San Diego Finest Cuts #3

If they are going to carry equipment to compete with Home Depot which is the reason I was given on why they carry that particular unit then they should offer the same service that I would get at Home Depot.

Nor should they be harassing me over it on (several) subsequent visits after the return took place. That's horrible customer service.

I feel your pain, but what do you REALLY expect from a business that primarily hires young pot-heads who don't want a real job, and is owned by guys who could obviously care less about anything but $$$? Comparing sd hydro to home depot isn't really fair...totally different class of company and employee's. I've had nothing but good dealings with them, but that's because I keep those dealings to the bare minimum AND by keeping in mind who I'm dealing with. You want good service, quality and prices, spend $100, and get amazon prime with free 2-day delivery...it killz the hydro store every time. Prime has a no questions asked return policy too.

I know I'm over-reacting but that's why I ranted about customer service of late. It didn't use to always be that way. When IGS & Gorilla were still in town they would bend over backwards for us.

Now I have to argue just to get them to look up the purchase date of a blown ballast. "They don't even make that model anymore, it has to be too old to still be under warranty.""Can you at least look?" 10 minutes later of back and forth and sure enough it still had a year left on the warranty. I then got told that the year left isn't good on the replaced ballast which is not the way it works. A 3 year warranty is a 3 year warranty.

Customer service is going to need to paramount for shops once legalization hits as Home Depot (and Amazon) is going to aggressively pursue the hobbyist growers and the commercial guys will be going direct or using consultants who are.

edit: I apologize to everyone for taking the thread so far off-topic. I didn't even come here to do that but to comment on Terpene's insane cross. I got to sample a little of what I guess was a month immature and it was one of if not the best true Sativa I've smoked in years. Full-term has got be insane.

That's what an internet thread on growing in San Diego is for...hashing this stuff out for everyone

Sharing your experiences with all of us other locals in terms of a local company is actually helpful EC. Don't worry about shifting the topic of the thread.

Thanks. I think EZ Rider had a valid point in that those at SDH aren't there to be our friends and I honestly think that's what bugs me the most after further reflection. Because after 8 years I do consider some of them friends and have been told the same in return. So I admit it's partially hurt feelings.

Now I'll also admit that I did handle the situation poorly and because I did I apologized for my actions the first time I returned. I was then informed (and I seriously can't fathom why) about not only the hard time he was given for doing the return but about things said of me in general.

I then got harassed about the return again on the following visit as well and when I mentioned that they're a store that caters to a trade and need to take better care of those that rely on their products I was kicked out of the store for breaking store policy. Even though I never mentioned what that trade was.

To get back on track here's shot of a Platinum Lime seedling early in flower. She is key Lime Pie x Platinum GSC bx2. A friend just finished a pack and found some amazing phenos that are pure Lime in flavor which I find funny because I've never got that myself when growing the KLP mom.

Bare with me...I have been reading this thread and only have 40 more pages to go. So I am sorry if this sounds out of place or disjointed...(look Ma! I made a pun!)

GSC--Sigh--I was never a big fan. I was lucky enough to taste the thin mint pheno my first time up and thought, "Ok this is pleasant."

But then...for a couple of years I have tasted over fert'ed, powdery mildew prone cuts, with taste all over the board. I have had them low yield and completely dudded out.

Oaksterdam had been poo poo'ing this strain due to inconsistent results. And yet it still has captured the taste buds of the people.

I would like to say that there are four types of growers:

Overwaterers
Underwaterers
OverFerters
Underferters.

It will help you tremendously if you know what type you are and adjust accordingly.

I am an overwaterer (but i'm in hydro) and over fert'er. So I will always try to slightly back off on my fert rates and water my watering cycles.

Another MedTree Seeds Tabula Rasa (Harlequin x Toci) at 8.5 weeks of 11/13 under the screw-in LEDs. This line is always so pretty / colorful at chop - thanks again EC for making these genetics available!

This one is a bit smaller / lighter on the output than the last, but has a really intense berry smell that matches its purple color.

I was just there 2 days ago to make my own soil blend and grab a bunch of Tomatillo plants.

@terpene. Once pure beauty my friend.

Thanks EC! Just half assing it under the screw in LEDs. I've got three of your Mindmelds waiting for space to clear up in flower. I am really excited for the technicolor show on those.

Since you're building soil my mix is:
1 bag of ocean forest
1 bag of happy frog
1 bag of worm castings
couple handfuls of rock dust (forget the brand, its basically azomite)

Water with straight tap water. If they look a little hungry, 10-15ml / gal of Botanicare bloom soil formula.

I may start juicing this mix a little heavier as the plants keep getting bigger and bigger in flower (my average plant is now about 4-5ft tall) so they're starting to suck the nutrients out of my 3.5 gallon SIP containers. On that note, if you haven't tried a sub irrigated container yet, you really should. I want to try using Botanicare's advanced feeding schedule on my girls (liquid karma, calmag, silica, sweet and hydroplex) but we'll see if I ever actually get around to buying all those...

Oh - never turn your tomatillo plants back into your garden! I have thousands of them spring up every year.
