store?

It's just the most recent problem (getting blown ballasts switched out has been just as much a PITA) but I had an AC go out that was still under warranty and they told me it would have to go back to the manufacturer meaning having to purchase a new unit in the meantime. I said that was unacceptable and that as an establishment that caters to a trade they need to stand behind the products their customers depend on better or not carry those products. To which I got the reply "No they don't. I don't know what you're talking about. We're a garden store for hobbyists only"

After being a loyal customer for 8 years it leaves a bit of a bad taste to be lied to my face so blatantly. (there was obviously more to the incident). They say don't cater to a trade and their customers don't rely on their gear but they sell MJ specific nutes in 5 gallon containers, hash making equipment and have this sitting on their home page.

I realize it's petty but being lied to is what sucks the most when I've gone out of my way (and spending more than I would elsewhere) to support the local shop for close to a decade.

Most places are going to make you go to the manufacturer for warranties past 30 days. On "used" equipment, there's no guarantee it's going to be covered by a warranty until the manufacturer makes a decision. That's pretty standard in any industry. They want the bad unit to be sure it's a warrantable occurrence. If it was fresh out of the box, you've got a solid gripe. Otherwise, you do not. You're basically asking them to let you use their unit, and HOPE that yours is covered. Where does that leave them if the manufacturer decides the failure was your fault or a non-warrantable occurrence? Do you seriously think the average sd hydro employee is competent to make that call? I'd have a NITB backup of any essential equipment, or at the very least a temporary back up plan, but that's just me. My equipment tends to go bad after hours, on holidays, or when what I need is on backorder, YMMV.

What did they lie to you about?

Was the warranty eventually honored?

It was a shoddy unit from the second I got it (I complained back then and was told it had to be totally broken) until it finally shorted out and if I bought a similar unit from Home Depot or Lowes I'd get it swapped out on the spot. It sucks that they can't offer the same customer service a box store does

They lied when they said that customers don't rely on the products they get there. That they don't cater to a trade.

Yes it was eventually honored but they were on my case about it both times I've been there since. That's not good customer service.

If I was looking for a quality AC, I'd go to an AC supply house. Shouldn't be hard to find in SD. I still say getting a direct "swap" is going to be highly dependent on the units age, and any obvious physical damage. Home DePot will not exchange on an old, obviously damaged(after purchase) unit. I bought a pretty nice chiller from sd hydro, and they warned me upfront that any warranty past 30 days would involve going through the manufacturer. They SHOULD have given you the same warning.

All that being said, garden stores do tend to carry the CHEAPEST CRAP they can find and mark up when it comes to HVAC equipment. It is mostly all "hobby grade" with minimal features or warranties. If you want pro-grade, you'll have to go elsewhere, and pay for it. Most pro-grade manufacturers won't deal with "garden stores". Just my :2cents:

I was also told that's the unit was a piece of shit and that I was stupid for buying it. Right before they reordered another batch of them. If they're that bad and they know their customers are relying on them they shouldn't be carrying that product

Edit: I know from a friend's experience that Home Depot will swap AC's out on the spot if one's in stock and even offer an extended warranty

Yep I've learned my lesson and also understand why reputable manufacturers won't sell to them.

Sd hydro exists to make money, not be your friend. Growers tend to be cheap, so they cater to that. At their standard 100% markup, who would/could buy anything but stuff that was pretty cheap to begin with? They don't get a very good deal on ac's and such, because they can't buy enough. This makes them go for cheapos.

Besides if people were smoking brick-weed, I'd keep some in stock. I just wouldn't use it myself:biggrin:

Major manufactures already have HUGE existing long term, licsensed wholesale distributers. If sd hydro could sell 1 million+ units/year, I'm sure carrier and the like would be happy to deal with them. Sd hydro is basically a retailer, not a wholesaler.

If they are going to carry equipment to compete with Home Depot which is the reason I was given on why they carry that particular unit then they should offer the same service that I would get at Home Depot.

Nor should they be harassing me over it on (several) subsequent visits after the return took place. That's horrible customer service.

crazy, sunlight supply and hydrofarm both have an almost no questions asked warranty policy...and they literally supply 75% of whats on 100% of hydrostore shelves....seems like the shop just doesnt want to be hassled, imho.
