we can just stop this fanciful talk of vegan soil before someone tells me that i've enslaved and raped millions of worms for the benefit of my garden...

not that the discussion of "better/cleaner" amendments doesn't need to happen, i just don't really care whether the amendments are animal, plant, or mineral derived - just that they are relatively "clean" and free of any kind of toxin, pathogen, or other kind of nasty by-product - and that the chosen amendments will give me the best outcome at harvest time due to their use.

lil lite dep GH is up;
picture.php

^
not sure exactly what will be bloomed in this thing yet, hopefully a quick 2 -3 week veg then start pulling the dep nightly

picture.php

^ other side of the yard, and the mtns at sunset
holes are filled, beds are forming, still waiting on this good ole boy compost dude... when that arrives i'll lay down 2 inches or so on the beds all the way down
"basins" or irrigation trenches are covered in slats of wood you can walk on it... pretty nifty.

been digging and raking out in the field, moving irrigation water around... trying to get planting rows established and water flowing alongside the planting beds
seeing SO many worms out there in the field, at least i know the native soil is healthy out there.

also did another general inoculation on the land using a large fabric bag filled with mostly bokashi, some forest duff, some compost and lactobacillus serum as well as some quantum hsc sprinkled in and a large rock. tied the bag closed very tight and sink it into my irrigation box where the water first enters the property, from there it goes all over the property

thanks y'all
been working REAL HARD lately - exhausting but feels good to be doing something that is our own rather than working for someone else

there is loads of grow-work out by me right now, hemp farms have been hiring big teams of cloners to get their numbers ready for planting season
i have a pal who is living in his tent inside a giant greenhouse working with a dozen to 20 more people all day every day propagating hemp up to 12 hours a day.
if i weren't doing what i am it would be an opportunity that i would be interested in. a couple/few years ago a gig like that would have been a dream job for me - but it ain't an option at this point.

sexing plants today:
picture.php

^ sorting females out and deciding who goes where, some for light dep, some for indoor some for outdoor full season and the rest are either moms, strain preservation, or fodder for the juicer or compost pile

picture.php

^lite dep hoop
put up a little shade cloth
dug a ditch down the middle of it and filled that ditch with some of my recycled soil from the kiddie pools, some black clay topsoil, some perlite (at the bottom of trench mixed with recycled soil), and some minerals and amendments (heavy on the gypsum and wollastonite)

EDIT: put in a seriously hard day of planting today
filled a raised bed with tomatoes
planted a ton of hot peppers in the yard garden beds
planted a couple rows in the field with strawberries, sweet peppers, and basil

thanks,
def i've been telling my cowboy neighbors "don't let anyone tell you hippies don't work hard!"

also
the whole agri-tourism thing has intrigued me for some time... especially when it relates to cannabis because there is so much mystique around the plant, such a "forbidden fruit".
last year i helped organize a small gathering of growers for the purpose of seed trading and networking
this year we considered doing a small weekend event that would be not only recreational (eat, drink, smoke, be merry, etc) but also educational in regards to organic growing practices AND cannabis preparation techniques. it didn't end up happening, the whole field crop thing came up and we got so busy that it wasn't feasible this year, and i don't have the time or energy to market such a thing at this point; maybe down the line it will happen.

today's project:
picture.php

^ butcher block counter top and gas range - big upgrade in the kitchen AND removing the electric cooktop frees up 40 amps in the electrical box.... :D

i pulled a bunch of plants into the light dep - most are about 3 ft tall and been topped already at least one time, but need a couple weeks of veg sun before starting to pull the tarp; i also need to get my blackout material

also pulled out bunch of smaller plants for the full season outdoor (in 1 gallon pots, about 8-10 inches tall all)

separating plants now for the next large room indoor which will be a 4 light run in my previous veg room - which will give me time to buildout and begin to dial in the BIG room (8 lights, previously had the kiddie pools) and even veg in the new bed before blooming in it

tents are both in bloom, about 3 weeks apart, on in week one (with the "kush bed" and the single big glue)
one in week 4 (the mixed beds, nightmare cookies dominant bed and the cornbread dominant bed) - that's the tent that is on 6 hours lights on for bloom - hoping im not TOO disappointed with the results of it

really happy for the hemp registration, need to get to a library and print it off and laminate a few copies to post around the property

Looking forward to the 6 hour bloom results. Sounds like an interesting experiment. Congrats on the registration!

Where is your hemp stock coming from?

just picked up 2 lb's of some hemp seed from a local farmer i've befriended - will produce anywhere from 4-15% CBD and never go over 0.2% CBD. will be planting about 1/3 to 1/2 of the field with this seed (maybe as little as 1/4)
also, im getting a TON of CBD clones from a pal of mine, lots of different varieties

my ag water isn't on again till the end of the month so i'll be prepping the field more until then (marking corrugates for water), and when the water is on i will wet the ground, plant and water everything in after planting/sowing.
that's the plan

Now is that hemp seed M/F seed or Fem only seed?
